Simulation and Experimental Methods for Media Transport System: Part I, Three-Dimensional Sheet Modeling Using Relative Coordinate

This research presents a three-dimensional modeling technique for a flexible sheet. A relative coordinate formulation is used to represent the kinematics of the sheet. The three-dimensional flexible sheet is modeled by multi-rigid bodies interconnected by out-of-plane joints and plate force elements. A parent node is designated as a master body and is connected to the ground by a floating joint to cover the rigid motion of the flexible sheet in space. Since the in-plane deformation of a sheet such as a paper and a film is relatively small, compared to out-of-plane deformation, only the out-of-plane deformation is accounted for in this research. The recursive formulation has been adopted to solve the equations of motion efficiently. An example is presented to show the validity of the proposed method.

[목적] 본 연구는 동일한 영상자료를 2차원 방법과 3차원 방법으로 스윙동작을 비교분석하여 2차원 방법과 3차원방 법의 차이점과 유사점을 해석하는 과학적 토대를 마련하고 현장에서 효율적으로 적용할 수 있는 스윙분석방법의 기 초자료를 제시하는 것이다. [방법] 본 연구의 2D와 3D의 영상자료를 획득하기 위해 한국프로골프협회 회원 10명의 스윙을 적외선카메라 6대를 사용하여 초당 100Hz로 촬영 하였다. [결과] 첫째, 스윙크기의 차이는 2D방법으로 분석 하였을 때 스윙크기가 큰 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 머리의 위치변화에서 X축 방향으로의 움직임은 FT에서 스윙이 목 표반대 방향으로 2D의 분석방법이 더 큰 것으로 나타났다. Y축의 머리의 위치변화는 TB에서 아래쪽움직임이 2D의 분석방법에서 더 큰 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 몸통의 측방굴곡각도는 TB, MD, IM 및 FT이벤트에서 차이가 나타났다. [결론] 위와 같은 결과를 종합해보면 골프스윙의 정면을 분석 할 때 2D분석보다는 3D분석방법을 사용하는 것이 오류 를 줄이는데 도움이 될 것으로 사료된다.

[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to figure out differences and similarities between the swing motions of two-dimensional and three-dimensional analysis methods. The results of this study were expected to provide preliminary information for method of swing analysis that can be utilized efficiently in the field. [Method] Ten professional golfers’ swings were photographed using six 100Hz infrared cameras(Motion Master 100 Camera, visol), in order to obtain the image data of two and three dimensional methods. [Result] First, the difference in swing size was found to be large after analyzing in 2D method. Second, the movement of head on X-axis showed that the 2D method of analysis was larger in the opposite direction to the FT swing. The change in the position of the head on Y-axis presented that downward movement of TB was larger in the 2D method of analysis. Third, the trunk lateral bending showed differences in TB, MD, IM, and FT events. [Conclusion] The results of this study suggest that using 3D method of analysis rather than 2D which can help reduce errors when analyzing the frontal plane of a swing.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the internal fitness of the resin coping that was fabricated by the traditional and Digital manufacturing methods through 3-dimensional analysis. Methods: maxillary right second molar was chosen implant master model. Custom-built impression trays were manufactured. After screwing the pick-up impression coping onto the master cast, impressions were made with silicone impression. The Working model was then made with type IV stone. The coping was fabricated: SLAC group (n=8), APPC group (n=8), LAPC group (n=8) Resin coping data was measured by using a three-dimensional evaluation program. Internal fitness was calculated by RMS (Root Mean Square).It measures mean and Standard Deviation (SD). Results: Three groups are measured 47.11±(3.08)㎛ total RMS of SLAC group, 48.35(±1.55㎛) for total RMS of LAPC group, 43.45±2.09㎛ for total RMS of APPC group. Measured value is gradually increased. Followed by autopolymerized pattern resin; Stereolithography resin, Light-activated pattern resin But there were no differences stastically(P>0.321). Conclusion: Evaluation of internal fitness on Resin copings was fabricated by three–ways methods showed that no differences statistically significant and clinically acceptable results

With the rapid development of modern information technology, network information technology has become an important means of application in mathematics teaching; certain extent prompted the change of mathematics teaching content, form and concept. In this paper, the author analyzes the multimedia teaching platform application in mathematics teaching, and makes comparative experimental analysis. The result shows that the test scores is significant difference between control class and experimental class, the scores of the experimental class were significantly higher than those students in control group(t=-10.986, P=0.000<0.001). Obviously, the mathematics teaching strategy based on the three-dimensional goal can not only improve the students' cognitive performance, but also promote the students with poor chemical learning foundation.

