This study aimed to develop a web-based simulation training for communication with individuals at high risk of suicide and to verify its effectiveness among nursing students. The study employed a quasi-experimental design using a nonequivalent control group pretest–posttest approach. The experimental group (n = 24) ) participated in an eight-week web-based communication simulation training (October 21–December 13, 2024), whereas the control group (n = 24) received conventional lecture-based instruction. The pretest was administered on October 18, 2024, and the posttest on December 16, 2024. The experimental group showed a significant increase in communication self-efficacy (t=3.18, p=.001) and communication competency (t=2.89, p=.001) compared to the control group, whereas no significant effect was found for interpersonal competence (t=–1.96, p=.057). These findings suggest that incorporating this program as a supplementary component in nursing education curricula can strengthen students’ core competencies and enhancing interpersonal competence may require extending the program intervention duration or adopting repetitive and in-depth interventions.

This study aims to reinterpret the concept of mimesis within a digital context and propose a prototype design for a web-based performance simulation platform. The proposed platform is designed to enable stage directors to pre-visualize elements such as stage setup, actor movements, sound, and lighting within a virtual environment, thereby enhancing the efficiency and creativity of performance planning. The prototype was designed to enable interaction among performance elements by incorporating 3D modeling of a proscenium stage, integrating motion-capture-based FBX data, and utilizing timeline-based control. Furthermore, it features a real-time 3D rendering architecture leveraging Three.js and WebGL, allowing it to run seamlessly in a web browser without additional plugins. This research is significant as it establishes a conceptual foundation demonstrating the potential for integrating performing arts with digital technology. Future research should involve practical implementation and field validation to confirm its real-world utility.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of web-based simulation and high-fidelity simulation on acute heart disease patient care. Methods: The project used a comparative study design with two simulation-based training modalities. A total of 144 nursing students participated in this study: 76 students in a web-based simulation, and 68 students in a high-fidelity simulation. Participants rated their self-efficacy, problem-solving ability, interest in learning, level of stress, satisfaction with the simulation experience, and level of difficulty of the simulation. Results: The scores for self-efficacy, problem-solving ability, and interest in learning including interest in clinical training in the high-fidelity simulation group was higher than in the web-based simulation group. However, there were no significant differences in interest in learning, including interest in nursing knowledge, and in lab training, level of stress, satisfaction with the simulation experience, and level of difficulty of the simulation. Conclusion: A high-fidelity simulation of acute heart disease patient care might be beneficial to developing many more abilities for nursing students than would a web-based simulation. Also, since the web-based simulation improved interest in nursing knowledge, it could be a viable alternative to high-fidelity simulation. Further study is needed to verify the effects of varied levels of simulation-based care with more rigorous outcomes.

IoT 환경은 다양한 형태의 센서들에 의하여 서비스 규모가 결정된다. 다양한 센서의 정보를 중계하기 위한 센서 게이트웨이는 대표적인 미들웨어 시스템이며, 데이터와 그래픽을 이용하여 정보를 도시하는 인포그래픽은 실시간 정보를 효율적으로 전시하기위한 클라이언트 시스템이다. 대량의 정보를 효율적으로 전시하기 위한 실시간 인포그래픽을 개발하기 위하여 IoT 환경과 유사한 테스트 베드가 필요하다. 기존의 네트워크 시스템 개발 시 사용되던 테스트 도구들은 주로 단위 기능 테스트 및 성능 위주의 테스트에 적합하도록 구성되어 있다. 본 논문에서는 실시간 인포그래픽 개발에 필요한 의미 있는 다양한 정보를 생성 할 수 있는 웹 기반의 시뮬레이션 프레임워크를 제안하고, 기존의 네트워크 성능 테스트 도구들과의 테스트 기능 비교를 통하여 제안하는 시스템의 기능을 평가한다.

The service size of an IoT environment is determined by the various types of sensors. A gateway for relaying sensor information from various sensors is a representative middleware system, and an infographics showing the information with a graphical presentation of data and information is a client system for representing real-time information efficiently, it is necessary a similar test bed with IoT environment to develop a real-time infographics displaying a large amount of information effectively. The testing tools used in developing the existing network systems are mostly made to be suitable for functional testing and performance testing of the driven unit. In this paper, we proposed a mean which is web-based simulation framework to create a variety of information required for real-time infographics development, and evaluate the function of the system proposed by the test function of the comparison with the previous network test tool.

