Study of different patterns on a local neighborhood of a texture plays an important role in characterization, and classification of the textures. The present paper proposes a method for measuring the occurrence factor of patterns on a randomly thresholded binary image. For this process eight simple patterns are chosen on a 3×3 neighborhood. The simple patterns are chosen in such a way that any complex pattern can be formed by grouping one or more of these simple patterns. The pattern occurrence factor of different binary images is also compared with the actual binary texture image. The experimental results on sixty four textures indicate good comparison of variation of occurrence in these patterns on different binary images of random threshold
A New Fast and Simple Image Encryption Algorithm Using Scan Patterns and XOR

In this paper, a new simple and fast algorithm for image encryption is proposed. It exploits the scan patterns and function XOR in three standalone steps. The decryption procedure is similar to that of the encryption but in the reversed order. We implement and test the proposed algorithm using different sample image inputs and our experimental result and security analysis indicates the robustness and advantages of the new proposed algorithm. Using this algorithm it is possible to reproduce the original image with no loss of information for the encryption and decryption process. Algorithm is fast and simple enough to be comparable to other recent approaches, and it has passed all the security requirements and it is fast and secure to be used in very broad range of industrial applications.

This paper introduces a partial discharge (PD) severity metric, S, based on the evaluation of time-sequence PD data capture and resulting Time-Sequence-Analysis Discharge (TSAD) level distributions. Basically based on an IEC60270 measurement technique, each PD event is time stamped and the discharge level noted. By evaluating the time differences between a previous and subsequent discharge, a 3D plot of time-sequence activity and discharge levels can be produced. From these parameters a measurement of severity, which takes into account dynamic or instantaneous variations in both the time of occurrence and the level of discharge, rather than using standard repetition rate techniques, can be formulated. The idea is to provide a measure of the severity of PD activity for potentially measuring the state of insulation within an item of plant. This severity measure is evaluated for a simple point-plane geometry in $SF_{6}$ as a function of gap distance and applied high voltage. The results show that as the partial discharge activity increases, the severity measure also increases. The importance of future investigations, quantifications and evaluations of the robustness, sensitivity and importance of such a severity measurement, as well as comparing it with typical repetition rate assessment techniques, and other monitoring techniques, are also very briefly discussed.

Most aphasic patients, including Broca’s aphasia patients, have morphosyntactic disorders in sentence production and sentence comprehension due to neurological injuries. The purpose of the study is to develop a sentence production test that can evaluate aphasic patients’ sentence-production abilities based on the morphosyntactic features of Korean sentences. It includes simple sentences, conjunctive sentences, and embedded sentences. This paper is the first study with regard to the simple sentences. For accurate test result, test items were chosen by rigorous prestages; 107 pilot study sentences were selected on the basis of representative sentence structures in Korean. To verify reliability and validity of the sentences, 3 Korean linguists examined them thoroughly. Picture stimuli had made by an art specialist and confirmed by 4 speech-language pathologists for their content validity. And a pilot study was carried out by 25 normal subjects. A total of 86 sentences were amended thrice based on the results of the pilot study, and the other preliminary experiment was carried out on 114 normal subjects using the amended sentences. Another round of selection of sentences was made by a Korean linguist after reviewing the test results of the normal subjects The secondary consultation with the Korean linguist resulted in the final version of the simple sentence test(40 sentences in all: active, causative, passive). The 114 subjects were grouped into two based on their age. Age group 1 was for subjects who were between 45 and 74 years and Age group 2 was for those who were 75 years or older. Further, they were grouped into two based on their education; Education group 1 comprised those with 1 to 6 years of education, while Education group 2 subjects had 7 or more years of education. Mixed-model ANOVA was carried out to examine the normal subjects' performance in sentence production. In the analysis of different types of verbs in simple sentences, the result was that the types of verbs were statistically significant factors; the subjects performed best on active verbs but their performance worsened gradually on causative verbs and passive verbs.
단순모델을 이용한 하구역 지형변화와 해수유동장 변화 수치모의

본 연구는 기초적인 연구로 낙동강 하구역을 단순 사각형 만의 형상을 가진 지형으로 설정하고 내부 지형의 변화(수심 및 사주 면적)에 따른 해수유동장을 해수유동 수심적분모델로 구축하여 계산하였다. 계산된 유속장 결과를 바탕으로 내부 지형의 대표단면에서의 단면유량플럭스를 계산하여 상호 비교함으로써 하구역내 사주의 생성 및 발달(내부 지형 용적 변화)에 따른 하구역 입구부에서의 해수용적 변화(순환)의 정도를 평가하고자 하였다.
LACBED 패턴으로부터 전자현미경 상에 대한 회절도형의 회전각을 측정하는 간단한 방법

투과식 전자현미경에서 상과 그 회절패턴은 현미경의 자기렌즈 작용에 의하여 상오 회전되어 나타난다. 이 회전각의 측정 결정은 결정 시료의 결함 관찰 분석에서 중요하다. 이 회전각 측정에 대해 잘 알려진 방법은 $MoO_3$의 분말 결정을 이용하는 것이다. 그러나 이 방법에는 측정된 각에 항상 $180^{\circ}$의 불확실성이 따른다. 따라서 이 불확실성을 제거하기 위한 또 다른 방안이 강구되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 결정시료의 LACBED 패턴을 얻는 과정을 통해 간단하게 이 회전각을 측정하는 새로운 방법을 제시한다. 이 방법은 특정 결정을 필요로 하지 않는다. 이 방법을 통해 JEM 2010 TEM에서 상(image)과 그 회절패턴의 회전각은 $180^{\circ}$로 측정되었고, 이 각은 확대 배율이나 카메라 길이의 변화에도 변하지 않음이 관찰되었다.
When electron microscope images and selected area diffraction patterns of crystalline materials are being compared, it is important to know for the rotation of the diffraction pattern with respect to the image caused by the magnetic lens in the Electron Microscope. A well-known method to determine this rotation is to use a test crystal of $MoO_3$. But this method of determination of the rotation angle contains an uncertainty of $180^{\circ}$. Thus one has to devise another way to eliminate this uncertainty. In this paper we present a new and simple method of determining this rotation without any complexity. The method involves a process of obtaining LACBED patterns of crystalline materials. For the J2010 electron microscope, the rotation is determined to be $180^{\circ}$ and this angle remains unchanged for changing of the magnification and the camera length.