Objectives: This study was evaluated the marginal microleakage of two different adhesive systems before and after aging with two different dye penetration techniques. Materials and Methods: Class V cavities were prepared on the buccal and lingual surfaces of 48 human molars. Clearfil SE Bond and Single Bond (self-etching and etchand-rinse systems, respectively) were applied, each to half of the prepared cavities, which were restored with composite resin. Half of the specimens in each group underwent 10,000 cycles of thermocycling. Microleakage was evaluated using two dimensional (2D) and three dimensional (3D) dye penetration techniques separately for each half of each specimen. Data were analyzed with SPSS 11.5 (SPSS Inc.), using the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests (${\alpha}=0.05$). Results: The difference between the 2D and 3D microleakage evaluation techniques was significant at the occlusal margins of Single bond groups (p = 0.002). The differences between 2D and 3D microleakage evaluation techniques were significant at both the occlusal and cervical margins of Clearfil SE Bond groups (p = 0.017 and p = 0.002, respectively). The difference between the 2D and 3D techniques was significant at the occlusal margins of non-aged groups (p = 0.003). The difference between these two techniques was significant at the occlusal margins of the aged groups (p = 0.001). The Mann-Whitney test showed significant differences between the two techniques only at the occlusal margins in all specimens. Conclusions: Under the limitations of the present study, it can be concluded that the 3D technique has the capacity to detect occlusal microleakage more precisely than the 2D technique.

Development and validation of one-dimensional and three-dimensional coupling methods based on ComspaFOAM

With the introducing of passive containment cooling systems (PCCS) in 3rd and 4th generation PWR nuclear power plants, the coupling effects between the passive containment cooling systems and containment must be clarified for the accidents analysis. Thus, a new coupling solver ComspaFOAM was developed based on OpenFOAM and previous validated solvers, ComspaFOAM-SYS1D and ComspaFOAM-TH3D. The porous medium method and boundary coupling method were proposed to realize the coupling. Without additional interface of data transfer, the simulations based on ComspaFOAM was more integrated and accurate compare to the previous simulations. Experimental data from passive containment cooling system comprehensive performance test facility were used for the validation of ComspaFOAM, including steady and unsteady cases. The results indicated that both of the coupling method could be used for coupled dynamics analysis of PCCS and containment. Between simulation results and experimental results, the differences of time-averaged parameters and the dynamic extremum parameters were within ±20 % for all the validation cases. The deviation of the oscillation period of the unsteady cases decreased from ±25 % to ±10 % when coupling methods were applied in simulations. Meanwhile, the differences between the results from different coupling methods were compared based on the analysis of temperature distribution and hydrogen risk.

Automated Quantification of Mitral Regurgitation by Three Dimensional Real Time Full Volume Color Doppler Transthoracic Echocardiography: A Validation With Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Comparison With Two Dimensional Quantitative Methods

