Performance evaluation of PAPR reduction in FBMC system using nonlinear companding transform

Filter Bank Multicarrier with Offset Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (FBMC/OQAM) is one of the best waveforms used in 5G communications. The FBMC is a multicarrier modulation system (MCM) which suffers from high peak to average power ratio (PAPR) causing a reduction in power efficiency. Nonlinear companding techniques are widely used to reduce the peak-to-average-power ratio (PAPR). In this paper, we have evaluated the performance of different non-linear companding techniques to reduce the PAPR in FBMC/OQAM system while achieving good Bit Error rate. We assessed the hyperbolic tangent, the error function, the logarithmic function, the A-law, and Mu-law companding techniques. It is found that the best companding function is the Mu-law.

This paper shows how the fund performance evaluation system influences the fund market and fund family behaviors. Evaluation-ship Bias is defined as the outperforming of evaluated funds over non-evaluated funds. Regarding the Evaluationship Bias, this study confirmed two things in empirical analysis of Korean equity funds. First, this paper verified that there was Evaluation-ship Bias in Korea, so fund families’ performances were over-estimated. Second, it is also found that fund families did favoritism to evaluated funds in management activities. Fund families were more attentive to EV performance and took strategic and risk-taking measures to improve its ratings. This paper suggests that another factor, the performance evaluation system itself, is what causes fund families to favor some funds. The existence of too high numbers of Korean funds is an example of this evaluation system bias. We can expect similar phenomena to occur in other countries as well. We also suggest that the introduction of GIPS will diminish the evaluation system bias and contribute to the development of the Korean fund market.

본 연구는 외식업체의 전략적 성과관리를 위해 균형성과표(BSC) 기반의 평가체계를 구축하고, 중국 대표 외식기업인 하이디라오를 사례로 실증적 검증을 실시하였다. 문헌 연구와 사례분석을 결합한 방법론을 통해 외식산업 특성에 맞는 BSC 지표체계를 설계 하고, 하이디라오의 기업 데이터와 설문조사 결과를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 하이디라오는 BSC의 네 관점(학습 및 성장, 내부 프로세스, 고객, 재무) 간 인과관계가 명확히 나타났으며, 특히 학습 및 성장 관점의 개선이 내부 프로세스 최적화로 이어져 고객 만족도 향상과 재무성과 증대로 연결되는 선순환 구조를 확인하 였다. 직원 교육시간 증가, 이직률 감소, 혁신제안 증가가 요리 개발주기 단축과 서비스 응답시간 개선으로 이어지고, 이는 고객만족도와 재방문율 향상을 통해 매출 및 순이익 증대로 귀결됨을 실증적으로 검증하였다. 본 연구는 외식업체가 BSC를 효과적으로 활용하기 위한 실무적 지침을 제시하고, BSC 이론의 외식산업 적용 가능성을 확장했다는 학술적 의의를 가진다. 향후 연구에서 는 다양한 규모와 유형의 외식업체를 대상으로 한 비교연구 및 디지털 혁신과 지속가능 성을 반영한 확장된 BSC 모델 연구가 필요하다.

This research constructs a performance evaluation system based on the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) for strategic performance management of catering enterprises, and conducts empirical validation focusing on a case analysis of Haidilao, a leading Chinese restaurant chain. Through a methodology combining literature review and case analysis, a BSC indicator system tailored to the characteristics of the catering industry was designed, and corporate data and survey results from Haidilao were analyzed. The findings demonstrate clear causal relationships between the four BSC perspectives (Learning & Growth, Internal Processes, Customer, and Financial) at Haidilao. In particular, the research confirmed a virtuous cycle where improvements in the Learning & Growth perspective lead to optimized Internal Processes, which enhance Customer satisfaction and ultimately result in improved Financial performance. The case analysis empirically verified that increased employee training hours, reduced turnover rates, and more innovation proposals contribute to shortened culinary development cycles and improved service response times, leading to higher customer satisfaction and repeat.

