도덕교육에서 ‘숙고’에 관한 연구 - 『니코마코스 윤리학』을 중심으로 - KCI 등재

본 연구는 아리스토텔레스의『니코마코스 윤리학』에서 제시된 ‘숙 고(bouleusis)’의 특성을 탐구하여 도덕적 특징을 살펴보고, 도덕교육적 의미를 탐색한 것이다. 아리스토텔레스에게 숙고의 대상은 비결정적인 것들을 포함한 것으로 필연적이거나 영원한 것들이 아닌 우리가 행할 수 있는 것이다. 이러한 숙고는 목적들이 아닌 수단이나 방법들을 대 상으로 삼는다. 또한 ‘잘 숙고함(euboulia)’은 도덕적으로 실천적 지혜 와 덕을 갖춘 사람이 적절한 목적과 방법, 그리고 적절한 시간 내에서 올바른 목적에 도달하는 것을 의미한다. 따라서 도덕적 인간은 실천적 지혜와 더불어 덕을 갖춘 사람을 의미하고, 또한 도덕교육의 내용은 이미 결정되어 있는 지식의 성격을 지니기보다는 우리의 행위에 의해 성취가 가능한 것일 필요가 있다. 나아가 도덕적 탐구와 숙고, 그리고 성찰과 반성의 관계를 설정해 볼 수 있다.
This study explores the characteristics of ‘deliberation (bouleusis)' presented in Aristotle's Ethica Nicomachea, examining moral characteristics, and exploring the meaning of moral education. For Aristotle, the object of deliberation is what we can do, not inevitable or eternal, including non-deterministic things. This deliberation targets means or methods, not purposes. In addition, ‘good deliberation (euboulia)’ means that a person with moral practical wisdom and virtue reaches the right purpose and method within the right time. Therefore, moral human beings are people with practical wisdom and virtue, and the content of moral education needs to be achievable by our actions rather than having the characteristics of knowledge already determined. Furthermore, it is possible to establish the relationship between moral inquiry and deliberation, and reflection and self-examination.
본 연구는 2012 문학 교과서에 수록된 <찬기파랑가>와 관련된 선행 연 구 분석과 교과서 분석을 통해 현행 문학 교과서 학습 활동의 문제점을 진 단하고, 문학사적으로는 의의가 있으나 교육적으로 학습하기 어려웠던 <찬 기파랑가>를 보다 이해하기 쉽게 학습할 수 있도록 대안적인 <찬기파랑 가>의 이해 학습 활동을 구성하였다. 본 연구를 통해, <찬기파랑가>와 관련된 학회의 논의를 다시 한 번 정 리하여 최소한의 합의점을 제시하였다. 이는 문학사적으로 의의가 있으나, 교육적으로는 학습하기 어려운 작품을 보다 교육적으로 학습하기 쉽도록 작품에 대한 내용 기준을 정립한 것으로 생각할 수 있다. 그간 많은 논란의 여지가 있었던 <찬기파랑가>와 관련된 연구를 살펴 보고, 학회에 축적된 다양한 논의를 국어교육학 측면에서 어떻게 수용하고, 얼마나 반영할지를 고민하였다는 점에서 본고의 의의를 찾을 수 있을 있다. 따라서 그간 국문학계의 우수한 발견을 국어교육학적으로 승화시킬 수 있 도록, 후속 연구로 본고에서 제시한 학습 활동의 효과성을 검증하고, <찬 기파랑가>와 같이 문학사적으로는 의의가 있으나, 교육적으로 지도하기 어 려운 또 다른 작품을 선정하여서 학습 활동을 구성해보는 연구를 제안한다.
This study set out to analyze Chankiparangka and the problems with their introduction into the Korean subject in high school and devise a unit to understand and appreciate Chankiparangka focusing on symbol. The proposed alternative unit was organized according to the following principles; first, a priority will be placed on the understanding and appreciation of Chankiparangka before general theories of studies; secondly, the students will be encouraged to understand the meanings and correlations of Changiparangga following the story contexts with symbols; thirdly, the students will be asked to understand the author's identity and the meanings of his works in relation to the social and historical situations of the days; and finally, the students will have time to reflect on oneself by using D ésir triangulaire.