Purpose: This study was designed to develop and evaluate the a web-based simulation program on patient rights education using integrated decision making model into values clarification for nurse students. Methods: The program was designed based on the Aless & Trollip model and Ford, Trygstad-Durland & Nelms's decision model. Focus groups interviews, surveys on learning needs for patient rights, and specialist interviews were used to develop for simulation scenarios and decision making modules. The simulation program was evaluated between May, 2011 and April, 2012 by 30 student nurses using an application of the web-based program evaluation tools by Chung. Results: Simulation content was composed of two scenarios on patient rights: the rights of patients with HIV and the rights of psychiatric patients. It was composed of two decision making modules which were established for value clarifications, behavioral objective formations, problems identifications, option generations, alternatives analysis, and decision evaluations. The simulation program was composed of screens for teacher and learner. The program was positively evaluated with a mean score of $3.14{\pm}0.33$. Conclusion: These study results make an important contribution to the application of educational simulation programs for nurse students' behavior and their decision making ability in protecting the patient rights.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a nursing education program using Web-based simulation for the care of patients with intracranial pressure. An additional aim was to verify the effectiveness of nursing knowledge, problem-solving competency, a critical thinking disposition, and the expectation of learning transfer. Methods: This was an experimental study using repeated measures with a nonequivalent control group. The participants were senior nursing students, randomly assigned to experimental (n=30) and control (n=30) groups. The experimental group participated in a nursing education program that included Web-based lectures, pre-briefing, Web-based simulation, and debriefing, whereas the control group’s program included only Web-based lectures. Results: A significant difference was found between the experimental and control groups in problem-solving competency (F=5.84, p=.005), critical thinking disposition (F=4.25, p=.021), and the expectation of learning transfer (t=2.30, p<.025). Also, a significant interaction between time and group was found in problem-solving competency and critical thinking disposition. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the education program using Web-based simulation positively affected nursing students’ problem-solving competency, critical thinking disposition, and the expectation of learning transfer. Therefore, this program can be considered a valuable aid in educating nursing students.

Purpose: This study aimed to explore nursing students' experience of learning cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in a web-based virtual simulation (vSim) through analysis of the reflection journals. Method: From June to July 2020, data were collected from 48 fourth-year nursing students who performed the simulation by reviewing prompt feedback on their CPR performance. The contents of the reflection journals were analyzed using NVivo qualitative data analysis software. Results: Nursing students experienced unfamiliarity with the English-based virtual environment as well as psychological pressure and anxiety about emergencies. Incorrect interventions were identified in the following order of frequency: violation of defibrillator guidelines, missing fundamental nursing care, error in applying an electrocardiogram monitor, inadequate initial response to cardiac arrest, insufficient chest compression, and inadequate ventilation. Lastly, the participants learned the importance of embodied knowledge, for knowing and acting accurately and reacting immediately, and their attitudes as nurses, such as responsibility, calmness, and attentiveness. Learning strategies included memory retention through repetition, real-time feedback analysis, pre-learning, and imagining action sequences in advance. The level of achievement, time required, CPR quality, and confidence improved with behavior-modification strategies developed through self-reflection. Conclusion: Educational interventions that are based on understanding accurate algorithms can strengthen self- awareness of mistakes to improve efficient imparting of CPR education.

A Web-based dynamic simulation system, called O-DYN, for multibody dynamic systems is developed. All the interfaces of the system are accessible via Web browsers, such as Netscape or Explorer. The system uses a block-diagram type O-DYN/Modeler developed in JAVA Applet as a preprocessor. The O-DYN postprocessor composed of O-DYN/Plotter and O-DYN/Animator is developed in JAVA Applet. The O-DYN/Solver for predicting the dynamic behavior is run on the server. Anyone who wants to simulate the dynamics of multibody systems or share results data can access the analysis system over the Internet regardless of their OS, platform, or location.

The development of a Web-based powertrain performance simulation system is introduced. The development approach of system architecture and each module is introduced along with the H/W and S/W used. The interface with all users is developed via a JAVA Applet. The powertrain modeling and other job history data of a user is managed systematically on the server by database to increase the reusability of the data. A self-developed program using object-oriented programming is used as a solver for the performance simulation. The graph tool for the analysis of simulation results has the collaboration support developed based on JAVA so that synchronous users can view the same result. As a result, the powertrain simulation is possible only with Web-browser for the user and the collaboration support among the relevant engineers is possible.