본 연구에서는 단일 및 이중 다공판이 각각 설치된 중온 혐기성 소화조를 이용해서 음폐수의 바이오가스화를 수행하 였다. 기질(음폐수)의 유입은 stagnation phase 동안 반응조 내부 유체 교반을 최소화하기 위해 30분 동안 천천히 유입시 켰다. 염료 확산 실험을 통해 다공판에 의한 Plug flow를 가지는 순환 유량을 파악하였다. 혐기성 소화조 및 기질은 고온 소화를 시도한 “Trial 2”를 제외하고 39oC를 유지시켰다. 평균 메탄 발생량은 단일 다공판이 설치된 System A가 0.28 Sm3 CH4/kg VS, 이중 다공판이 설치된 System B가 0.31 Sm3 CH4/kg VS로, 이중 다공판이 설치된 반응조에서 높은 메 탄 수율을 보였는데, 이는 이중 다공판에 의한 plug flow 흐름 형성에 의해 반응이 촉진된 것에 의한 것으로 판단된다.

Biogasification of the Food-waste Leachate was carried out through the mesophilic anaerobic digesters with single and double perforated plates. The substrate which was Food-waste Leachate was slowly injected to the bottom of reactor for 30 minutes not to cause turbulence in the reactor during stagnation phase. The recirculation pumping rate to show plug flow within digester was determined by dye diffusion experiments. The anaerobic digesters and input substrate temperature were maintained at 39oC except for “Trial 2” which tried to have thermophilic digestion. The average methane productions were 0.28 Sm3 CH4/kg VS in digester with single perforated baffles (System A) and 0.31 Sm3 CH4/kg VS in digester with double perforated baffles (System B), respectively, which showed that double perforated baffles encouraged larger methane yield due to plug flow reaction by double perforated baffle.

EQPS (Effluent Quality Predication System)로 간헐 주입 SBR (Sequencing Batch Reactor) 운전 성과를 파악하였다. EQPS는 질산화에 대한 pH 영향을 파악할 수 있는 관계로 질산화를 통해 발생된 산을 중화시키기 위한 가성 소다 필요량 을 파악할 수 있다. SBR 후단에 설치된 화학적 인 제거 시설이 인과 고형물을 제거하는 관계로 질소제거가 간헐 주입 SBR 의 주 목적이다. 동일한 유기물량을 1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 5회로 나누어 주입시키는 경우 3회로 나누어 주입하는 경우 질소제거 효 율은 93.1%로 가장 높고, 5회로 나누어 주입시키는 경우는 77.9%로 가장 낮은 것으로 니타났다. 시뮬레이션은 간헐 주입 횟 수가 증가할수록 MLSS농도가 낮아지는 것을 보여주어 간헐 주입을 사용하는 경우, 최적의 질소제거를 위해서는 질산 화에 대한 평가가 선행되어야 한다. 간헐 주입 SBR에서 유입수 분할 횟수는 시뮬레이션을 통해 파악되어야 한다.

The performance of intermittent feed SBR (Sequencing Batch Reactor) was evaluated by simulator called as EQPS (Effluent Quality Predication System). Since the EQPS can simulate the effect of pH on nitrification, the required amount of caustic soda to neutralize acids produced from nitrification can be estimated. Also, chemical phosphorus removal can be simulated. Since the phosphorus and particulate are removed at chemical phosphorus removal unit followed by SBR, the main objective of intermittent feed SBR is nitrogen removal. Five feeding schedule such as 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 divided feeds with same organic load were studied and the simulation revealed that the 3 divided feed showed the highest percentage of nitrogen removal as 93.1 %, in contrast that the 5 divided feed showed the lowest percentage of nitrogen removal as 77.9 %. Also, simulation revealed that the higher division of feed, the lower the concentration of MLSS (Mixed Liquor Suspended Solid) in SBR. Since the MLSS concentration is inversely proportional to the number of feed, the nitrification that is prerequisite of denitrification has to be carefully evaluated when influent to SBR is divided. Before considering the division of influent to maximize nitrogen removal, the number of division has to be determined by simulation before implementing.

This paper presents simulation and small-scale experimental tests of a fault current controller. Smart fault controller as proposed and proven conceptually in our previous work is promising technology for the smart power grid where distributed and even stochastic generation sources are prevalent and grid operations are more dynamic. Existing protection schemes simply limiting the fault current to the pre-determined set values may not show best performance and even lead to coordination failures, potentially leading to catastrophic failure. Thus, this paper designs fault current controller with a full bridge thyristor rectifier, embedding a superconducting coil for which the controller is electrically invisible during normal operation because the loss due to the coil is near-zero. When a fault occurs and the resulting current through the superconducting coil exceeds a certain value set intelligently based on the current operating condition of the grid, the magnitude of the fault current is controlled to this desired value by adjusting the firing angles of thyristors such that the overall system integrity is successfully maintained. Detailed time-domain simulations are performed and lab-scale testing circuits are built to demonstrate the desired functionality and efficacy of the proposed fault current controller.