이 연구는 도덕교육에 있어서 영화적 접근의 성격과 실천을 탐구하고 있다. 도덕교육에 있어서 영화적 접근은 도덕교육의 서사적 접근과 연결되어 있으면서 명제적 지식과 사고보다는 인간 삶의 서사와 영상 이미지를 중시하는 신세대와도 교감하는 접근이다. 이런 영화적 접근은 도덕교육에 있어서 통합적 접근을 강조하는데, 영화 자체에 대한 교육이 아니라 도덕과 교육과 통합되는 영화를 통한 교육을 강조한다. 영화를 통해 교육하기 위해서 교사들은 다양한 방법과 기회들을 제공해야 하지만 학생들의 열린 대화와 참여가 가장 중요하다고 하겠다. 도덕교육에 있어서 영화적 접근은 하나의 대안적 가능성을 제공해주나 보다 구체적인 교육의 맥락에서는 문제점들도 있다. 그러므로 이 연구는 도덕교육에 있어서의 발전적인 영화적 접근을 위해 영화서사에 대한 민감성을 강조하였다. 또한 이런 민감성이 교육의 구체성과 맥락, 그리고 문화를 이해하면서 활용되어야 함을 제시하였다. 또한 보다 창의적인 수업의 시도로서 영화를 통한 도덕교육을 적용하거나 발전시키는데 중요한 방법들과 모델들을 제시하였다.
This study is to explore the character and practice of the cinema approach to moral education. Cinema approach to morl education meets narrative approach to moral education and new generations's trends which emphasize narratives of human life and image instead of propositional knowledge and thinking. Cinema approach to moral education emphasize intergrated approach to moral education. And this approach empahasize teaching through cinema instead of teaching about film. In other to teach through cinema, teachers can give students various methods and opportunities for learning through cinema. Learning should focused upon composition fo the text's information. But teaching methods should not be focused superficial information and knowledge. teachers expect to engage students with various learning experiences facilitating student's open discussion and participation. Cinema approach to moral education can be an alterative. But, in the concrete context of moral education, this approach has some limitations. Therefore, this study proposed to understand and use educational particularity, context and culture in moral education through cinema. And this study proposed major methods and models to apply and develop moral education through cinema.

본 글은 도덕과 교육과정 개정 시안에서 중․고등학교 교육과정을 보았다. 중․고등학교 도덕과 개정시안은 한 마디로 ‘도덕과 답게 가르치고, 배울 수 있도록’해야 한다는 점을 분명하게 천명하고 있다. 그러면 도덕과 답게 가르치고자 할 때, 최우선 과제는 무엇일까? 단언하건대 그것은 도덕교과서다 교사와 학생 모두는 교과내용에서 자유로운 사람은 없다고 여겨진다. 교과서는 배우는 학생들에게 꿈을 꾸게 하고 삶을 결단하고 대화할 수 있는 대상이다. 그러나 그것은 교과서가 학생들의 삶을 안아주고 위로해주고 용기를 줄 때 가능한 것이다. 이러한 의미에서 본 글은 좋은 교과서, 배우고 싶은 교과서를 위한 작은 생각을 말해보았다. 우선 도덕과 교육의 질적 제고를 위해 교과서가 학생들의 생활세계의 지평을 토대로 그들의 숨결을 어루만지는 친숙한 동반자가 되어야한다는 점을 논변하였다. 이러한 측면에서 정보화 사회의 주요주제, 영상서사, 도덕적 탐구 방법, 교과서 구성문제, 교과서의 진술방식, 논술지도 연계방안 등을 조명해보려 하였다.
This paper is concerned with the revised plan for educational curriculum, namely the one for ethics in secondary school. It clarifies the idea that ‘ethics should be taught and learned in its own way.’ Then what is the first and essential thing to do it? Of course, it is the matter of the ethics textbook. That's why the revised plan is examined. Above all, the textbook should be focused on students' life. In other words, the main themes of textbook are to be interacted with students' life and knowledge. Those are as follows: First, the contents of the information society should be underlined as main themes. Second, mass culture, screen media, screen narrative, literary story, etc. should be reflected in main themes. That is, the ethical meaning should be realized through music, screen narrative, dance, story and the like. Third, the matter of introducing various methods for ethical research should be handled. Fourth, the constructive problem of textbook was mentioned. Photos, pictures, illustration and etc. are too easily treated in the textbook. Fifth, the statement method of textbook is covered. It needs the way to state centering on students' life and I-oriented life.