본 연구의 목적은 코로나 팬데믹 시기에 웹기반 시뮬레이션 실습을 포함한 임상 실습 경험의 의미를 파악하는 것이다. 웹기반 시뮬레이션 실습과 임상 실습 경험을 포커스그룹 인터뷰를 통하여 자료를 수집하고 내용분석 방법에 따라 분석하였다. 포커스 그룹에 의한 심충 면담내용을 분석한 결과, 2개의 구성요소와 7개의 주제 묶음, 18개의 주제로 나타났다. 첫 번째 구성요소로, 임상 실습은 4개의 주제 묶음으로 ‘팬데믹 상황에서의 불안한 실습의 출발’, ’다양한 사례에 의한 직접 경험‘, 미래 간호사로서 준비하는 훈련 기회’, ‘ 수행의 부담감 및 제한적 경험’이었다. 두 번째 구성요소인 웹기반 시뮬레이션 실습은 3개 의 주제 묶음으로 ‘미완성의 간호실습’, ‘가상공간에서의 임상 간호에 대한 간접경험’, ‘통합 실습 모델의 요구’로 분류되었다. 간호교육과정에서 임상 실습은 매우 중요한 부분이나 학생들이 실제로 현장에서 수행할 수 있는 간호는 매우 제한적이다. 따라서 관찰 위주의 임상 실습의 단점을 보완하고, 실습 교육의 질적 수준을 높이기 위하여, 웹기반 시뮬레이션 실습을 포함한 혼합 실습 모델 등을 고려할 필요가 있다.

The purpose of this study is to understand the meaning of clinical practice experience, including web-based simulation practice, in the context of the corona pandemic era. As for the research method, data were collected through a focus group interview on the experience of web-based simulation practice and subsequent clinical practice and analyzed by content analysis method. The contents of the two interview groups were analyzed, and the results were divided into 2 components, 7 topic groups, and 18 topics. The first component, the clinical practice, was divided into four topic groups: 'The anxious start of practice in a pandemic situation', 'Direct experience through various cases', 'Training opportunities to prepare as a future nurse', and 'The burden of performance and limited experience'. The second component, the web-based simulation practice, was divided into three topic groups: 'Unfinished nursing practice', 'Indirect experience of clinical nursing in virtual space', and 'Requirement of an integrated practice model'. Clinical practice is a very important part of the nursing education curriculum. However, the nursing that students can perform in the field is very limited. Therefore, to supplement the shortcomings of observation-oriented clinical practice and to increase the quality of practical education, it is necessary to consider a hybrid education model including web-based simulation practice.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a system dynamics model for adolescent obesity in Korea that could be used for obesity policy analysis. Methods: On the basis of the casual loop diagram, a model was developed by converting to stock and flow diagram. The Vensim DSS 5.0 program was used in the model development. We simulated method of moments to the calibration of this model with data from The Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey 2005 to 2013. We ran the scenario simulation. Results: This model can be used to understand the current adolescent obesity rate, predict the future obesity rate, and be utilized as a tool for controlling the risk factors. The results of the model simulation match well with the data. It was identified that a proper model, able to predict obesity probability, was established. Conclusion: These results of stock and flow diagram modeling in adolescent obesity can be helpful in development of obesity by policy planners and other stakeholders to better anticipate the multiple effects of interventions in both the short and the long term. In the future we suggest the development of an expanded model based on this adolescent obesity model.

웹 3D와 가상현실 시뮬레이션 학습의 사용성 평가 비교분석

본 연구는 웹 3D와 가상현실 기반 시뮬레이션 학습의 사용성 평가와 학업성취도를 비교분석하고, 각 학습방법 간의 학습효과 차이를 통해 가상현실 콘텐츠의 차별화된 특징을 확인하는 것이 목적이다. 이를 위해 생명과학전공 대학생 75명을 모집단(웹 3D=37, VR=38)으로, DNA 분석의 과학실험을 위해 두 가지 학습방법으로 개발된 Labster사의 CSI Forensics Lab 시뮬레이션 콘텐츠를 실험처치물로 학습자의 사용성 평가와 학업성취도를 비교분석하였다. 연구결과, 태스크 수행, 탐색과 내비게이션의 사용성 평가에서는 웹 3D 시뮬레이션 학습이 유의미한 차이로 긍정적이었으나 만족도의 사용성 평가에서는 가상현실 시뮬레이션 학습이 유의미한 차이로 보다 긍정적이었다. 학업성취도에서는 웹 3D 시뮬레이션 학습 평균이 다소 높았으나 두 학습 간 유의미한 차이를 확인하지 못했다.

This study is analyzed by comparing the evaluation of usability and study achievement for simulation learning based on Web 3D and VR and it is aimed to verify the characteristics of the virtual reality through a difference in studying effect between each learning method. Therefore, this study is analyzed by comparing the evaluation of usability and study achievement for the CSI Forensics Lab simulation content that has been developed in two learning methods for scientific experiments of DNA analysis with the 75 university students of Life Science as a population(Web 3D=37, VR=38). The results of the study, in usability of user task action, exploratory and navigation, Web 3D simulation learning was positive in a significant difference, but in usability of satisfaction, VR simulation learning was positive in a significant difference. In study achievement, Web 3D simulation learning was slightly higher but did not confirm the significant differences between both of learning.