Background: Different cases exist in the measurement of thyroid radiobioassays owing to the individual characteristics of the subjects, especially the potential variation in the counting efficiency. An In situ Object Counting System (ISOCS) was developed to perform an efficiency calibration based on the Monte Carlo calculation, as an alternative to conventional calibration methods. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the applicability of ISOCS to thyroid radiobioassays by comparison with a conventional thyroid monitoring system. Materials and Methods: The efficiency calibration of a portable high-purity germanium (HPGe) detector was performed using ISOCS software. In contrast, the conventional efficiency calibration, which needed a radioactive material, was applied to a scintillator-based thyroid monitor. Four radioiodine samples that contained 125I and 131I in both aqueous solution and gel forms were measured to evaluate radioactivity in the thyroid. ANSI/HPS N13.30 performance criteria, which included the relative bias, relative precision, and root-mean-squared error, were applied to evaluate the performance of the measurement system. Results and Discussion: The portable HPGe detector could measure both radioiodines with ISOCS but the thyroid monitor could not measure 125I because of the limited energy resolution of the NaI(Tl) scintillator. The 131I results from both detectors agreed to within 5% with the certified results. Moreover, the 125I results from the portable HPGe detector agreed to within 10% with the certified results. All measurement results complied with the ANSI/HPS N13.30 performance criteria. Conclusion: The results of the intercomparison program indicated the feasibility of applying ISOCS software to direct thyroid radiobioassays. The portable HPGe detector with ISOCS software can provide the convenience of efficiency calibration and higher energy resolution for identifying photopeaks, compared with a conventional thyroid monitor with a NaI(Tl) scintillator. The application of ISOCS software in a radiation emergency can improve the response in terms of internal contamination monitoring.

The development of the Internet of Things (IoT) has created new issues in network security due to the diverse resource-constrained nature of IoT devices and the massive volume of generated heterogeneous data. One of the most important procedures in network security is intrusion detection system (IDS). The goal of intrusion detection is to locate and stop harmful activity within the network. Machine learning methods are employed to create precise IDS models. This article provides a practical overview of tree-based Machine Learning (ML) algorithms for intrusion detection. It delves into the application of Random Forest (RF), Decision Tree (DT), AdaBoost, and the J48 classifier in the context of network traffic security. The NSL-KDD data set is used to evaluate these approaches. According to experimental results, the Random Forest Classifier outperforms the other techniques.

본 논문에서는 DRAM 기반의 차세대스토리지 시스템이라 할 수 있는 DRAM-SSD의 데이터 처리 성능을 분석하고 평가하였다. 실험결과에 따르면, tpmC 경우에, DDR-SSD는 기존의 HDD보다 22배 빠르고 138% 전력절감 효과를 나타내었고, TPC와 파일처리를 동시에 수행하는 환경에서는 거의 300배 정도의 성능향상 효과를 보여주었다. 이러한 결과는 HDD 시스템은 동일한 유형의 작업을 수행하는데 효과가 있는 반면, DRAM-SSD 시스템은 다른 유형의 여러작업을 수행하는 경우에도 좋은 성능을 발휘할 수 있다는 것을 의미한다.

In this paper, we analyze and evaluate the data processing performance of the NGS system(DRAM-SSD) based on DRAM memory. Our experiments show that DDR-SSD storage is 22 times faster than HDD storage in performance and 138% energy reduction effect in case of tpmC only. Furthermore, DDR-SSD storage is almost 300 times better than HDD storage in performance in case of simultaneous TPC and file processing performance test. This implies that while HDD storage system has the performance advantage on the same task, DRAM-SSD storage system demonstrate the desired target performance even in the multiple different tasks.

