This study aimed to compare the effects of two latissimus dorsi muscle (LD) stretching exercises on the shoulder joint flexion angle, LD muscle tone, and thoracic mobility in subjects with short LD. This was a cross-sectional and randomized controlled trial. The study included 28 subjects with a short LD. Participants showing a range of shoulder flexion of <170° in the LD length test were identified as having a short LD. The subjects were randomly assigned to either Group 1 (shoulder abduction + contralateral trunk side bending) or Group 2 (shoulder abduction + shoulder external rotation). LD muscle tone and stiffness were measured using Myoton PRO. Thoracic mobility of the middle part was measured using a circular tape measure. Both groups 1 and 2 showed significantly increased range of shoulder flexion and middle thoracic mobility, and the LD muscle tone of the distal and lower parts and LD muscle stiffness of the distal parts decreased significantly after interventions (p<.05). In the comparison between groups, no significant differences were noted in all dependent variables. Therefore, this study suggests that both LD stretching exercises can be effective in increasing the range of shoulder flexion, reducing LD muscle tone and stiffness, and improving chest mobility.

This study is an experimental study that examines the change in balance ability when elite male athletes with high ankle injury rates are applied with foot intrinsic muscle, gluteus medius muscle exercise, and combination exercise. An experiment was conducted on 33 male students in their 20s without musculoskeletal and nervous system diseases. Thirty-three subjects were randomly divided into the intrinsic muscle group (IEG), the gluteus medius muscle group (GEG), and the combination exercise group (CEG) to conduct experiments including common exercise. As a result of the study, IEG (-8.39±2.16), GEG (-7.26±3.21), and CEG (-12.47±2.94) all had significant differences in dynamic balance ability, while static balance ability were significant in CEG (1.50±0.74) and GEG (0.85±1.11). In addition, CEG is static (p<.05) and dynamic (p<.001) compared to other exercise groups. It was found that there was a significant difference in the range of changes in the balance ability. The above results suggest that it can be used for ankle injury and post-injury rehabilitation in elite athletes with high ankle injury rates, and further studies need to be conducted, including more subjects and female elite athletes, not male elite athletes.

Leg-length discrepancy can cause not just issues in daily life, but functional problems such as abnormal walking, decreased balance, and musculoskeletal concerns. Squat exercises are highly stable and can exert a large for strength because the same strength is applied to both lower extremities. However, for a subject with leg-length discrepancy, balanced strength is not applied to the lower extremities; this can cause structural malalignment and unbalanced muscle activation. It is necessary to determine the influence of functional leg-length discrepancy on thigh muscle activation during squat exercises. Subjects with no leg-length discrepancy performed squats under two conditions—no leg-length discrepancy and simulated leg-length discrepancy with the left foot on a 3-cm-thick plate. We measured muscle activation of the vastus lateralis, vastus medialis, and medial and lateral hamstring by electromyography. The activations of the vastus lateralis and vastus medialis were significantly greater without leg-length discrepancy than with it (p<.05). Medial and lateral hamstring activation exhibited no significant difference. No muscles showed significant difference between the right and left legs in terms of activation under any condition. Therefore, leg-length discrepancy led to inefficiency in squat exercises and this factor should be removed prior to exercise.

This study aimed to identify the effect of one-leg squat using a slide on hip strength, and Q angle in patients with chronic hip joint pain patients. Thirty participants subjects were recruited for this study. The experimental group applied one-leg squat using a slide and performed to intervention 3 times a week, 4 weeks, 3 sets of 10 times were performed. All participants have measured hip strengths, and Q angle in before and after the intervention. After the interventions, experimental group showed greater improvement in side bridge, hip abduction, external rotation, extension strength and Q angle than in the pre-test (p<.05). This study shows that one-leg squat using a slide improved hip strengths and Q angle in patients with chronic hip joint pain. These findings suggest that the one-leg squat using a slide has a potential for benefits on hip strengths and Q angle.

The purpose of this study is to gain an understanding about how job satisfaction affects actual performance of physical therapists. Current year of 2022, 273 participants working as physical therapists were surveyed from September 8 to September 15, 2022. The questionnaire consisted of 69 questions, divided into 4 main parts; general characteristics; professionalism; satisfaction; turnover intention and stressor. Collected data were analyzed using three different methods (1) independent t-test, (2) one-way ANOVA, (3) multiple linear regression analysis. 100% of the participants are fully aware that expert professionalism is necessary in this field of physiotherapy. Therefore, individuals are striving to provide high-quality treatments by increasing their professional capabilities. The results have shown that they are investing 6 to 9 years (34.1%) of time mainly into attending related institutions and academies (50%). Though they are satisfied with their own choice of profession, inferior working systems, lack of social awareness, concerning wage, promotions, etc. hindered their level of satisfaction. As a result, the circumstances have led to job stress and turnover. If improvements such as adjustment of wages, and promotion matching with levels of professionalism, acceptable measures are systematically added as a part of the job, it is plausible that physical therapists can provide high-quality medical services as professionals with stability.

