A Tablet PC-based Monitoring System for Oceanic Applications

Mobile computers can process large amounts of data at high speeds, and it is feasible and easy to implement a remote monitoring system utilizing mobile computers. Because of their portability and convenience, these computers have been employed in various research areas to develop such monitoring systems. Existing monitoring system is a bit difficult to real time monitoring the scattered offshore facilities. So this paper compensate the existing system by using mobile computers such as a tablet PC-based monitoring system. Also, the scattered offshore facilities can be monitored in real-time through the tablet PC. The developed monitoring system is a fully Internet-based monitoring platform that enables one to monitor and control remote oceanic applications at any time and any place where it is possible to access the Internet. It can be applied to many oceanic applications as well as the unmanned systems and remote monitoring systems on land.

Microfluidic System Based High Throughput Drug Screening System for Curcumin/TRAIL Combinational Chemotherapy in Human Prostate Cancer PC3 Cells

We have developed a fully automated high throughput drug screening (HTDS) system based on the microfluidic cell culture array to perform combinational chemotherapy. This system has 64 individually addressable cell culture chambers where the sequential combinatorial concentrations of two different drugs can be generated by two microfluidic diffusive mixers. Each diffusive mixer has two integrated micropumps connected to the media and the drug reservoirs respectively for generating the desired combination without the need for any extra equipment to perfuse the solution such as syringe pumps. The cell array is periodically exposed to the drug combination with the programmed LabVIEW system during a couple of days without extra handling after seeding the cells into the microfluidic device and also, this device does not require the continuous generation of solutions compared to the previous systems. Therefore, the total amount of drug being consumed per experiment is less than a few hundred micro liters in each reservoir. The utility of this system is demonstrated through investigating the viability of the prostate cancer PC3 cell line with the combinational treatments of curcumin and tumor necrosis factor-alpha related apoptosis inducing ligand (TRAIL). Our results suggest that the system can be used for screening and optimizing drug combination with a small amount of reagent for combinatorial chemotherapy against cancer cells.

With the recent progress in flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) in industry, increasing attention has been given to Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV) systems. An AGV is a self-powered unit for transporting materials between stations without needing to be controlled by an operator. Such a system has several sensors to recognize the external state, and it is designed to travel between stations automatically without external assistance. To manage each device automatically in real time it requires a distributed controller with a main computer as the host, as well as a number of micro-controllers. In this study, an AGV system with dual motor drive was constructed. A Pentium 4 personal computer was set up as the main host for the distributed control, and this communicated with other micro-controllers in the management of the motor. The speed of each motor was also controlled by a micro-controller.

Recently, the in-line vision inspection has become the subject of growing research area in the visual control systems and robotic intelligent fields that are required exact three-dimensional pose. The objective of this article is to study the pc based in line visual inspection with the hand-eye structure. This paper suggests three dimensional structured light measuring principle and design method of laser sensor header. The hand-eye laser sensor have been studied for a long time. However, it is very difficult to perform kinematical analysis between laser sensor and robot because the complicated mathematical process are needed for the real environments. In this problem, this paper will propose auto-calibration concept. The detail process of this methodology will be described. A new thinning algorithm and constrained hough transform method is also explained in this paper. Consequently, the developed in-line inspection module demonstrate the successful operation with hole, gap, width or V edge.

The development process of the polishing system for the aspherical lens mold for opto-electronics industry is described. The system uses the method that polishing tool is scanned on the surface under PC-NC control for the aspherical lens mold. The two axes interpolation of the minimum translation mechanism is applied to give uniform working condition by motion analysis. An aspherical surface is divided into multiple sections and each dwell time is calculated from the polishing rate model based on the Preston equation. As result of form error compensation experiment, initial form error is decreased about 25% while an average value of surface roughness is also reduced successfully from 180nm to 19nm.