As post-harvest processes of onions are carried by a 20 kg-net package which results in high-cost and lowefficiency, especially, the insufficient drying and physical damage of onions after harvesting leads to a huge second loss in storage, we had developed a low-cost, high-efficiency post-harvest bulk handling machinery system by collecting onions on a farm using ton-bags, drying with forced air circulation, and sorting/packaging. The post-harvest bulk handling machinery system consisted of 6 devices, and this study designed an automatic feed hopper with a feeding rate control device, an inclined belt conveyor with a two-step chute, and an automatic pallet unloading device for feeding onions into the sorting/packing line. This study also analyzed the performance and control of the total system. The device had 1-ton handling capacity, but the operational condition was set to increase the capacity. The three-step filling method of pallet by the velocity control of the inclined belt conveyor was applied in the post-harvest bulk handling machinery system for the prevention of physical damage. If one worker was set to operate the total system, the time required to complete one palletized load was approximately 5 minutes and 5 seconds. The calculated daily handling capacity was approximately 94 tons, when the daily actual working time was 8 hours. When the developed system was applied to the managerial size of 2,000 ton, the processing cost per ton of the system was decreased by 19.5%, compared with the existing 20 kg-net package-based handling. The developed post-harvest bulk handling machinery system would be a good substitute for the rapid decline and aging of rural labor.

피평가자 관점의 인사평가효과성의 구성개념 고찰과 측정도구 개발

본 연구는 피평가자 관점에서 인사평가 효과성의 구성개념을 밝히고, 인사평가제도를 운용하는 조직에서 준거로서 활용할 수 있는 측정도구를 제시하고자 하였다. 피평가자 관점의 인사평가 효과성은 태도와 관련된 개념이므로 방법편향의 영향을 감안하기 위해서 정서적 성격특성과 상사에 의한 실제 인사평가 점수도 분석하였다. 이 연구는 3회에 걸친 일련의 연구를 통하여 평가효과성에 관한 측정도구를 조정하면서 평가효과성 개념의 구조를 검증하였다. 연구 1에서는 파일럿 연구로 다양한 조직의 근로자를 대상으로 평가반응으로 일반적으로 활용되는 공정성을 측정하여 일반적인 공정성 연구의 세 요인이 도출되는지 분석한 후에, 전자부품 기술직 근로자를 대상으로 분배 및 절차 공정성, 정확성, 유용성, 평가만족 등 5개의 평가효과성 차원을 검증하였다. 5요인 모형과 5요인을 아우르는 고차요인 모형을 검증한 결과 두 모형 모두 양호하나 5요인 모형이 좀 더 적합한 구조로 나타났다. 또한 정서적 성격특성의 방법편향도 함께 고려한 분석에서는 방법편향이 유의미한 영향을 주지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 연구 2에서는 전자부품 기술직 경력사원을 대상으로 5개 요소의 구조를 다시 확인하여 연구 2와 유사한 요인구조를 확인하였다. 이 연구에서는 상사에 의한 인사평가 점수가 평가효과성 개념구조에 영향을 주는지도 확인하였으며, 측정모형과 구조모형 모두에 유의미한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 연구 3에서는 본 연구의 개념과 측정도구가 다양한 조직에 일반화가 가능한지 반복검증하고, 평가효과성의 차원 중 평가만족 차원을 제도만족과 회기만족 등 두 차원으로 세분화하여 6개 차원에 해당하는 척도로 구성개념을 확인하였다. 다양한 조직의 근로자를 대상으로 한 이 연구의 결과는 6요인 구조의 적합성을 확인하였으며, 연구 1 및 연구 2와 유사하게 6요인 고차요인 구조보다 더 양호한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 20문항으로 구성된 인사평가효과성의 측정도구를 제안하고, 이 측정도구와 관련된 이론적, 실무적 시사점을 논의하였다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the construct of performance evaluation effectiveness from evaluatee's perspective and to suggest its measurement tool for organizations to use it as a criterion of the performance system effectiveness. As the performance evaluation effectiveness from evaluatee's perspective is associated with attitudinal aspect that may be influenced by common method variances, the current study also included in the examination the emotional aspect of personality and the actual performance ratings appraised by supervisors. Through the three sub-studies in total, this research have tested the structure of the performance evaluation effectiveness construct by calibrating the measurement tool each time. Study 1 has started with a pilot research using a sample from various organizations, in which an initial measurement tool with procedural and distributive justice dimensions was set up, with an elimination of the interactional justice due to the unclear dimensional identity. The main analysis of study 1 was conducted using a sample from an electronic part production organization to test the five-dimensional structure of the performance evaluation effectiveness in which two justice dimensions, accuracy, utility, and satisfaction dimensions were included. The study examined a 5-factor model and a model of higher-order structure with the 5 factors under it. Although both models showed good fit indices, the 5-factor model was found as slightly better-fitted model. In the additional examination that included the method variance by emotional personality, the personality did not produce method bias to the structure of the construct. Study 2 was to re-examine the structure of the evaluation effectiveness construct, in which the 5-factor model fit was confirmed similar to study 1. In this study the actual performance record rated by supervisor was also examined to test if it affects as a significant method variance. The results showed that the actual performance had significant effects on both measurement model and structure model as well. In study 3, the construct and the measures were examined in terms of the generalizability across various organizations, as well as the satisfaction dimension was delved into more specifically by dividing it to system satisfaction and session satisfaction. The results of the study using a sample from various organizations confirmed the goodness-of-fit of the 6-factor structure, similar to the findings in study 1 and study 2. Suggestions for future research and practical implications were provided based on the findings.

