The improvement of critical current properties of REBa2Cu3O7-x (REBCO) coated conductors by introducing artificial pinning centers (APCs) is examined with respect to the field-angle anisotropy, high-field performance and relaxation property with time. Nano-rods along the -axis introduced by PLD method and isotropic nano-particles introduced by TFA-MOD method are treated. The theoretical analysis is also shown to understand the effect of APCs quantitatively. The effects of superconducting layer thickness that influences the high-field performance and relaxation property are also discussed. It is shown that the upper critical field, which is another important factor to determine the high-field property, can be improved by introduction of APCs through electron scattering at interfaces with the superconducting matrix. The optimum critical current property can be obtained by properly designing the morphology and number density of APCs and the superconducting layer thickness.

High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) power cables are capable of transmitting bulk power without any loss compared to conventional copper cables. The major challenge in the design of such HTS cables is the high stresses (electro-thermal/electro-mechanical) developed at high voltages, high currents and cryogenic temperatures. The safe and reliable operation of HTS cables involves lots of instrumentation for monitoring, measurement, control and safe operation. In principle, a four probe method for resistance (RTD PT-100) is used for temperature measurements at various locations of HTS cable. The number of connecting leads required for this is four times that of the number of sensors. The present paper discusses a novel way of connecting 128 RTD sensors with the help of only 14 leads using a cold electronics based multiplexer board. LabVIEW 11.0 software was used for interfacing and displaying the readings of all the sensors on computer screen.

In this paper, the magnetizing characteristics of the current limiting reactor (CLR) using high-TC superconducting (HTSC) module were analyzed. Since the saturation of iron core comprising the CLR using HTSC module deteriorates its current limiting operation, the design of the CLR using HTSC module considering the magnetizing characteristics is needed. For the analysis on the magnetizing characteristics, the flux linkage and the magnetizing current of this CLR using HTSC module were derived from its electrical equivalent circuit. Through the analysis on the linkage flux versus

The thermal and electrical properties of the conductor are critical parameters for the design and optimization of the superconducting magnet. This paper presents simulation code to analyze electrical and thermal stability characteristics of the second generation (2G) high-temperature superconductor (HTS) by varying copper stabilizer thickness. Two types of commercial 2G HTS coated conductor tapes, YBCO and GdBCO were used in this study. These samples were cooled by Liquid Nitrogen (LN2) having boiling at 77.3 K and an equivalent electrical circuit model for them is choosen and analysed in details. Also, an over-current pulse test in which a current exceeding a critical current was performed. From the simulation results, the influences of the copper stabilizer thickness on the stability characteristics of these samples are presented.

As the wireless power transfer (WPT) technology based on strongly resonance coupled method realizes large power charging without any wires through the air, there are advantages compared with the wired counterparts, such as convenient, safety and fearless transmission of power. From this reason, the WPT systems have started to be applied to the wireless charging for various power applications such as train, underwater ship, electric vehicle. This study aims for the effect and characteristics of different inserted resonance coil between Tx and Rx coils for charging system of superconducting magnetic levitation (MAGLEV) train. The transfer efficiency and effect are evaluated with helix type, rectangular type copper resonance coil, and HTS resonance coil under bulb and HTS magnet load, respectively. The input power is adapted with radio frequency (RF) power of 370 kHz below 500 W.

Phase diagrams of electron- and hole-doped Sr2VO3FeAs are investigated using Co and Mn substitution at Fe site. Metallic nature survives only for Co (electron) doping, not for Mn (hole) doping. The conductivity of Sr2VO3(Fe,M)As (M=Mn,Co) is sensitive to the structural modification of FeAs microstructure rather than carrier doping. This finding implies that the FeAs layer plays a dominant role on the charge conduction, thus the SrVO3 layers should be considered as an insulating block. Also, we found that the superconductivity is rapidly suppressed by both dopants. This result is different from the conventional behavior that superconductivity is induced by doping in the most of Fe pnictides. Our finding strongly supports the uniqueness of Sr2VO3FeAs among the Fe pnictide superconductors.