본 연구는 지역아동센터 서비스와 취약계층 청소년의 학교적응에 대한 통합적 이해를 도모하기 위해 양적연구와 질적연구의 상호보완을 목적으로 혼합연구를 실시하였다. 이를 위해 「지역아동센터아동패널」을 활용하여 양적연구를 실시하고, 지역아동센터를 이용하는 청소년의 심층 인터뷰를 토대로 질적 연구를 수행한 순차설명설계 방법으로 진행하였다. 혼합 연구 결과, 지역아동센터 서비스는 다양하고 복합적으로 취약계층 청소년의 학교적응에 긍정적 영향을 미쳤고, 자아탄력성의 간접효과가 나타났다. 한편, 지역아동센터 교사 지지는 통계적으로 유의하지 않았으나 질적 연구에서 지역아동센터 교사지지 중요성은 강조되었다. 또한, 지역아동센터 내 프로그램화된 서비스만이 아닌 대상, 공간, 구조, 시스템 등을 통해 취약계층 청소년의 학교 적응에 순기능을 하고 있음이 드러났다. 이에 지역아동센터 서비스의 질적 강화와 교사의 전문성 강화 등 현장과 학계, 유관기관들을통한 증거기반 결과물을 누적하여 취약계층 청소년의 학교적응 증진을 위해 다 체계적으로 노력해야 할 것이다.
This mixed Methods study was conducted to complement the quantitative and qualitative research in order to provide an integrated understanding of the community child center services and school adaptation of vulnerable adolescent. This research was sequential explanatory design, It conducted a quantitative analysis on Community Child Center Panel Data and a qualitative analysis based on the in-depth interviews with adolescents using community child center. The result of this study were as follows, The community child center services have yielded various and complex positive effects on school adaptation of vulnerable adolescents and showed the indirect effect of ego-resilience. In the other hand, supports for teachers of community child center was not statistically significant, but the importance of teachers of supports was emphasized in qualitative research. In addition, The objects, spaces, structures, and systems of community child center centers are a positive function as a school adaption for vulnerable adolescents. Therefore, in order to enhance the adaptation of vulnerable adolescents to the school, it is necessary to accumulate evidence-based results through field, academia and related institutions, such as strengthening the quality of services at Community Children centers and enhancing the professionalism of teachers.

Ssuk-injeolmi (쑥인절미), a traditional Korean glutinous rice cake containing Ssuk (mugwort) historically prepared by steaming, is nutritionally limited by its high glycemic index, low dietary fiber, and adhesive texture that poses dysphagia risk for elderly consumers. This study developed a modified Ssuk-injeolmi by partially substituting glutinous rice with brown rice and oat flour at four ratios (GR100, GR80, GR70, GR65) and evaluated the effects of grain substitution and cooking method (steaming vs. boiling) on colorimetric properties, texture profile, post-cooking moisture uptake, proximate composition, and predicted glycemic index. Steamed samples exhibited consistently higher lightness, greater moisture retention, and lower hardness and chewiness than boiled counterparts, attributed to more uniform starch gelatinization under indirect heat, scientifically validating steaming as the superior and traditionally appropriate cooking method for Ssuk-injeolmi. Among steamed formulations, GR70 (glutinous rice: brown rice: oat = 70:20:10) achieved the most favorable textural profile with the lowest chewiness, gumminess, and adhesiveness among substituted groups. Grain substitution progressively increased dietary fiber from 1.22 g/100 g (GR100) to 2.51 g/100 g (GR70) and reduced the predicted glycemic index from 82 to 77.6, consistent with the hypoglycemic effects of oat β-glucan and brown rice bran fiber. Caloric content remained comparable across formulations (224–235 kcal/100 g). Steamed GR70 Ssuk-injeolmi is identified as the most favorable reformulation, delivering reduced adhesiveness, more than double the dietary fiber of the control, and a lower predicted glycemic index while maintaining comparable caloric content. These findings demonstrate that evidence-based grain substitution and traditional steam cooking can synergistically improve the nutritional quality and textural safety of a culturally significant ethnic food without compromising its identity, offering a replicable reformulation framework for other traditional glutinous rice-based foods in Korean and East Asian cuisines targeting health-conscious and aging consumer populations globally.