The purpose of this study was to investigate changes of stress-related hormones, immune response and stress perception level during competition among middle and high school elite table tennis players. The study subjects were 10 female players and 10 male players. Stress-related hormone and immune response measured at rest, before and after game by saliva collected from them. Stress perception level used visual analogue scale (VAS). The results of this study were as follows: Saliva cortisol according to gender differences showed significant interaction effects of between group×time (p=.039). Also, school levels didn’t show significant interaction effects while in the main effects verification was significant differences among group (p=.044) and time (p=.000). Saliva dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) according to gender differences showed significant differences in time (p=.015) which is, male players were significantly increases between measurement time but female players were significantly decreases at after game. School levels didn’t show significant interaction effects while in the main effects verification was significant differences among group (p=.007) and time (p=.016). Saliva IgA according to gender differences showed no significant interaction effects, in the main effects verification was significant differences between time (p=.040). In the school levels was no significant changes in the interaction effects and main effects. Stress perception according to gender differences was no significant interaction effects, but in the main effects verification was significant differences among group (p=.040) and time (p=.000). Stress perception according to school levels showed significant the interaction effects of between group×Time (p=.005). In the correlation between cortisol, DHEA and VAS, there showed significant difference. Therefore, the present study will hopefully provide basic data for the development of programs to minimize the stress of table tennis players. And further studies are needed to understand its topic.

Prolonged standing causes high blood pressure in the veins of the legs, contributing to damage to the valves of the veins, leading to chronic venous disease. This condition can be alleviated by activating the calf muscle pumps. This study was conducted to determine the effects of calf pump exercise on leg venous blood flow and to compare its effects in people with and without previous history of leg problem. Twenty-eight participants without a diagnosis of varicose veins and without limitations in ankle mobility were recruited for this study, and they were divided into two groups according to the presence or absence of a history of leg problems. The delay of blood flow was measured using ultrasonic images with a color Doppler, and the delay time was measured using the iPhone 11 camera application. Calf pump exercise was performed by lowering and raising heel while standing with 5 cm high wooden board touching the forefoot. There was found a significant difference in the delay time of blood flow between the groups with and without the history after the exercise (p<0.05). This finding suggests that calf pump exercises may help improve venous flow in the legs, especially in people with a history of leg problems.

This study aims to examine additional growth promoting effect of Vertical jump training in children with Growth hormone deficiency (GHD) during Growth hormone (GH) therapy. In this study, 22 children participated ,and all of them were diagnosed with GHD and receiving GH treatment. They randomly assigned to the experiential group (n=11) and the control group (n=11). The experimental group received Vertical jump training sessions along with GH therapy secretion, and the control group were given GH therapy only. GH therapy was provided for both groups once a day, 6times a week for 12 weeks. The participants in the experimental group were instructed to perform three different vertical jump sessions (4 weeks per session). After 12 weeks of the intervention exercise program, the average value of height and body mass index (BMI) of all participants were measured to examine the significant difference between the two groups. First, the vertical jump exercise group showed a significant increase in the height compared to the control group(p<0.05). Second, the vertical jump exercise group showed a significant increase in the leg length compared to the control group(p<0.05). Third, there was no significant difference in body mass index between the two groups(p>0.05). The findings of this study suggest that vertical jump performance in children being treated with growth hormone therapy may improve additional height growth. Therefore, vertical jump training as a component of the growth hormone therapy plan may play an important role to stimulate growth in children when used with GH secretion.

This study investigated the current status of medical use in the metropolitan and non-metropolitan cities of pediatric patients living in Jeollanam-province, South Korea. It used Health care benefit statistics data from 2016 to 2020. The results of chi-squared test and logistic regression on a total of 5,687 extracted cases are as follows. First, as a general characteristic of pediatric patients living in Jeollanam-province, there were more males than females and found more improved results among them. In addition, when it comes to administrative district, the frequency of county was high. Respiratory system diseases were high as the main diagnosis, and musculoskeletal system surgery was high as the main surgery. Second, differences in medical use in the metropolitan and non-metropolitan cities according to the characteristics of the analyzed subjects showed significant differences in children's age, treatment results, and administrative districts. Significant differences were shown in birth deformities, deformations, and chromosome abnormalities. Third, when patients had surgery and the severity was 1 point and there were 1000 beds or more, there were substantial differences in medical use in the metropolitan cities. Fourth, in the case of male, residents Suncheon-city, someone who had surgery, the severity was 1 point, and 500 to 999 beds showed significantly higher in medical use in the metropolitan cities. Based on these results, it is believed that qualitative policies should be established rather than the increase the number of medical institutions to resolve the regional imbalance in the medical use of pediatric patients.
