The purpose of this study is to analyze the job behavior and job satisfaction of commentators working at Suncheon Bay National Garden. As a research method, a survey was conducted with 145 current and former commentators during the Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo, held between October and November 2023. A total of 142 valid responses were used for analysis. The main results are as follows: In terms of general characteristics, the majority of garden commentators were women (73.2%), and most were aged 50 or older (93.6%). The highest proportion of participants had more than seven years of commentary experience (29.6%). The number of commentary sessions per day was most frequently between 5 and 10 (59.2%), and the duration of each commentary was usually between 1 and 2 hours (69.0%). The monthly income from providing commentary services was mostly under 1 million KRW (88.1%), indicating poor working conditions. In the analysis of job behavior, the most positive factor was "the pleasure of garden commentary itself” (61.3%), followed by “peer relationships” (40.9%). On the other hand, "low labor cost” (40.2%) was identified as a major negative factor. The primary methods of gathering information were through professional books (31.0%) and continuing education programs (28.2%). Suggested areas for operational improvement included a "lack of cooperation with related departments” (28.2%) and a "lack of exchange with other commentary fields such as ecology and culture” (25.4%). Job factors contributing to job satisfaction were primarily related to the job environment (e.g., knowledge utilization, aptitude utilization, opportunities for self-development, working conditions, and education and exploration) and job achievement (e.g., self-esteem, a sense of accomplishment, appreciation and praise). On the other hand, while working condition factors (e.g., activity costs, working days, recruitment period, working hours) were found to influence job satisfaction, their impact was relatively lower.

본 연구는 순천만국가정원 해설사들의 직무행태와 직무만족에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석한 실증 연구로서 2023순천만국제정원박람회 기간인 2023년 10월~11월까지 전· 현직 해설사를 대상으로 실시된 설문조사를 기반으로 하였다. 주요 결과로는 다음과 같 다. 정원해설사의 일반적 특성으로는 여성의 비율이 73.2%로 높았으며, 연령대는 50대 이상 93.6%를 차지해 대부분이 중장년층임을 알 수 있었다. 해설 경력은 7년 이상인 경 우가 29.6%로 가장 많았고, 해설 진행 횟수는 1일 5~10회(59.2%), 해설 소요 시간은 1~2시간(69.0%)로 가장 높았다. 해설 서비스를 제공하고 받는 활동비는 월 100만원 미만이 88.1%로 대부분이 상대적으로 열악한 근무환경에서 활동하고 있는 것으로 나타 났다. 직무행태 분석으로, 긍정적 요인으로는 ‘정원해설 자체의 즐거움’(61.3%)이 가장 높은 비중을 보였으며, 부정적 요인으로 ‘동료관계’(40.9%)와 ‘낮은 인건비’(40.2%) 순 으로 지적되었다. 정보수집 방법은 ‘전문서적’(31.0%)과 ‘보수교육’(28.2%) 순으로 나타났고, 운영 측면에서의 개선점은 ‘관련 부서와의 협력부족’(28.2%)과 ‘생태·문화 등 타 분야 해설사와의 교류부족’(25.4%) 순으로 나타났다. 정원해설사 직무만족도에 기여 하는 직무요인으로는 ‘직무환경요인’(지식활용, 적성활용, 자기계발, 해설사 활동여건, 교육 및 답사 등)과 ‘직무성취요인’(자부심, 성취감, 감사와 칭찬 등)이 중요한 역할을 하 는 것으로 나타났다. 반면 ‘근무조건요인’(활동비, 근무일수, 채용기간, 근무시간 등)은 직무만족도에 영향을 주기는 하나 상대적으로 그 영향력은 낮은 것으로 분석되었다.