This review explores the factors that improve meat protein digestibility and applies the findings to the development of home meal replacements with improved protein digestion rates in older adults. Various methods improve the digestion rate of proteins, such as heat, ultrasound, high pressure, or pulse electric field. In addition, probiotics aid in protein digestion by improving the function of digestive organs and secreting enzymes. Plant-derived proteases, such as papain, bromelain, ficin, actinidin, or zingibain, can also improve the protein digestion rate; however, the digestion rate is dependent on the plant enzyme used and protein characteristics. Sous vide processing improves the rate and extent of protein digestibility, but the protein digestion rate decreases with increasing temperature and heating time. Ultrasound, high pressure, or pulsed electric field treatments degrade the protein structure and increase the proteolytic enzyme contact area to improve the protein digestion rate.
Methods of preparation of Swazi traditional fermented foods

Background: Fermentation is an age old technique of preserving food in many communities. A wide range of fermented products are prepared by varying the types of raw materials, utensils, and fermentation times. Several fermented foods are consumed in Swaziland. A survey of the types of fermented foods, preparation methods, and utensils used was done in the Hhohho region of Swaziland. The current study aimed at documenting the preparation methods of emahewu, emasi, umcombotsi, and buganu at household levels. Methods: Detailed fermentation steps were documented for umcombotsi, emahewu, buganu, and emasi. Five constituencies, called tinkhundla, were randomly selected from the 14 found in the Hhohho region of Swaziland. At each inkhundla, households that were known to regularly prepare the fermented foods were identified with the assistance of local community leaders and were interviewed. A semistructured questionnaire was used for the face-to-face interviews. Results: With respect to preparation procedures and practices, all respondents indicated that they had prepared different fermented foods at one time or another. The most commonly prepared and readily available fermented foods were umcombotsi (alcoholic beverage), emahewu (nonalcoholic beverage), buganu (marula wine), and emasi (spontaneously fermented milk). Both men and women indicated that they prepared umcombotsi, and only women reported that they prepared emahewu, buganu, and emasi. Umcombotsi was mainly prepared for sale, while buganu, emahewu, and emasi were for sale as well as for household consumption. Umcombotsi was mostly prepared by mixing maize meal, unmilled sorghum malt (magayiwe), and brown sugar (3 kg) in water (20 L). The initial stage involved cooking the mixture to gelatinize the starch, followed by fermentation at ambient temperature (25?30°C) for about 72 hours. The whole preparation process takes about 4?5 days. Emahewu was prepared by mixing maize meal (1 kg) with water (5 L) and cooking to make a soft porridge. The cooled porridge was left to ferment at room temperature. Some reported adding sugar or a peeled potato to aid the fermentation process. Emasi was prepared by letting raw milk to naturally ferment at room temperature (25?30°C) in either metal or plastic containers (buckets) for 2?3 days. Buganu was prepared from marula fruit (amaganu) juice and pulp mixed with water (10 L) and sugar (2 kg). The mixture was allowed to ferment at ambient temperature for about 3 days, sieved, and then served. Conclusion: Umcombotsi, emahewu, buganu, and emasi were the fermented foods commonly prepared at a household level in the Hhohho region, Swaziland. The main ingredient used for preparing umcombotsi and emahewu was maize meal. Unmilled sorghum malt was also added during preparation of umcombotsi. However, typically no malt was added during the preparation of emahewu. Buganu and emasi also play an important role in the diet and socioeconomic activities of the population in Swaziland.
Security methods for AI based COVID-19 analysis system : A survey

Rapid progress and widespread outbreak of COVID-19 have caused devastating influence on the health systems all around the world. The importance of countermeasures to tackle this problem lead to widespread use of Computer Aided Diagnosis (CADs) applications using deep neural networks. The unprecedented success of machine learning techniques, especially deep learning networks in medical images, have led to their recent prominence in improving efficient diagnosis of COVID-19 with increased detection accuracy. However, recent studies in the field of security of AI-based systems revealed that these deep learning models are vulnerable to adversarial attacks. Adversarial examples generated by attack algorithms are not recognizable by the human eye and can easily deceive the state-of-the-art deep learning models, therefore they threaten security-critical learning applications. In this paper, the methodology, results and concerns of recent works on robustness of AI based COVID-19 systems are summarized and discussed. We explore important security concerns related to deep neural networks and review current state-of-the-art defense methods to prevent performance degradation.