인터넷을 이용한 원격교육이 매우 빠르게 확산됨에 따라 원격교육을 수강하는 학습자에 대한 본인 확인과 실제 학습 여부를 확인하는 것에 대한 어려움도 점점 더 커지고 있다. 원격교육에서는 교수자와 학습자가 상호 대면하지 않아도 수업이 이루어지므로 본인 출석 여부를 시스템적으로 확인해 주어야 한다. 종래의 확인 방법으로는 로그인 체크, SMS 본인 인증, 돌발퀴즈 등의 방법이 있다. 그러나 학습 시간 전반에 걸쳐 학습자 본인이 잘 참여하고 있는지를 확인하기에는 기술적인 한계가 적지 않다. 이에 본 연구에서는 실제 학습자가 학습시간 전반에 걸쳐 잘 참여하고 있는지를 PC 카메라의 이미지 촬영 기반으로 확인할 수 있는 시스템을 설계 및 구현하고자 한다. 이 시스템은 원격교육, 원격평가 등에 있어 학습자의 실제 참여 여부를 판단할 수 있게 함으로써 원격교육 신뢰성을 더욱 높일 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

A distance learning is diffusing rapidly in society. It is more difficult to confirm a learner's identity and learning processing in a distance learning. Distance learning has a checking attendance system because a teacher and student do not meet face to face. There are some checking attendance systems such as login check, SMS authenticating system, unexpected quiz, and so on. However, existing checking attendance system has some problems to check learner's attendance in a whole lesson. Therefore, this study designed and developed learner's attendance system based on PC camera's shot of certification in a whole lesson. This attendance checking system can judge real attendance of learners in a distance learning and distance evaluation. The system is expected to make trust of a distance learning higher.

사용자의 행동을 기반으로 지속적 인증을 수행 하는 생체인식 기술은 디바이스 종류와 입력장치, 센서의 종류에 따 라 다양한 연구가 진행되어왔다. 모바일 디바이스에서의 지속적 인증은 다양한 센서를 이용하여 사용자 행동을 인식 하고 인증하는 방식으로 연구되어 왔다. 이에 반해, 센서가 다양하지 않은 PC 기반의 지속적 인증은 키보드나 마우 스의 입력 패턴에서 피처를 추출하여 분석하는 방식으로 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 PC에서 qwerty 키 보드로 입력하는 사용자의 손가락 별로 피처를 추출하여 지속적 인증에 사용한다. 키보드는 일반적으로 각각의 키를 누르는 양손의 손가락들이 할당되어 있다. 이에, 1개의 키를 누를 때 발생하는 key hold(key1 Down–key 1 Up) latency와 손가락과 손가락 사이의 상호작용에 의해 발생하는 key press(key1 Down-key2 Down latency) latency, key interval(key1 UP–key2 Down latency) latency를 피처로 추출하여 지속적 인증의 정확도를 높였다. 지속적 인증 모델은 SVDD, Decision Tree, CNN을 이용했다. 실험데이터는 각각의 실험자들이 랜덤하 게 나타나는 문장을 입력하는 행위를 통해 수집하고 데이터베이스에 저장했다. 마지막으로 저장된 데이터에서 일반 피처를 추출해 학습한 지속적 인증 모델과 손가락 기반 피처를 추출해 학습한 지속적 인증 모델을 비교하는 실험을 진행했고, 각 모델의 분류 정확도(ACC), ROC Curve와 FRR, FAR의 임계치인 EER를 산출했다. 실험결과 손가 락 기반 피처를 학습한 모델이 일반 피처만을 학습한 모델보다 정확도가 더 높게 나타난 것으로 확인되었다.

Continuous authentication using biometric technology based on user behavior has been studied using various types of devices, input devices, and sensors. Continuous authentication on mobile devices has been studied by recognizing and authenticating user behavior using various sensors. In contrast, continuous authentication on PC-based devices with limited sensors has been studied by extracting and analyzing features from keyboard and mouse input patterns. In this paper, features are extracted based on finger-specific input patterns of users typing on a qwerty keyboard on a PC. The keyboard is typically allocated to the fingers of both hands when pressing each key. Therefore, key hold (key1 Down-key1 Up) latency, key press (key1 Down-key2 Down latency) latency caused by interaction between fingers, and key interval (key1 UP-key2 Down latency) latency are extracted as characteristics to improve the accuracy of continuous authentication. The continuous authentication model uses SVDD, Decision Tree, and CNN, and raw data is collected by conducting experiments where users input random sentences. The verification of the continuous authentication model was conducted by comparing the classification accuracy (ACC), EER which is the threshold of ROC curve and FRR, FAR, and the result showed that using finger-specific input characteristics of the user yielded higher accuracy than the existing research that utilized only general key input characteristics.