화재시 지하철 역사의 제·배연 설비 성능 평가 연구

본 연구는 지하철 화재시 제배연 설비의 고효율화로 승강장 및 외부대피로의 원활한 피난 안전성을확보하기 위하여 서울메트로에서 운영하는 1~4호선 역사를 승강장 공조, 상하부 배기, 본선 배기 유무에 따른제연 안전성 등급 평가를 통하여 4가지 등급으로 분류하였다. 안전성 평가 등급 및 제․ 배연 설비 작동 방식을고려하여 4개 역사를 선정하여 T.A.B를 실시하였으며, 이를 통하여 설계 대비 현재 제배연설비의 성능이 현저하게 저하되었음을 확인하였다.

In this study, the stations on Seoul Metro line were categorized into 4 grades as a result of performing the smoke control safety evaluation that considered the conditions of platform air conditioning and exhaust system and mainline exhaust system in a bid to ensure the evacuation safety on platform and evacuation route to outside will be granted in a way of enhancing the efficiency of smoke control and exhaust system at subway stations. 4 stations were designated considering the safety evaluation grade and operation type of smoke control & exhaust system and then T.A.B was conducted. Consequently, the performance of existing smoke control & exhaust system appeared to have been far deteriorated from the design capacity.

WTO 글로벌 경쟁시대 하에서 기업의 해외전시회 참여는 해외시장 개척과 수출확대를 도모하기 위한 주요한 수단으로 활용되고 있다. 이에 한국정부도 해외전시회 참가지원 사업을 통해 중소기업의 해외시장개척과 수출촉진을 도모하고 있다. 특히 동 사업은 해외마케팅 능력이 취약하고 수출전문 인력이 부족하여 해외시장개척에 애로를 겪고 있는 중소기업들에게 매우 필요한 사업이다. 최근 중국 등 아시아 전시산업이 급성장하는 등 해외전시회가 양적으로 다양해지고 있다. 따라서 해외전시회의 참여도 그 효율성을 판단하여 지원할 필요가 있다. 동시에 국내 해외전시회 참가지원 사업들의 성과평가시스템도 재검토하여 새로운 성과지원체계를 마련할 필요성이 제기되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 우선 기존의 국내 해외전시회 참가 지원사업들이 활용하고 있는 성과평가시스템을 분석하여 그 문제점과 새로운 개선 요인들을 찾아내는 것이다. 동시에 개선된 성과평가시스템을 개발하고자 한다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 해외전시회에 참여하고 있는 기업들과 주관단체들이 해외전시회에 참여한 이후, 새로운 성과시스템을 활용하여 그 성과를 객관적으로 측정하고 성과의 효율성을 정확히 판단할 수 있도록 하는 것이다. 그러므로 본연구의 결과는 우선 참여기업들의 전시참여의 관리적 개선점을 파악할 수 있도록 함으로써 참여성과를 극대화하는 데 기여할 수 있을 것이다. 동시에 해외전시회 지원사업을 관리하는 정부와 주관단체(kotra 또는 kbiz)들에게도 사업내용과 운영의 문제와 애로를 개선할 수 있도록 유도함으로써 사업성과를 제고할 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구의 궁극적인 목적은 한국 수출중소기업의 해외시장 진출기회와 수출액을 확대하는 데에 있다.

