Trust-Based Clustering in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks: Challenges and Issues

Mobile ad hoc networks are prone to various security attacks of malicious nodes and attackers. To protect the network clustering from security attacks, numerous trust-based clustering schemes have been presented in the literature. Analyzing the existing trust-based clustering solutions, the researchers illustrated their primary features and properties in this paper and mainly discussed about the trust management mechanisms which are integrated in each trust-based clustering solution. Besides it was illuminated how trust and reputation are used in the cluster formation and maintenance phases. At the end, all of their trust computation methods were compared and concluded with open research issues.

Home network service is recently installed in each home with the popularity of ubiquitous environment. There are being developed systems that efficiently controlled and handling home entry, electricity product, lamp and boiler at the remote environment as well as at home. The home network has the convenience, but because of there may be the danger to be divested of the authority handling the home network. Therefore, it is ensured the authority handling the home network. This paper proposes the scheme for differential user authentica-tion based on client in home network at a remote place. The scheme supports the convenience and strengthens the security by using the unique value of the registered client. In case of us-ing the unregistered client, it protects the authority accessing the home network via the meth-od strengthening the user authentication by using the security card.

A Multi-Stage Fingerprint Recognition Method for Payment Verification System

This thesis is on fingerprint recognition method and system, more in detail, the layered fingerprint recognition method and system to compare not only the minutiae or singular point, but also compare the images of detailed area for making prompt and accurate comparison of fingerprint. Through the experiment that applies this theory, we have confirmed that there is a great improvement of verification rate and erroneous recognition rate of other person’s fingerprint. In the world security market, the size of the biometric industry is gradually increasing, of which the fingerprint verification is recognized of its superiority and marketability in terms of relatively low cost, light weight and uneasiness to input bio-information, compared to other biometric methods. This paper proposes a method to utilize the strengths of the Multi-Stage Fingerprint Recognition Method for Fingerprint Payment Verification System. The example of the utilization of the credit card payment is the model business of fingerprint verification credit card payment applied for three months in large domestic marts, to discuss the possibility to settle the non-medium credit trading by the biometric technology and the applicability to the financial services.

Korean Government has introduced and legislated IS Audit System since 2006. IS audit is executed by auditors on the basis of standard audit checklist. As IT environment and technology are rapidly changing, it is inevitable that the improvement of the audit quality is followed by change or modification of items in standard audit checklist. To do this, this paper applied AHP and MOGSA decision making techniques and drew weights and priority of inter-items in standard audit checklist. Derived weights and priority can be used as a basis to modify and change evaluation items in standard audit checklist. The same priority has been obtained from used two methods and two decision makers’ groups. As a result, it was demonstrated that derived priority has high reliability.

A Novel Image Encryption Using Arnold Cat

Hyper-chaos has more than one positive Lyapunov exponents and it has more complex dynamical characteristics than chaos. Hence it becomes a better choice for secure image encryption schemes. In this paper, 3D Arnold cat map can be applied in image encryption, and it has more security and better effect. However, its period is fixed. The original image will be returned to itself if iterating some times. On the basis of 3D Arnold cat map, it presented an algorithm of image encryption which separates the original image to many same blocks and no period. Theoretical and experimental analyses both confirm the security and the validity of the proposed algorithm.

An Improved Overlap-Key-Sharing Key Management Scheme for Wireless Sensor Networks

Key management is the base of wireless sensor network security, key pre-distribution way is a high feasibility method in key management. The network connectivity rate, resilience against node capture and the storage consumption are important performance indicators in key pre-distribution way. However, most of the existing key pre-distribution schemes of wireless sensor network have the problems of low connectivity rate ,large storage consumption or poor resilience against node capture .On the basis of Overlap-Key-Sharing (OKS) management scheme and the group-based model of Wenliang Du and Donggang Liu et, an improved Overlap-Key-Sharing key management scheme is proposed. The management scheme has little storage consumption and good resilience against node capture. In this paper, we mainly do some analyses and evaluations on a basic random key pre-distribution scheme (E-G scheme) which is proposed by Eschenauer and Gligor et and the improved Overlap-Key-Sharing key management scheme. Result analyses show that under the same network connectivity rate, compared to E-G management scheme, the improved scheme has better resilience against node capture and the smaller storage consumption.

An Encryption Method for QR Code Image Based on ECA

In order to improve security performance of the information stored in two-dimensional Code (Quick Response Code), a two-dimensional code encryption and decryption method based on Elementary Cellular Automata state rings is proposed in this paper. Cellular Automata can simulate complex phenomenon just using simple dynamical system. In addition, Cellular Automata and cryptography have a lot of similarities such as diffusivity and integrated chaos. Based on this feature, the method uses the Cellular Automata to encrypt and decrypt QR code binary image with the following parameters: the length is 8, the boundary condition is cyclic boundary condition and {0, 1} is the state space. The experimental results show that the method proposed in this paper has some advantages, such as high speed, good effect and high security.

This paper presents a novel three-dimensional active frequency selective surfaces loading a varactor diode to achieve electrically controllable, by loading different values of paranoid voltage to control the variable capacitance diode. Simulation results show that the structure has excellent resonant characteristics in the range of 3.34GHz-1.59GHz, and has certain sensitivity for the change of the capacitance value,so it can achieve electrical controllable in the frequency band. The simulation results also show that this structure can satisfy characteristics for multiple perspectives in the whole plane, and be suitable to reduce radar cross section,when it is used on radomeofweapon systems in practical war.

This paper presents an algorithm and structure for a deduplication method which can be efficiently used for eliminating identical data between files existing different machines with high rate and performing it within rapid time. The algorithm predicts identical parts between source and destination files very fast, and then assures the identical parts and transfers only those parts of blocks that proved to be unique region. The fundamental aspect of reaching faster and high scalability determining duplicate result is that data are expressed as fixed-size block chunks which are distributed to “Index-table” by chunk’s both side boundary values. “Index-table” is a fixed sized table structure; chunk’s boundary byte values are used as their cell row and column numbers. Experiment result shows that the proposed solution enhances data deduplication performance and reduces data storage capacity extensively.

As information appliances becomes popular and activities to bring security issues using them increase, information security is drawing much attention. However, most people hardly ever take proper steps about security problems. In order to enhance security awareness, we made a research on the information security learning, proposed a novel approach to information security learning using situation-based problems, and measured the responses of learners to the problems. We proposed how to provide a customized learning and developed the corresponding information learning contents to bring tailored learning. Finally, we examined how learners feel about information security and whether the necessity of information security learning increases or not
