An important process for making a new class of polymeric material is called microcellular plastics invented at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Many researches for microcellular plastics have been done in various ways and fields. But a research for the polymer which has previous history has not been tried yet. In this paper, weight gain of $CO_2$ was measured in a polymer matrix which had previous history and no history. In each case, experimental data for solubility and diffusivity was shown. A model for $CO_2$ solution process in molecular range was made. The conclusion of this paper is that the previous history has an effect on diffusivity but not solubility and the previous history made by $CO_2$ in supercritical state makes diffusivity of $CO_2$ larger.

콘크리트의 염소이온 확산계수의 시간의존성에 대한 실험적 고찰

콘크리트 중의 염화물이온 확산특성의 평가는 농도 차에 의한 방법이 보통이지만, 이 방법은 보통 수개월에서 수년으로 많은 시간이 소요된다. 따라서 최근의 연구는 주로 전위차를 이용하여 염화물이온의 이동을 전기적으로 촉진시켜 전기화학적 이론으로 해석하는 촉진 염화물 확산계수 평가 방법들이 주로 연구되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 다양한 촉진시험 방법 중 하나인 Tang 등의 방법을 이용하여 구한 염화물이온 확산계수와 인공해수 침지시험을 통하여 구한 농도차 염화물이온 확산계수와의 비교 평가를 실시하였다. 포틀랜드시멘트 콘크리트 및 고로슬래그미분말을 시멘트 질량의 40 및 60% 혼합한 고로슬래그미분말 혼합 콘크리트에 대하여 각각 물-결합재비 40, 45, 50 및 60%로 하여 촉진 염화물이온 침투깊이 및 염화물이온의 확산계수를 평가하였다. 염화물이온의 확산계수 및 침투깊이는 시멘트의 수화가 진행될수록, 물-결합재비가 작을수록 크게 감소하였다. 또한 시험 방법별 염화물이온 확산계수의 회귀분석 결과에 의하면, 촉진 및 침지시험으로부터 구한 염화물이온의 확산계수 사이에는 선형함수 형태의 상관관계가 있었으며 결정계수 0.96으로 좋은 상관성을 나타내었다.

It is time-consuming to estimate chloride diffusivity of concrete by concentration difference test. For the reason chloride diffusivity of concrete is mainly tested by electrically accelerated method, which is accelerating the movement of chloride ion by potential difference. In this study, portland cement concrete and concrete containing with ground granulated blast-furnace slag (40 and 60% of cement by weight) with water-cementitious material ratio 40, 45, 50 and 60% were manufactured. To compare with chloride diffusivity calculated from the electrically accelerated test and immersed test in artifical seawater, chloride diffusivity tests were conducted. From the results of regression analysis, regression equation between accelerated chloride diffusivity and immersed chloride diffusivity was linear function. And the determinant coefficient was 0.96 for linear equation.

Thin-layer Drying Kinetics of Robusta Coffee

This paper was aimed to study the drying kinetics of coffee and to investigate the thin-layer drying kinetics of coffee by using a convective air dryer. The coffee was dried for the temperatures of 40, 50 and 60 ℃ with relative humidity in the range of 14-25% the airflow rate fixed at 1 m/s. According to the experiment result, the drying rate curve showed that drying process took place only in the falling rate period. Seven thin layer drying models (Newton, Page, Henderson and Pabis, Logarithmic, Wang and Singh, Two terms, Modified Henderson and Pabis) were fitted to the experimental moisture content data. The Two-trem model was found to be a better model for describing the characteristics of coffee for the temperatures of 40, 50 and 60 ℃. The effective moisture diffusivity of coffee increased when the drying temperature increased. The value was in the range of 4.5028 x 10-11 to 6.4803 x 10-11 m2/s.