Ayurveda (the science of life) is one of the branches of Vedas. It is regarded as upaveda of Atharva Veda. It is a steam of knowledge coming down from generation to generation since eternity parallel to Vedic literature which is why its emergence has been said to be from the creator (Brahman) himself prior to the creation. It is taken as eternal because nobody knows when it was not there. In Ayurveda, food is considered to affect the mind as well as the body. By understanding how to prepare foods best suited to our minds and bodies, we can utilize nutrition as a source of healing. Food is the most essential to sustain a good life and the same food if consumed inappropriately becomes the root cause of many diseases. So, proper knowledge about food and its importance should be known by all human beings to have better benefits from it.
Cross validation methods: analysis based on diagnostics of thyroid cancer metastasis

Much of modern medical research are supported by statistics and machine learning techniques. For the reliability of these studies, it is important to measure the effectiveness of the developed models in making predictions on real medical data. Cross validation is a tool, which provides a principled method of measuring the effectiveness of models and comparing models with each other. This paper presents theoretical and empirical analysis of common cross validation methods. Using sample logistic regression model along with with six different validation methods, comparative analysis has been conducted. The model was developed to determine the level of thyroglobulin hormone, thyroid cancer marker. The marker indicates an increased risk of thyroid cancer metastasis, and is commonly used in metastasis diagnosis. Whereas, literature does not provide a single threshold of thyroglobulin value, indicating an increased risk of metastasis. This paper confirms that one of the main reasons of this lack, is the high variance of the developed models. This research argues that the use of the validation technique also influences both: measures of the model quality and the threshold value. The results show a high discrepancy in the determination of threshold values. However, iterative methods (such as sampling and bootstrap) seem to produce more stable outcomes.

Background Some wild and domesticated vegetables of Ibo ethnic tribe of Southeast, Nigeria, namely Piper guineense, Ocimum gratissimum, Solanum melongena L., Gongronema latifolium, Gnetum africanum and Vernonia amygdalina, have gained interest in food culinary uses due to its nutritional, antioxidant potentials and health benefts. These vegetables are rich in fber, minerals and phyto-nutrients and have signifcant health benefts against degenerative disorders. Due to these facts, cooking methods aimed at better retention of nutrients and antioxidant compounds were exploited. Methods Carefully selected fresh and shredded indigenous vegetables that are commonly used in diferent food dishes in Southeast Nigeria were cooked (blanched at 98 °C, 2 min and sauteed at 150 °C, 5 min). They were analyzed on a dry weight basis for minerals, vitamins, phytochemicals and antioxidant activity assayed by DPPH, ABTS and FRAP. Results Results exhibited wild variations showing that Ocimum gratissimum and Solanum melongena L had higher concentrations of functional minerals Zn, Fe, K and Ca. Vitamins B1 and β-carotene had higher concentrations in Solanum melongena L, Gnetum africanum and Vernonia amygdalina. Ocimum gratissimum revealed higher concentra? tions of TPC and TFC and maintains strong scavenging activity in ABTS and FRAP, while %DPPH manifested stronger activity in Solanum melongena L. Vernonia amygdalina exhibited higher phytochemicals concentrations, especially the alkaloid content. Conclusion Sauteed cooking retained more nutrients and had stronger antioxidant activity than the blanched method. Overall, these vegetables possess high concentrations of functional constituents that can make them be used to boost human nutrition and beneft the health of consumers.
Comparison of the methods for platelet rich plasma preparation in horses

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is popularly used in the horse industry to enhance regeneration of tissue injury that has limitation of blood supply. This study aimed to compare the methods for platelet rich plasma preparation since they has not been established yet. Blood was collected from six horses and platelets were concentrated by three different methods (2-step centrifugation, separated centrifugation and separated centrifugation using histopaque). Concentrated blood was analyzed using Advia hematology systems. In the result, separated centrifugation with histopaque showed the significantly lower number of red blood cells than other groups. The 2-step centrifugation showed the significantly higher number of white blood cells than other groups, while it contained the highest concentration of red blood cells among three groups. In the 2-step centrifugation, separated centrifugation and separated centrifugation with histopaque, platelets were concentrated 4.5, 5.3 and 5.6 times, respectively. And no significant difference of the platelet concentration between the three groups was found. This study demonstrated that separated centrifugation using histopaque was the best method for platelet rich plasma preparation because of the proper amount of platelets and the separation of red blood cells from platelet rich plasma.

