안전 필수 분야의 전장 장비에서 다양한 고장요인 (고장모드)에 따른 고장 영향 분석 (FMEA, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)이 필수적이다. 이는 기기나 시스템의 잠재적인 결함들을 식별하고, 그로 인한 발생 가능한 위험을 평가하여 이를 방지하거나 관리하기 위한 개선안을 수립한다. 그러나 최근 시스템의 복잡성이 증가하고 소프트웨어의 영향이 중요해지며 전통적인 FMEA 만을 설계 단계에 적용하는 것이 어려운 상황이다. 본 논문은 모델기반설계기법을 기반으로한 Automatic FMEA 방식을 제안한다. 모델의 구조와 동작을 자동으로 분석하여 FMEA를 수행할 수 있게 하여, 설계 초기 단계에서도 고장모드 분석이 가능하게 한다. 사례연구로 차량 연료 제어 시스템을 대상으로 Automatic FMEA를 수행하였다. 본 연구는 Automatic FMEA 분석도구의 성능을 입증하는 동시에, 향후 연구 방향을 제안한다.
In the field of safety-critical systems, analyzing the effects of various failure factors (failure modes) is essential through Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). However, with the increasing importance of software in systems, applying FMEA analysis to the design phase has become challenging. This paper proposes the use of Automatic FMEA, which can automatically perform FMEA using model-based design techniques, and presents a case study of FMEA for automotive engines. A comparison is made between the model-based Automatic FMEA analysis tool and existing FMEA tools. The study aims to demonstrate the performance of the Automatic FMEA analysis tool and propose future research plans.
Adaptive Model Predictive Control for SI Engines Fuel Injection System

This paper presents a model predictive control (MPC) based on a neural network (NN) model for air/fuel ration (AFR) control of automotive engines. The novelty of the paper is that the severe nonlinearity of the engine dynamics are modelled by a NN to a high precision, and adaptation of the NN model can cope with system uncertainty and time varying effects. A single dimensional optimization algorithm is used in the paper to speed up the optimization so that it can be implemented to the engine fast dynamics. Simulations on a widely used mean value engine model (MVEM) demonstrate effectiveness of the developed method.

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is used in spark ignition (SI) engines. Fuel injection rate of an injector is affected by fuel temperature and pressure in LPG liquid injection systems for either a multi-point-injection (MPI) or a direct injection (DI) engine. Even fuel injection conditions are varied, the air-fuel ratio should be accurately controlled to reduce exhaust emissions. In this study, a correction factor fur the fuel injection rate of an injector is derived from density ratio and pressure difference ratio. A compensation method of injected fuel amount is proposed for a fuel injection control system. The experimental results for the LPG liquid injection system in a SI engine show that this system works well fur a full range of engine speed and load condition, and the air-fuel ratio is accurately controlled by the proposed correction factor.

Biodiesel fuel (BDF) can be effectively used as an alternative fuel in diesel engines. The BDF, however, may affect performance and exhaust emissions of the diesel engine because it's physical and chemical properties are different with from the diesel fuel such as viscosity, compressibility and so on. To investigate an effect of injection timing on characteristics of performance and exhaust emissions with the BDF in an IDI diesel engine, this research applied the BDF derived from soybean oil in this study. The engine was operated with six different injection timings from TDC to BTDC 12 ˚CA and six different loads at the engine speed of 1500 and 2000 rpm. In less then the BDF 20, it showed the similar trend compare to the diesel fuel. But, the best injection timing was 2˚ CA retarded compare to the diesel fuel with BDF 50.

본 연구는 우리나라 수송용 차량의 대부분을 차지하는 대형 디젤 자동차에서 배출되는 배출가 스 및 연료 소모량은 실로 막대하다. 이에 대형 디 젤기관에서 연료분사장치가 기관성능과 배출가스 에 미치는 영향을 연구하였다. 연료분사장치의 분 공 지름, 인젝션파이프 지름, 분사시기를 변수로 실험하였다. 그 결과 분공 지름을 작게 할수록 토 크, 연비와 smoke는 감소하고 NOx는 증가하였다. 노즐의 분공 지름이 작은 경우 분사율은 낮으나, 분사압력은 상당히 높아지고 분사기간도 증가함을 알 수 있다.노즐의 분공 지름만 감소시켜 분사압을 높인 경우 연비와 smoke의 배출량은 줄일 수 있 으나, NOx는 악화되었다. 분사관의 지름을 증가시 켰을 경우 토크, 연비, smoke는 우세하였으며, NOx의 배출량은 많아졌다. 분사시기를 진각시키면 토크, 연비, smoke는 개선시킬 수 있으나, NOx의 배출량이 증가되었다.

In experiments, we changed nozzle hole diameter, diameter of an injection pipe, and injection timing as variable. 1. The results show that torque, fuel consumption and smoke are reduced as nozzle hole diameter decreases, while NOx increases. When the diameter of injection pipe is reduced, torque, fuel consumption and smoke are deteriorated, but NOx is decreased. In addition, when the time for injection is advanced, torque, fuel consumption and smoke are improved, but the density of NOx is increased .