Wideness variation technique is compounded the smooth diffusivity-vibration status of the fulgurate-space realization level (FSRL) on the wideness realization morph. The realization level condition by the wideness realization morph system is associated with the diffusivity-vibration system. As to search a position of the dot situation, we are acquired of the wideness value with constructed-point point by the diffusivity upper structure. The concept of realization level is composed the reference of fulgurate-space level for variation signal by the wideness vibration morph. Further displaying a smooth variation of the FSRL of the maximum-minimum in terms of the diffusivity-vibration morph, and wideness position vibration that was the a wideness value of the far variation of the Wid-rm-FA-αMAX-MIN with 23.24±3.37 units, that was the a wideness value of the convenient variation of the Wid-rm-CO-αMAX-MIN with 7.83±1.32 units, that was the a wideness value of the flank variation of the Wid-rm-FL-αMAX-MIN with 2.99±0.51 units, that was the a wideness value of the vicinage variation of the Wid-rm-VI-αMAX-MIN with 0.51±(-0.01) units. The diffusivity vibration will be to evaluate at the smooth ability of the diffusivity-vibration morph with constructed-point by the wideness realization level on the FSRL that is displayed the fulgurate-space morph by the realization level system. Diffusivity realization system will be possible to control of a morph by the special signal and to use a wideness data of diffusivity vibration level.

고정화 미생물의 기질 유효 확산

Ca-alginate에 의하여 포괄된 고정화 Zymomonas mobilios의 담체내부에 있어서 균체자체활성을 물질이동 현상으로 규명하고자 하였다. 또한 균체활성을 장기간 유지할 수 있을때 기질의 유효확산에 다른 반응속도를 고찰하여 균일상계로의 균체량농도를 결정할 수 있는 고정화 최적화를 구하고 그 활성의 변화에 대한 경향을 비교검토하였다. 반응속도와 균체량의 관계가 이론치에 잘 일치되므로써 기질의 유효확산계수, De 와 고정화균체량, Cc 의 상관관계를 결정할 수 있었고 이로부터 고정화 균체량 250g-dry cell/ l에서 공극율 0로 될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 실험치의 결과는 Michaelis-Menten형반응의 0차와 1차사이를 만족하였다

The fiffusion characteristics of substrate of varing biomass concentrations into and from Ca- alginate gel beads in well-stirred solutions were investigated. Ca-alginate gel beads were immobilized by Zymomonas mobilis or free from cells. The values of the diffusion coefficient of substrate were calculated by means of the method of Least squares and Random pore model. Reaction rates are expressed by the Michaelis-Menten type equation, and the results are compared with experimental data. Intraparticle effective diffusivity of substrate resistance on reaction by using immobilized Z.mobilis entrapped by Ca-alginated gel seemed to be restricted by cell density. The experimental data also indicated relationship between the effective diffusivity and the cell concentration used in the gel preparation

Lithium diffusivity of fluorine-free and -doped tin-nickel (Sn-Ni) film model electrodes with improved interfacial (solid electrolyte interphase (SEI)) stability has been determined, utilizing variable rate cyclic voltammetry (CV). The method for interfacial stabilization comprises fluorine-doping on the electrode together with the use of electrolyte including fluorinated ethylene carbonate (FEC) solvent and trimethyl phosphite additive. It is found that lithium diffusivity of Sn is largely dependent on the fluorine-doping on the Sn-Ni electrode and interfacial stability. Lithium diffusivity of fluorine-doped electrode is one order higher than that of fluorine-free electrode, which is ascribed to the enhanced electrical conductivity and interfacial stabilization effect.

A new method of measuring the thermal diffusivity of solid material at room temperature with photothermal displacement method is proposed. The influence of the parameters on phase lag was studied. From the minimum position of phase of measured deflection with respect to the pump beam the thermal diffusivity of the materials can be obtained. The minimum position of phase is determined using multiparameter least-square regression fitting. The experimental values for different samples obtained by applying new method are in good agreement with the literature values.

This study reports the root cause of the improved rate performance of $LiFePO_4$ after Cr doping. By measuring the chemical diffusion coefficient of lithium ($D_{Li}$) using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), the correlation between the electrochemical performance of $LiFePO_4$ and Li diffusion is acquired. The diffusion constants for $LiFePO_4$/C and $LiFe_{0.97}Cr_{0.03}PO_4$/C measured from CV are $2.48{\times}10^{-15}$ and $4.02{\times}10^{-15}cm^2s^{-1}$, respectively, indicating significant increases in diffusivity after the modification. The difference in diffusivity is also confirmed by EIS and the $D_{Li}$ values obtained as a function of the lithium content in the cathode. These results suggest that Cr doping facilitates Li ion diffusion during the charge-discharge cycles. The low diffusivity of the $LiFePO_4$/C leads to the considerable capacity decline at high discharge rates, while high diffusivity of the $LiFe_{0.97}Cr_{0.03}PO_4$/C maintains the initial capacity, even at high C-rates.

