최근 저렴해진 디스플레이 하드웨어와 그래픽 처리 성능의 발전에 따라 대형 디스플레이나 고해상도 타일드 디스 플레이의 활용에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 하지만 기존의 타일드 디스플레이 연구에서는 주로 분산 컴퓨팅 환경에 서 고해상도 병렬 렌더링에 중점을 두고 있으며, 사용자 인터랙션은 크게 지원을 하고 있지 않다. 본 연구에서는 모바일 인터페이스를 사용하여 분산 시스템 고해상도 타일드 디스플레이에서 다수의 사용자들이 여러 개의 가상현실 게임 콘텐츠를 쉽게 조작하고 체험할 수 있는 플랫폼을 제안한다. 본 논문에서는 먼저 타일드 디스플레이나 대형 디스플레이에서의 사용자 인터랙션 관련 연구를 살펴보고, 우리가 제안하는 타일드 디스플레이 기반의 가상현실 게임 플랫폼 구조의 설계 및 구현을 설명한다. 그리고 이 플랫폼을 사용하여 개발한 가상현실 문화유산 게임에 사용자 인터랙션 서비스를 설명하고, 개선점과 추후 연구방향을 제시한다.

With the advent of less expensive display hardware and more capable graphical processing power, the public's attention to the uses of the large display or high-resolution tiled display has increased. However, the prior works on tiled display research mostly focused on distributed rendering of the tiled display, but not much considered user interaction yet. In this research, we proposed a platform that enables multiple users with mobile interfaces to interact and experience with various virtual reality game contents on a distributed, high-resolution tiled display system. This paper first review some works related to user interactions on a tiled display or large display. It then describes the details in the design and implementation of the proposed tiled display-based virtual reality game platform. It will also discuss user interaction services of virtual reality cultural heritage games built with our platform. Then it concludes with some improvements and further research directions.

Mixed Display Platform to Expand Comfortable Zone of Stereoscopic 3D Viewing

Common stereoscopic three-dimensional (3D) display has a convergence and accommodation conflict that violates the natural human cognitive process of viewing. This weakness exposes the challenge in supporting fun factors while eliminating safety problems in the 3D viewing experience. Thus, human factors have become a major research topic. In this letter, we propose a 3D stereoscopic visualization platform that can expand the sense of a 3D space by fusing organically mixed stereoscopic displays to provide a continuous feeling of 3D depth. In addition, we present pilot test results to show the possibility of the technical implementation of the proposed platform and note ongoing research issues to be addressed.

In this letter, we propose a dual autostereoscopic display platform employing a natural interaction method, which will be useful for sharing visual data with users. To provide 3D visualization of a model to users who collaborate with each other, a beamsplitter is used with a pair of autostereoscopic displays, providing a visual illusion of a floating 3D image. To interact with the virtual object, we track the user's hands with a depth camera. The gesture recognition technique we use operates without any initialization process, such as specific poses or gestures, and supports several commands to control virtual objects by gesture recognition. Experiment results show that our system performs well in visualizing 3D models in real-time and handling them under unconstrained conditions, such as complicated backgrounds or a user wearing short sleeves.

An integrated display software platform for small UAV is developed based on parallel processing technique in this paper. When the small UAV with high-performance camera and avionic modules is employed to various surveillance-related missions, it is important to reduce the operator's workload and increase the monitoring efficiency. For this purpose, it is needed to develop an efficient monitoring software enable to manipulate the image and flight data obtained during flight within the given processing time and display them simultaneously. In this paper, we set up requirements and suggest the architecture for the software platform. The integrated software platform is implemented with parallel processing scheme. Based on AR drone, we verified that the various data are concurrently displayed by the suggest software platform.

This study sets out to propose a new model of platform leadership according to theoretical grounds for the technological characteristics influencing dominant design decisions. The goal of this study is to examine if three technological characteristics identified in the competition between LCD and PDP, applicability of technology, fitness for market demand, and possibility of technological cooperation between firms, would be applicable to the emerging competition between LCD and OLED. Furthermore, this study focuses on platform leadership, which secures the ecosystem within the industry, lead the market, and make it easier for supplementary firms to innovate at the same time. According to the interview with experts, OLED would have increased possibilities of being chosen as a dominant design based on its higher applicability than LCD. OLED is also dominant in the market demand due to the rising share of the mobile display market and the decreased price of average parts. Technology with greater possibilities of cooperation between firms also has a higher chance of becoming the dominant design due to the impact of supply chains in the area of materials/parts and equipment. This study provides examples of dominant design positions gained by platform leadership from two Korean companies in their way.