In an era of global competition led by WTO, participation in an international exhibitions is one of the major means for companies to enter international markets and to increase exports. Via various projects encouraging participation in international exhibitions, the Korean government has promoted entering global market and increasing exports for SMEs. Especially, this governmanetal project is much needed for SMEs that lack global competencies and human resources with expertise on overseas marketing. Recently, the international exhibition industry has grown in both quality and quantity, especially in Asia including China. Therefore, SMEs need to participate in the events after evaluating the effectiveness of the targeted exhibitions. At the same time, needs continues to be raised to review the performance evaluation system and to establish a new performance support system for the projects promoting participation in global exhibitions. Therefore, this study identifies the problems and new improvement factors of the existing projects by analyzing the current performance evaluation system. At the same time, the goal of this study is to develop an improved performance evaluation system. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to help measure the performance and efficiency of the participants and organizers of the exhibition by using the new evaluation system after the exhibition is completed. The results of this study contribute to the maximize the performance by allowing the participating companies to identify potential area of improvement in participation in exhibitions. The government and organizations, such as KOTRA and KBIZ, managing global exhibition projects will be able to enhance project performance by improving the content and operation of projects. 다양한 차폐시스템을 이용한 광산폐기물의 자연방사능 차폐성능평가

이 연구의 목적은 옥천대 흑색 셰일이 분포하는 지역인 보은광산 주변 광산폐기물을 대상으로 벤토나이트, 소석회(포졸란공법), 제강슬래그 등의 차폐재, 복토재 두께 및 입자크기 등을 적용하여 자연방사능의 수준변화 특성을 평가하는 것이다. 채취한 광산폐기물(광물찌꺼기와 폐석 등)의 평균 우라늄함량은 174.8 mg/kg이었으며, 광산폐기물의 주변 자연방사능을 측정한 결과 연간 평균 15.5 mSv의 방사선량이 확인되었다. 차폐특성을평가하기 위하여 내부 부피가 0.3 m3인 대형 컬럼을 현장에 설치하고 광산폐기물 80 kg(0.3 m)을 충진한 후, 그 상부에 0.6 m 두께의 다양한 차폐재를 충진하였다. 차폐성능을 평가한 결과, 벤토나이트로 충진한 경우 초기자연방사능의 80% 이상을 저감할 수 있었다. 또한, 복토재는 입자의 크기 및 다짐 정도에 관계없이 충진 두께가증가될수록 차폐능이 증가되어 연간방사선량 기준과 근접한 수준까지 저감되었다. 따라서 경제성과 현장 적용성을 고려한다면 상기 차폐 두께를 최소 0.6 m 전후로 충진할 경우 적절한 자연방사능 차폐가 가능하며, 특히자갈과 함께 충진할 경우에는 차폐효율이 더욱 증가될 것으로 판단된다.

The objective of this study is to evaluate covering system for natural radioactivity in mine wastes from the Boeun(jeil) mine underlain by the Okcheon black shale using various radiation shielding materials including bentonite, lime(pozzolan), steel slag, thickness of covering materials and particle size of the materials. Concentrations of uranium in the wastes were 174.8 mg/kg, and the average natural radioactivity of the wastes was 15.5 mSv/year. A large scaled in situ column system with 0.3 m3 in volume was adapted. In the column, a 80 kg of the mine waste and a 0.6 m thickness of various covering materials were filled. Among the shielding materials, a column shielded with bentonite reduced up to 80% of natural radioactivity. In addition, the radioactivities were decreased with increasing thickness of covering materials irrespective of particle size and compaction ratio of the materials. Therefore, natural radioactivity from mine waste can be controlled by covering system with over 0.6 m thickness of covering materials, particularly the efficiency of the covering system filled with mixture of gravels and covering materials will be enhanced.

Advancements in 3D printing technology have facilitated the development of implantable medical devices capable of replacing damaged human tissues. These devices are primarily fabricated from synthetic polymers with biocompatible and biodegradable properties. In particular, biodegradable polymers require appropriate degradation rates that match the pace of tissue regeneration, making performance evaluation under conditions similar to the human body essential. In this study, we developed a testing method to assess the performance of 3D-printed absorbable barrier membrane fabricated from polycaprolactone. Human biomimetic conditions were simulated using artificial saliva and phosphate-buffered saline, and the changes in performance before and after exposure were evaluated. Domestic and international standards and guidelines were analyzed to determine relevant test items and procedures, and the reliability of the proposed evaluation method was verified through validation tests. The results showed no observable changes in appearance, while the changes in dimensional and porosity characteristics were not statistically significant. In contrast, decreases in mass and molecular weight were observed, and tensile strength showed a substantial reduction, with all three parameters exhibiting statistically significant changes. These findings indicate that performance degradation is more closely associated with the reduction in molecular weight and the resulting decrease in mechanical strength than with changes in appearance. Based on these results, the study highlights the necessity of evaluating biodegradable implantable medical devices under conditions that simulate the implantation environment, and it is expected to contribute to enhancing the reliability of performance evaluation for future devices.