This study examines the effects of a carbon coating on the electrochemical performances of $LiFePO_4$. The results show that the capacity of bare $LiFePO_4$ decreased sharply, whereas the $LiFePO_4$/C shows a well maintained initial capacity. The Li ion diffusivity of the bare and carbon coated $LiFePO_4$ is calculated using cyclic voltammetry (CV) to determine the correlation between the electrochemical performance of $LiFePO_4$ and Li diffusion. The diffusion constants for $LiFePO_4$ and $LiFePO_4$/C measured from CV are $6.56{\times}10^{-16}$ and $2.48{\times}10^{-15}\;cm^2\;s^{-1}$, respectively, indicating considerable increases in diffusivity after modifications. The Li ion diffusivity (DLi) values as a function of the lithium content in the cathode are estimated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The effects of the carbon coating as well as the mechanisms for the improved electrochemical performances after modification are discussed based on the diffusivity data.

An experimental study of the absorption of CS$_{2}$ in the secondary amine diethanolamine(DEA) was performed in this work. The primary objectives were to investigate an analogy between N2O and CS$_{2}$ permitting estimation of the physical solubility and diffusivity of the sulfur gases in the reacting amino solutions. The solubilities of CS$_{2}$ in water at 25, 40 and 6$0^{\circ}C$ has been measured. The data show fair agreement with previous literature values. The solubility of CS$_{2}$ in 5-25 weight % polyethylene glycol has been measured in order to investigate a possible analogy between CS$_{2}$ and N$_{2}$O The diffusivities of CS$_{2}$ in water and the reaction rate between CS$_{2}$ and DEA has been measured at 25 and 4$0^{\circ}C$, using a wetted sphere apparatus operated at approximately 1/3 atmospheres pressure, which is a previously untried method.

Increased white matter diffusivity associated with phantom limb pain

Background: We utilized diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) to evaluate the cerebral white matter changes that are associated with phantom limb pain in patients with unilateral arm amputation. It was anticipated that this would complement previous research in which we had shown that changes in cerebral blood volume were associated with the cerebral pain network. Methods: Ten patients with phantom limb pain due to unilateral arm amputation and sixteen healthy age-matched controls were enrolled. The intensity of phantom limb pain was measured by the visual analogue scale (VAS) and depressive mood was assessed by the Hamilton depression rating scale. Diffusion tensor-derived parameters, including fractional anisotropy, mean diffusivity, axial diffusivity (AD), and radial diffusivity (RD), were computed from the DTI. Results: Compared with controls, the cases had alterations in the cerebral white matter as a consequence of phantom limb pain, manifesting a higher AD of white matter in both hemispheres symmetrically after adjusting for individual depressive moods. In addition, there were associations between the RD of white matter and VAS scores primarily in the hemispheres related to the missing hand and in the corpus callosum. Conclusions: The phantom limb pain after unilateral arm amputation induced plasticity in the white matter. We conclude that loss of white matter integrity, particularly in the hemisphere connected with the missing hand, is significantly correlated with phantom limb pain.

The present study deals with a numerical analysis on the island growth of heteroepitaxial thin-films through local surface diffusivity enhancement. A non-linear governing equation for the surface waviness evolution in lattice-mismatched material systems is developed for the case of spatially-varying surface diffusivity. Results show that a flat film that is stable under constant diffusivity conditions evolves to form nanostructures upon externally-induced spatial diffusivity modulation. The periodicity of waviness can be controlled by changing the modulation parameters, which allows for generation of pattern arrays. The present study therefore points towards a post-deposition treatment technique that achieves controllability and order in the structure formation process for applications in nanoelectronics and thin-film devices.