Recently, education game contents with advanced mobile and Web technology have been widely researched. However, considering of interaction involved for children, it is necessary user friendly interfaces and interesting interactions. In addition, it is important to design to encourage the user’s learning motivation as a way to the effect of educational game contents. Therefore, in this study, we designed and implemented the educational game contents system using inter-working between KINECT camera, PC, and android platform based humanoid robot. The designed system consisted of KINECT system for capturing hand gestures, game contents system for playing games, and android humanoid robot system for interacting with users. This system can lead to interests and willingness of users through handy interaction such as hand gestures and interesting quiz game contents. To improve effectiveness and userability, we plant to advance designed educational game contents system that can be operated on a smart TV system including a built-in camera as a further study.

공공기관, 대학 전산실, 도서관 및 무인민원발급기 등 공용 PC 환경에서는 사용자가 문서를 열람하거나 출력한 후 PDF 파일을 삭제하지 않아 개인정보가 노출되는 사례가 지속적으로 발생하고 있다. 기존 데이터 유출 방지(DLP) 기술은 이메일 전송, USB 저장매체 복사 및 클라우드 업로드 등 외부 반출 과정의 정보 유출 방지에 초점을 두고 있어 시스템 내부에 남겨진 잔존 파일에 의한 개인정보 노출 문제에는 효과적으로 대응하지 못한다. 본 연구에서는 공용 PC 환경에서 잔존 PDF 파일로 인한 개인정보 노출을 방지하기 위한 경량 개인정보 사전 탐지 시스템을 제안한다. 제안 시스템은 PDF 문서로부터 텍스트를 추출한 후 정규표현식 기반 탐지 기법을 적용하여 전화번호, 이메일, 주민등록번호 및 학번 등의 개인정보를 실시간으로 분석한다. 또한 향후 자동 암호화 및 접근통제 기능과 연계 가능한 확장형 구조를 적용하였다. 100개의 PDF 문서를 대상으로 성능을 평가한 결과, Precision 0.96, Recall 0.93, F1-score 0.94를 기록하였으며 평균 처리시간은 12ms/PDF로 나타났다. 또한 BERT 기반 탐지 모델과 비교하여 우수한 처리 속도와 자원 효율성을 확인하였다. 연구 결과는 공용 PC 환경의 개인정보 보호 수준 향상을 위한 실용적인 경량 보안 기술로 활용될 수 있음을 보여준다.

Shared PC environments, such as public service kiosks, university computer labs, libraries, and self-service certificate issuance systems, frequently expose users to privacy risks caused by residual PDF files left on systems after viewing or printing documents. Conventional Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions primarily focus on preventing data leakage during external transmission processes, including email transfers, USB storage copying, and cloud uploads, and thus have limitations in addressing privacy exposure caused by residual files within systems. This study proposes a lightweight PDF-based personal information pre-detection system to prevent privacy exposure from residual files in shared PC environments. The proposed system extracts text from PDF documents and employs regular expression–based detection techniques to identify sensitive information, including phone numbers, email addresses, resident registration numbers, and student identification numbers, in real time. Furthermore, the system is designed with an extensible architecture that can be integrated with automatic encryption and access control mechanisms. Experimental evaluations using 100 PDF documents achieved a Precision of 0.96, Recall of 0.93, and F1-score of 0.94, with an average processing time of 12 ms per PDF document. Comparative experiments with a BERT-based detection model demonstrated superior processing speed and resource efficiency of the proposed approach. The results indicate that the proposed system can serve as a practical and lightweight security solution for enhancing privacy protection in shared computing environments.

Multiple Bad Data Processing using Binary PSO Algorithm Based on PC Cluster System

In power systems operation, state estimation takes an important role in security control. For the state estimation problem, the weighted least squares (WLS) method and the fast decoupled method have been widely used at present. Especially when bad data are mutually interacting, the detecting of multiple bad data may be difficult to handle, since the normalized or weighted residuals may become faulty. Then the problem of detecting bad data is considered as a combinatorial decision procedure. In this paper, the binary Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is used for the detecting of multiple bad data in the power system state estimation. The PSO, like other meta-heuristic algorithms, can handle constrains that would be troublesome in classical mathematical approach. However, population based algorithms require higher computing time to find optimal point. This shortcoming is overcome by a parallel processing of PSO algorithm. The parallel PSO algorithm is implemented on a PC cluster system with 8 personal computers. The proposed approach has been tested on the IEEE-14 and 118 bus systems. The results showed that the binary PSO based procedures behave satisfactorily in the detecting multiple bad data and computing time of parallelized PSO algorithm can be reduced without losing the quality of solution.

