This essay aims to explore a relation between utility and justice in Bentham and Mill, which enables us to connect the elements of goodness in the area of the greatest happiness with those of right and wrong in that of justice in utilitarianism. Bentham and Mill, first of all, try to establish the principle of utility, in particular, for maximizing social happiness. It is their works that improve mental environments and degrees of individuals from the 18th to 19th century in England. Acting to maximize general happiness and producing the greatest happiness are the core notion of utilitarian justice: praising those who produce the greatest happiness, but punishing those who harm to others. In Bentham, the conception of punishment is the key way to transform the evil to be happiness, even if it is the necessary evil in itself. Mill considers the importance of the first moral principles like rights and equality which have historically developed in the minds of human lives as the sense of justice. In Mill, unless an agent was protected in exercising his/her rights, any invader must be punished for improving social happiness of higher quality. To sum up, it would be made an obvious conclusion that the problem of punishment is one of main roots to produce the greatest and highest happiness of the greatest and highest numbers.
What occurs to the mind with ‘ethical leadership’ is usually a CEO’s ethical leadership in business. However, ethical leadership can be applied to every organization and society as well as to an individual. Thus How we define the meaning of being “ethical” is a very complex and vague question to answer; every person has different criteria by which they can tell the difference between right and wrong, and those criteria can be differently interpreted based on the situation which the person is placed in. Likewise, ethical leadership in business can also be differently applied based on the situation, the surrounding circumstances, and the leader who practices ethical leadership. For example, there are a variety of factors that can affect ethical leadership in a company, such as the personality, personal beliefs and emotion of the CEO, business environment, corporate vision, business area, business consumers, corporate size, workforce, and the characteristic (type) of the task. Therefore, there is no one-size-fits-all ethical leadership theory. However, ethical leadership and ethical management are prerequisites for corporate social responsibility and corporate sustainability. This research reviews several ethical leadership theories, which provide answers and criteria to such questions as how a leader should behave and which behavior is right and fair, or which behavior a good man would show, allowing leaders or business owners to use those criteria to understand and reinforce their ethical leadership behaviors. This research provides the principles of ethical leadership, which leaders can use as their conduct code for leadership behaviors. Specifically, they can make use of the principles of ethical leadership, while considering questions like these: Am I showing my respect to others? Am I caring about them? Am I behaving fair to others? Am I honest to others? And Am I serving the community? That is, leadership is the process of influence which all the members of an organization share. Leadership is not limited to a certain person and to his position or role in the organization. Followership is also a part of leadership. Recently, experts and scholars have put more emphasis on the connection between leadership and followership. This gives us the notion that the most important element of ethical leadership is the relationship between a leader and followership. In conclusion, to become a successful ethical leader requires being attentive to others’ needs, being fair, and being considerate and taking care of others.

In relation to issue to consideration of interesting, he was to establish certain standards. We should not forget that he is utilitarian.

This paper aims to consider ‘banality of evil’ and ‘selectivity of good’ and to show a possibility of overcoming them by egoism. Banality of evil means that people are doing evil things normally. Those who follow it cannot recognize morally wrong actions and feel responsibility for them. On the other hand, selectivity of good is that people do good things only when they can have influence on a selected person by them. Therefore, it is hard to do good things for a person who follows selectivity of good, because he or she is always afraid of insufficiency of his or her good effects. For lack of one’s own desire and responsibility, both of banality of evil and selectivity of good cannot represent morality. In my view, this is caused by ignorance of self. I think that people need to act by egoism, which is based on a moral sense. Because egoism has possibility of acting well in everyday life. banality of evil, selectivity of good, ignorance, egoism, a moral sense