In experiments, we changed nozzle hole diameter, diameter of an injection pipe, and injection timing as variable. In this study, the effects of fuel injection pressure changed from 45 to 65 MPa on combustion and emission characteristics were investigated in a common rail direct injection (CRDI) diesel engine fueled with diesel and palm oil biodiesel blends. The engine speed and engine load were controlled at constant 1700rpm and 100Nm, respectively. The tested fuel were PBD20 (20 vol.% palm oil biodiesel blended with 80 vol.% diesel fuel). The main and pilot injection timing was fixed at 3.5°CA BTDC and 27°CA BTDC (before top dead center), respectively. The experimental results show that the combustion pressure and heat release rate increased. In addition, the indicated mean effective pressure (IMEP) and maximum combustion pressure increased with an increase of the fuel injection pressure. Hydrocarbon (HC), smoke opacity and carbon monoxide (CO) decreased, but oxides of nitrogen (NOx) emissions increased as fuel injection pressure increased.

In order to investigate the optimum condition of the autofrettage process for the diesel engine fuel injection pipe, different values of autofrettage pressure, pressure rising time, pressure holding time, and repetition of autofrettage process were applied. Autofrettage was performed by applying the hydrostatic internal pressures of 604MPa, 535MPa, 500MPa on the fuel injection pipe, corresponding to theoretical 50%, 30%, and 20% overstrain levels, respectively. The autofrettage residual stresses in the injection pipe were experimentally determined by using X-ray diffractometer. As the overstrain level increased, the magnitude of compressive residual stress at the bore increased. It was found that the rising time to reach the autofrettage pressure, holding time at the autofrettage pressure, and repeated application of the autofrettage pressure on the pipe had no significant influence on the residual stress distributions.

This paper investigates the relationship between the waveform area and fuel injection quantity. It is on developing on analysis method of waveform the effect of waveform area on fuel injection quantity of CRDI Diesel engine. The experimental methods using Pico oscilloscope and fuel injection tester are employed to measure current and voltage waveform and fuel injection quantity of solenoid injector. The one normal and two abnormal solenoid injectors are used. The experiment is carried out during no-load condition. A summary of the important results are as follows. 1) The area of the voltage and current waveform of the abnormal injector becomes larger than the that of normal injector, and the area of the current and voltage waveform is inversely proportional to the fuel injection quantity. 2) The area of the current waveform can be obtained more accurate results than that of voltage waveform. 3) It is possible to infer the fuel injection quantity by measuring the current waveform and calculating the area.

The goal of this study is to propose the effective method of investigating the injurious factors and making improved plans that prevents the workers against musculoskeletal disorders at an diesel engine manufacturing company and the same business field with similar working conditions and process. A questionnaire were adopted to analyze the symptoms of workers' musculoskeletal disorders, and an ergonomic assessment method such as RULA, OWAS were performed to find out harmful factors of workplace and working posture. Based on the result of the evaluation, to enhance the working environment, improvement of worktable, working space, tools, and outfit was suggested, and induction of mechanical system was also suggested. It can be concluded that the method and process described in this paper could be helpful for diagnosing the musculoskeletal disorders and making improvement plans to the diesel engine fuel injection system manufacturing company and the same business field with similar working conditions and process.

In this paper, 'Pico scope' was used to measure and analyze high voltage waveforms of 'Grade injector' and 'IQA injector' due to defective solenoid injector of CRDI diesel engine, and the following conclusions were obtained. In the case of the injector of 'Grade Injector' and 'IQA Injector', there was no change in the injection timing of the injector while the injector was installed. However, by controlling the operation time, It is judged that the injector control is insufficiently controlled when the number of revolutions of the engine is increased to 2000 rpm and 3000 rpm in the idling state in the idling state because the injector failure is precisely controlled in the idling state, When determining the fault injector, the waveform of the 'Grade injector' and 'IQA injector' can be detected by waveform analysis by comparing the injection control time by measuring the high voltage waveform of the injector control in idle idling state. Can be easily diagnosed and maintained. I hope this study will be handed to the mechanics to make diagnosis of CRDI injector convenient.

Our environment is faced with serious problems related to the air pollution from automobiles in these days. In particular, the exhaust emissions from the diesel engines are recognized main cause which influenced environment strong. In this study, the potential of biodiesel fuel and oxygenated fuel (ethylene glycol mono-n-butyl ether; EGBE) was investigated as an effective method of decreasing the smoke emission. The smoke emission of blending fuel (EGBE 0~20 vol-%) was reduced in comparison with diesel fuel and it was reduced approximately 64% at 2000 rpm, full load in the 20% of blending rate. But torque and brake specific energy consumption (BSEC) didn't have no large differences. But, NOx emissions from biodiesel fuel and EGBE blended fuel were increased compared with diesel fuel.