The core processor of this system is S3C44B0X, the kernel of which is ARMTTDMI. External extension Flash, SDRAM and an Ethernet interface are used to provide remote PC Internet access. Self-made Humidity & wind speed sensor is used to collect environmental data, with stepper motors and relays as the executing agency to control the plant object. With regard to software, vectoring procedure boot loader and operating system uClinux are transplanted to development platform. Meanwhile, an embedded web server is built by way of Boa and CGI to uclinux. Website programs based on embedded web server are written to receive user requests, return to the page and call the relevant subprograms (collection and control) and ultimately meet intelligent home system requirements for remote network control.

LED는 빛을 내는 반도체 이다. 최근 친환경적 산업이 발전함에 따라 LED조명의 연구가 활발하게 진행되어가고 있다. 특히 LED를 이용한 통신기법인 LED 통신에 대한 활발한 연구가 진행 중이다. 본 논문에서는 LED 통신을 이용한 PC-PC 전송시스템을 구현하였다. LED를 이용한 송신부 회로구성 및 PD와 OP-Amp를 이용한 수신부 회로를 구성하였다. 실험은 다음처럼 진행되었다. 송·수신부 양 끝단에 컴퓨터를 연결한 다음, 텍스트 전송프로그램을 이용하여 텍스트를 전송하였다. 이때 보드 레이트(baud rate), LED 색깔, 전송거리 등 다양한 변화를 주면서 실험을 진행하였다.

LED is just a semiconductor which can produce light. Currently, there are active research works on LED lighting technologies according to the growth of energy-saving environmental industry. Especially, LED communication is one of the active research works in these fields. In this paper, we design a LED communication-based PC-PC transmission system. A transmission circuit system(transmitter) using LED and a receiving circuit system(receiver) using PD(photo detector) and Op-amp are designed, respectively. The experiments for the designed system are performed as follows. One computer is connected at the end of transmitter and receiver, respectively, and text files are transmitted by using text transmission programming. In this experiment, we test the performance with various baud rates, LED colors, transmission ranges.

The key advantages of reduced inspection labor, highly consistent inspection and yield improvement are now realizable.

최근 응용과학 분야를 연구하는데 많은 컴퓨팅 자원을 필요로 하고 있다. 예로 미생물학 분야에서 분자 모사를 이용한 바이오-나노 연구는 대규모 컴퓨팅 자원을 필요로 한다. 그와 함께 대규모 컴퓨팅 환경을 구축하기 위해서는 많은 자본이 필요하지만, 대부분의 대학에서는 예산 부족 및 관리 능력 부족으로 인해 이러한 장비를 보유하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 상황에서 컴퓨팅 자원을 제공하기 위해 기존의 대학 실습실의 컴퓨터들을 이용해서 대규모 병렬-분산 처리 시스템을 구현 모델로 제시하고 실제 직접 구현한 결과를 보여준다. 구현 결과로는 병렬-분산 처리 시스템인 PLinda 시스템과 애플리케이션인 Raytracing 병렬처리 프로그램을 보여 준다.

The main principle of radiation therapy is to deliver optimum dose to tumor to increase tumor cure probability while minimizing dose to critical normal structure to reduce complications. RTP system is required for proper dose plan in radiation therapy treatment. The main goal of this research is to develop dose model for photon, electron, and brachytherapy, and to display dose distribution on patient images with optimum process. The main items developed in this research includes: (l) user requirements and quality control; analysis of user requirement in RTP, networking between RTP and relevant equipment, quality control using phantom for clinical application (2) dose model in RTP; photon, electron, brachytherapy, modifying dose model (3) image processing and 3D visualization; 2D image processing, auto contouring, image reconstruction, 3D visualization (4) object modeling and graphic user interface; development of total software structure, step-by-step planning procedure, window design and user-interface. Our final product show strong capability for routine and advance RTP planning.
