직업은 개인적 차원에서는 자아실현과 재화의 획득이지만, 사회적 측면에서는 직업을 통 한 국가ㆍ사회적 발전에의 공헌과 책무, 사회적 존경과 사회에 대한 봉사로서의 사회적 의 미가 있다. 그리고 사회구성원들의 의식과 가치관, 사회적 여론과 사회병리의 진단적 단서 도 제공해 준다. 이 같은 점에 착안한 본 연구는 수도권 중심으로 전국의 거주자 중학생 이상 1,284명을 대상으로 선택한 44개의 직업에 대한 ‘국가ㆍ사회적 공헌도, 청렴도, 존경도, 준법 성’ 등 4개 측면에서 평가토록 하였다. 그리고 평가 자료를 비교 · 분석하여 사회심리학적으 로 어떤 의미가 내포되었는지를 밝히고 직업 교육적인 시사점을 찾고자 하였다. 그 결과, 국 가 사회적 공헌도가 높은 직업은 소방관, 외교관, 환경미화원 등이었고, 반대로 가장 낮게 평가된 직업은 국회의원, 모델, 노조위원장 등으로 밝혀졌다. 청렴도가 높은 직업으로는 환 경미화원, 소방관, 농부ㆍ어부 등이었고, 청렴도가 가장 낮은 직업은 국회의원, 국무위원․장 관, 노조위원장 등이었다. 존경도가 높은 직업으로는 의사, 외교관, 소방관 등이었고, 존경 도 가 가장 낮은 직업은 국회의원, 운전기사, 노조위원장 등이다. 준법성이 가장 높은 직업은 판․검사, 소방관, 외교관 등이었고, 준법성이 가장 낮은 직업으로는 국회의원, 노조위원장, 운전기사 순이었다. 이 같은 직업의 평가 결과는 성별간, 연령간, 신분(중등학생, 대학생, 성 인)에 약간의 차이가 있으며 사회심리학적 함의와 직업 교육적 시사점 과제를 제공해준다

A job is the self-realization and the acquisition in goods in the individual dimension, but has social significances as the contribution & responsibility for nationally social development through occupation, as the social respect, and as the public service toward society in the social aspect. And, it also offers a diagnostic clue to social members' consciousness & value, socially public opinion, and social pathology. With having an idea on this point, this study made it evaluated in 4 aspects such as ‘nationally social contributional level, integrity, respect level, and law-abiding characteristic,’ on 44 jobs, which were selected targeting 1,284 people in more than middle-school student as dwellers in all parts of the country. And, the aim was to clarify which significance is involved social-psychologically, and to seek for its educational implication, by comparing and analyzing the evaluation materials. As a result, the jobs whose nationally social contribution level is high included fire-fighting man, diplomat, sanitation worker. On the contrary, the jobs, which were rated most lowly, were clarified to be lawmaker, model, labor-union chairman. As for the jobs with high integrity, a sanitation worker, fire-fighting man, farmerㆍfisherman, priest were included in the highly 3rd rank. On the other hand, the jobs whose integrity is the lowest were evaluated to be lawmaker, state minister, labor-union chairman. As for the jobs whose respect level is high, a doctor, diplomat, fire-fighting man were included in the highly 3rd rank. The jobs whose law-abiding characteristic is high included judgeㆍpublic prosecutor, fire- fighting man, diplomat. The jobs, which were evaluated to be lowest in the law-abiding characteristic, were in order of lawmaker, labor-union chairman, and driver. These evaluation results of jobs have slight difference by gender, by age, and in social standing(secondary-school student, undergraduate, adult), and offer social- psychological implication and suggestion for vocational education.