Background: Accurate assessment of mitral regurgitation (MR) severity is crucial for clinical decision-making and optimizing patient outcomes. Recent advances in real-time three dimensional (3D) echocardiography provide the option of real-time full volume color Doppler echocardiography (FVCD) measurements. This makes it practical to quantify MR by subtracting aortic stroke volume from the volume of mitral inflow in an automated manner. Methods: Thirty-two patients with more than a moderate degree of MR assessed by transthoracic echocardiography (TTE)were consecutively enrolled during this study. MR volume was measured by 1) two dimensional (2D) Doppler TTE, using the proximal isovelocity surface area (PISA) and the volumetric quantification methods (VM). Then, 2) real time 3D-FVCD was subsequently obtained, and dedicated software was used to quantify the MR volume. MR volume was also measured using 3)phase contrast cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (PC-CMR). In each patient, all these measurements were obtained within the same day. Automated MR quantification was feasible in 30 of 32 patients. Results: The mean regurgitant volume quantified by 2D-PISA, 2D-VM, 3D-FVCD, and PC-CMR was 72.1 ± 27.7, 79.9 ±36.9, 69.9 ± 31.5, and 64.2 ± 30.7 mL, respectively (p = 0.304). There was an excellent correlation between the MR volume measured by PC-CMR and 3D-FVCD (r = 0.85, 95% CI 0.70-0.93, p < 0.001). Compared with PC-CMR, Bland-Altman analysis for 3D-FVCD showed a good agreement (2 standard deviations: 34.3 mL) than did 2D-PISA or 2D-VM (60.0 and 62.8mL, respectively). Conclusion: Automated quantification of MR with 3D-FVCD is feasible and accurate. It is a promising tool for the real-time 3D echocardiographic assessment of patients with MR.

Purpose: This study evaluated the efficacy of alveolar ridge preservation methods with and without primary wound closure and the relationship between histometric and micro-computed tomographic (CT) data. Materials and Methods: Porcine hydroxyapatite with polytetrafluoroethylene membrane was implanted into a canine extraction socket. The density of the total mineralized tissue, remaining hydroxyapatite, and new bone was analyzed by histometry and micro-CT. The statistical association between these methods was evaluated. Results: Histometry and micro-CT showed that the group which underwent alveolar preservation without primary wound closure had significantly higher new bone density than the group with primary wound closure (P<0.05). However, there was no significant association between the data from histometry and micro-CT analysis. Conclusion: These results suggest that alveolar ridge preservation without primary wound closure enhanced new bone formation more effectively than that with primary wound closure. Further investigation is needed with respect to the comparison of histometry and micro-CT analysis.

Three-dimensional accuracy of different correction methods for cast implant bars

PURPOSE. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the accuracy of three techniques for correction of cast implant bars. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Thirty cast implant bars were fabricated on a metal master model. All cast implant bars were sectioned at 5 mm from the left gold cylinder using a disk of 0.3 mm thickness, and then each group of ten specimens was corrected by gas-air torch soldering, laser welding, and additional casting technique. Three dimensional evaluation including horizontal, vertical, and twisting measurements was based on measurement and comparison of (1) gap distances of the right abutment replica-gold cylinder interface at buccal, distal, lingual side, (2) changes of bar length, and (3) axis angle changes of the right gold cylinders at the step of the post-correction measurements on the three groups with a contact and non-contact coordinate measuring machine. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and paired t-test were performed at the significance level of 5%. RESULTS. Gap distances of the cast implant bars after correction procedure showed no statistically significant difference among groups. Changes in bar length between pre-casting and post-correction measurement were statistically significance among groups. Axis angle changes of the right gold cylinders were not statistically significance among groups. CONCLUSION. There was no statistical significance among three techniques in horizontal, vertical and axial errors. But, gas-air torch soldering technique showed the most consistent and accurate trend in the correction of implant bar error. However, Laser welding technique, showed a large mean and standard deviation in vertical and twisting measurement and might be technique-sensitive method.

Comparative Analysis of Three-Dimensional Real-Time Rendering Methods

3D 프로그램을 활용한 방식의 영상 제작과정은 3D 데이터를 시각화하는 렌더링이라는 과정을 거친다. 이 과정은 제작 시간과 작업비용의 부담이 커서 제작자로서는 렌더 비용을 줄이는 것이 중요한 이슈로 대두되고 있다. 본 연구는 실시간렌더엔진인 게임엔진의 렌더링을 영상 제작에 접목해 렌더 시간을 줄여 기존의 제작 시간을 단축하는 방법을 제시하고자 한다. 본 연구의 렌더링 실험을 위해 로봇과 실내 모델링을 3D 제작 프로그램인 마야(Maya)와 게임엔진인 유니티(Unity)로 렌더링을 비교 분석했다. 분석 결과, 유니티는 실시간으로 렌더 되어 렌더 비용을 줄일 수 있고, 렌더된 이미지의 퀄러티 또한 마야에서 렌더된 이미지와 유사한 결과를 나타냈다. 이번 실험을 통해 유니티의 렌더링을 마야와 비교해 분석해 봄으로써 기존의 제작 시간을 단축하는 방법을 제시하고 사용자가 실시간렌더엔진에 접근할 수 있는 가이드를 제공한다.