Purpose: This study aimed to explore the use of web-based virtual simulations to improve the learning flow, problem-solving ability, and academic self-efficacy of paramedicine students. Methods: This study used a pre–post comparison design with 40 pamedicine students at one university. the participants were third grade students and participated in web based virtual simulation(vSimⓇ). The difference between the pre-post was analyzed using a Paired Sample t-test with SPSS 26.0. Results: After web based virtual simulation using vSimⓇ program than before, significantly higher learning flow(t=12.74, p<.001), problem-solving process(t=5.78, p<.001), academic self-efficacy(t=2.77, p<.001), Paramedic-Care Skills Confidence(t=6.30, p<.001). Conclusion: The results indicated the positive effects of web-based virtual simulation(vSimⓇ) learning method and suggests implications for learners and instructors.

디지털 시대로의 급격한 변화와 경영환경의 복잡성 증가는 미래에 대한 불확실성을 높여왔다, 이에 기업들 은 미래를 대비하고 경쟁력을 강화하는 방법의 일환으로 교육에 대한 꾸준한 투자를 해 왔으며 경영 교육의 하나로 경영 시뮬레이션 게임이 활용되었다. 본 연구에서는 저자가 직접 개발에 참여했던 웹 기반의 에듀테인먼트 경영 시 뮬레이션 게임들(제조, 유통, 금융)을 중심으로 그 설계와 개발 방법론을 제시하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 개발 방법 론은 크게 나누어 비즈니스 시뮬레이션 게임 설계 방법론과 비즈니스 시뮬레이션 게임 개발 방법론으로 나누어 볼 수 있다. 기존의 개발 방법론 연구 모형이 존재치 않아 개발 사례를 중심으로 경험적 바탕으로 개발 모형을 제시 하 였다. 본 논문에서는 전체적인 컨텐츠 개발 방법을 제시하였고, 그에 따른 세분화된 과정의 방법론을 제시 하였다.

Web based simulation is used in various kinds of applications by providing a familiar on-line environment to use existing simulation programs. EDISON (EDucation-research Integration through Simulation On the Net) project supports web simulation service with advanced research/development contents. These advanced education-research simulation programs and contents are utilized to improve the natural sciences and engineering students' research ability and adoptability for the advanced technology e-AIRS (e-Science Aerospace Integrated Research System), the trial service of EDISON_CFD, is employed to support CFD lectures 2011. In this paper, to support stable system, we present e-AIRS performance improvement such as resource reorganization, job assignment control, stable simulation list loading, and waiting time. To show the improvement effect, we describe before and after of e-AIRS performance and users’ feedback between 1st and 2nd semester 2011.

IceBreaker : An Efficient Simulation Management Framework for Web-based Supercomputing Services

With the recent advent of microprocessors and networks, supercomputing system has been increasingly adopted as a general-purpose simulation environment for a broad spectrum of applications. In particular, the simulation environment has allowed theoretical and/or experimental research in various fields of computational science and to be free of time and spatial limits, and maximized the use of cyber-infrastructure for next generation problem solving. However, traditional supercomputing services have only been handled through a simple form of command-line based console, which leads to the critical decrement of accessibility and usability of heterogeneous computing assets. To address this problem, this paper describes the design and implementation of heterogeneous computing resources/jobs management framework, named IceBreaker, to enable any web-based supercomputing services. The proposed framework has essential functions including user authentication, data management, physical/virtual computing resource management, job management, etc. to provide efficient supercomputing service environments. The framework follows highly extensible modula design principle to manage different kinds of simulations efficiently and allow heterogeneous computing resources, for example, computing clusters, clouds, grids, to be easily integrated with our framework. We also present the detailed specification of standard web-based RESTful endpoints for 3rd-party developers to configure and build a variety of supercomputing service gateways. We hope the attempt presented in this paper will encourage more researchers to join us in designing highly efficient and cost-effective supercomputing service platform.

최근 웹 서비스(Web Service)와 웹 프로세스(Web Process)는 이기종 시스템의 통합과 웹 애플리케이션 배포를 위한 대안으로 주목받고 있으며, 이에 따라 웹 서비스의 QoS(Quality of Services)의 중요성도 증가하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 웹 서비스의 QoS 분석 방법을 제안하고, QoS 중심의 웹 서비스 조합 도구인 SimQom4W (Simulation-based QoS-aware Composer for Web Services)를 소개한다.