Purpose: This study aims to investigate two different distraction methods, distraction cards and kaleidoscope, on pain and anxiety relief of children during phlebotomy. Methods: This study is a prospective, randomized and controlled trial. The sample consisted of 7-11 year-old children who required blood tests. Children were randomized into three groups: the distraction cards group, the kaleidoscope group, and the control group. Data were obtained by interviewing the children with their parents and the observer before and after the procedure. The pain levels of the children were assessed by the parent and observer reports as well as self report using the Wong Baker FACES Pain Rating Scale. The anxiety levels of children were assessed by parent and observer reports using Children Fear Scale. Results: One hundred and eighty-eight children (mean age, 8.8 ± 1.5 years) were included. The pain levels of children showed significant differences among the groups (p = .005). Both the distraction card group (2.41 ± 2.49) and the kaleidoscope group (3.10 ± 2.16) had lower pain levels than the control group did (4.44 ± 3.64). The distraction card group had the lowest pain levels (2.41 ± 2.49) among all groups. The procedural anxiety levels of children were significantly different among the groups (p <.001). Both the distraction card group (1.10 ± 1.20) and the kaleidoscope group (1.61 ± 1.12) had lower anxiety levels than the control group did (2.41 ± 1.30). The distraction card group had the lowest anxiety levels (p <.001). Conclusion: The distraction cards were the most effective method for pain and anxiety relief of children during phlebotomy. Also the distraction method with kaleidoscope was an effective method for pain and anxiety relief during phlebotomy in children.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of multiple cooling systems and different drinking water temperatures (DWT) on the performance of sows and their hair cortisol levels during heat stress. In this study, the effect of four different cooling systems: air conditioner (AC), cooling pad (CP), snout cooling (SC), and mist spray (MS), and two DWT, namely low water temperature (LWT) and high water temperature (HWT) on 48 multiparous sows (Landrace × Yorkshire; 242.84 ± 2.89 kg) was tested. The experiment is based on the use of eight replicas during a 21-days test. Different behaviors were recorded under different cooling treatments in sows. As a result, behaviors such as drinking, standing, and position change were found to be lower in sows under the AC and CP treatments than in those under the SC and MS treatments. Lying behavior increased under the AC and CP systems as compared with that under the SC and MS, systems. The average daily feed intake (ADFI) in sows and weight at weaning in piglets was higher under the AC, CP, and LWT treatments than under the SC, MS and HWT treatments. Sows subjected to SC and MS treatment showed higher hair cortisol levels, rectal temperature, and respiratory rate during lactation than those under AC and CP treatments. Hair cortisol levels, rectal temperature, and respiratory rate were also higher under the HWT than under the LWT treatment. As per the results of this study, the LWT has no significant effect on any of the behavioral factors. Taken together, the use of AC and CP cooling treatment is highly recommended to improve the behavior and to reduce the stress levels in lactating sows.
Effects of feather processing methods on quantity of extracted corticosterone in broiler chickens

Corticosterone is known as a biological stress index in many species including birds. Feather corticosterone concentration (FCC) has increasingly been used as a measure for chronic stress status in broiler chickens. As sample preparation is the first step of analytical process, different techniques of feather matrix disruption need to be validated for obtaining better result in analysing corticosterone extraction. The current study was a validation of pulverizing the feather by bead beater (BB) and surgical scissors (SS) processing prior to corticosterone extraction in feather of broiler chickens. The type of feather processing prior to the hormone extraction may alter the final output. Thereby, finding a standard method according to laboratory facilities is pivotal. This study carried out to determine the effects of feather pulverization methods on the extraction amount of corticosterone in broiler chickens. Feathers were sampled from four weeks old Ross 308 broiler chickens (n = 12 birds). All broiler chickens were kept under the same environmental condition and had access to feed and water. Feather samples were assigned to one of the following processing methods 1) using a BB for pulverizing and 2) using a SS for chopping into tiny pieces. Each sample was duplicated into two wells during enzyme immunoassay (EIA) analysis to improve the accuracy of the obtained data. The results showed lower standard errors and constant output of FCC by using the BB method compared with the SS method. Overall comparison of FCC showed a significantly higher (p < 0.001) amount of the FCC in the BB compared with the SS. Overall, using the BB method is recommended over the SS method for feather processing due to the ability to homogenize a large number of samples simultaneously, ease of use and greater extraction of feather corticosterone.