Image production using three-dimensional (3D) programs undergoes a process called rendering to visualize 3D data. Because this process is time-consuming and costly, the reduction of rendering cost has emerged as an important problem that requires resolution. This work aims to overcome the limitations of the current 3D image production pipeline and propose a method for reducing the production time by adopting a game engine for real-time rendering. In the experiment conducted in this study, rendering using Maya (a 3D production program) and Unity were compared and analyzed. The analysis results indicate that Unity enables rendering in real time; consequently, the rendering cost is reduced. Moreover, the quality of the rendered image is similar to that produced by Maya. The proposed technique involves reducing the render time and providing guidance through access to a real-time rendering engine.

For our analysis we performed a three-dimensional finite element analysis of stress distribution on the plate, screw, and surrounding bone, as well as displacement onto the plate. Materials and Methods: We generated a model using synthetic skull scan data; an initital surface model was changed to a solid model using software. Modified anterior segmental osteotomy (using Park's method) was made using the program, and four different types of fixation methods were used. An anterior load of 100 N was applied on the palatal surface of two central incisors. Results: The Type 1 (L-shaped) fixation method gave stresses of 187.8 MPa at the plate, 45.8 MPa at the screw, and 15.4 MPa at the bone around the plate. The Type 2 (I-shaped) fixation method gave stresses of 186.6 MPa at the plate, 75.7 MPa at the screw, and 13.8 MPa at the bone around the plate. The Type 3 (inverted L-shaped) fixation method gave stresses of 28.6 MPa at the plate, 29.9 MPa at the screw, and 15.3 MPa at the bone around the plate. The Type 4 (I-shaped) fixation method gave stresses of 34.8 MPa at the plate, 36.9 MPa at the screw, and 14.9 MPa at the bone around the plate. The deflection of the plates for the four fixation methods was 0.014 mm, 0.022 mm, 0.017 mm, and 0.018 mm, respectively. Conclusion: The Type 3 (inverted L-shaped) fixation method offers more stability than the other fixation methods. We therefore recommend this method for the postoperative stabilization of maxillary osteotomy.

Detection of Circulating Tumor Cells Using Three-dimensional and Conditionally Reprogrammed Culture Methods

Background: Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are rare in the circulation of patients with tumors and are very difficult to detect. In this study, we cultured CTCs in a three-dimensionally reprogrammed condition using the peripheral blood of patients with cancer. Methods: We evaluated the sensitivity of a three-dimensional (3D) conditionally reprogrammed cell (CRC) culture method using SNU-484 gastric cancer cells. From April 2017 to January 2018, blood was collected from 30 patients diagnosed with colorectal or breast cancer at the Daegu Catholic University Medical Center. After lysis of the red blood cells, the blood samples were centrifuged to isolate the mononuclear cells. We used Matrigel to create 3D conditions and reprogrammed the isolated cells using a Rho-kinase inhibitor and J2 feeder cells. After 30 days of culture, the cells were collected and RNA was extracted and amplified for the expression of GAPD, hTERT, and MAGE A1-6 using real-time PCR. Results: The SNU-484 cells were cultured from three cells using the 3D CRC culture method. The cultured blood samples showed some cells or few colonies. The positive rates of hTERT and MAGE A1-6 mRNA were 50% and 30%, respectively. The positive rates of both mRNAs were 60% and 20%, respectively. MAGE and both mRNAs showed significantly increased odds ratios at the tumor, nodes, and metastases (TNM), N, and M stages in all subjects. Conclusions: As 60% of CTCs were detected in the blood of 30 patients with cancer, the 3D CRC culture method was very effective for CTC culture.

Objectives: This study evaluated a range of fixation methods to determine which is best for the postoperative stabilization of a mandibular osteotomy using three-dimensional finite element analysis of the stress distribution on the plate, screw and surrounding bone and displacement of the lower incisors. Materials and Methods: The model was generated using the synthetic skull scan data, and the surface model was changed to a solid model using software. Bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy was performed using the program, and 8 different types of fixation methods were evaluated. A vertical load of 10 N was applied to the occlusal surface of the first molar. Results: In the case of bicortical screws, von-Mises stress on the screws and screw hole and deflection of the lower central incisor were minimal in type 2 (inverted L pattern with 3 bicortical repositioning screws). In the case of plates, von-Mises stress was minimal in type 8 (fixation 5 mm above the inferior border of the mandible with 1 metal plate and 4 monocortical screws), and deflection of the lower central incisor was minimal in types 6 (fixation 5 mm below the superior border of the mandible with 1 metal plate and 4 monocortical screws) and 7 (fixation 12 mm below the superior border of the mandible with 1 metal plate and 4 monocortical screws). Conclusion: Types 2 and 6 fixation methods provide better stability than the others.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the deviation of landmarks from horizontal or midsagittal reference planes according to the methods of establishing reference planes. Materials and Methods: Computed tomography (CT) scans of 18 patients who received orthodontic and orthognathic surgical treatment were reviewed. Each CT scan was reconstructed by three methods for establishing three orthogonal reference planes (namely, the horizontal, midsagittal, and coronal reference planes). The horizontal (bilateral porions and bilateral orbitales) and midsagittal (crista galli, nasion, prechiasmatic point, opisthion, and anterior nasal spine) landmarks were identified on each CT scan. Vertical deviation of the horizontal landmarks and horizontal deviation of the midsagittal landmarks were measured. Results: The porion and orbitale, which were not involved in establishing the horizontal reference plane, were found to deviate vertically from the horizontal reference plane in the three methods. The midsagittal landmarks, which were not used for the midsagittal reference plane, deviated horizontally from the midsagittal reference plane in the three methods. Conclusion: In a three-dimensional facial analysis, the vertical and horizontal deviations of the landmarks from the horizontal and midsagittal reference planes could vary depending on the methods of establishing reference planes.

In-cylinder flows such as tumble and swirl play an important role on the engine combustion efficiencies and emission formations. The tumble flow, which is dominant in current high performance gasoline engines, is able to effect fuel consumptions and emissions under a partial load condition in addition to the volumetric efficiency under a wide open throttle condition. Therefore, it is important to optimize the tumble ratio of a gasoline engine for better fuel economy, lower emissions, and maximum volumetric efficiency. First step for optimizing a tumble ratio is to measure a tumble ratio accurately. For a tumble ratio measurement, many different methods have been developed and used such as steady flow rig, PIV, PTV, and LDV. However, it is not well known about the relations among the measured tumble ratios using different methods. The purpose of this research is to correlate the tumble ratios measured using three different methods and find out merits and demerits of each measurement method. In this research the tumble flow was measured, compared, and correlated using three different measurement methods at the same engine: steady flow rig; 2-dimensional PIV; and 3-dimensional PTV water flow rig.

Development of Methods for Protein Extraction from Three Major Korean Fermented Soy Foods for 2-Dimensional Gel and Mass Spectrometric Analyses

Three different protein extraction methods-phenol extraction, trichloroacetic acid (TCA) precipitation, and desalting/TCA precipitation-were compared to determine the optimal reproducible high resolution 2-dimensional (2-D) electrophoresis for each chungkugjang, doenjang, and kochujang samples. The soluble proteins from Chungkugjang extracted by phenol were separated with high reproducibility and resolution, and gained 1.75- to 3-fold more protein spots on 2-D gel than those from the other methods. On the contrary, the extracted proteins from doenjang and kochujang treated by desalting/TCA precipitation method showed about 1.5- to 3.3-fold more protein spots on 2-D gel. Using the established methods, the changes in the protein profiles of the fermented soy foods were monitored during the fermentation period by 2-DE. One of the major proteins in soy, $\beta$-conglycinin $\alpha$-subuint, and some proteins with unknown functions were localized on 2-D gel as the protease-resistant proteins throughout the fermentation period of doenjang. Changes in the protein profile monitored by the established methods can provide basic information on unfolding the mechanisms of the generation of biofunctional activity in the fermented soy foods.
