This paper aims to estimate regional economic impacts of Gaesung Industrial Estate by using multiregional input-output model. For doing so, this study divides regional economic impacts into three types of effects: 1) exports from South Korea to Gaesung, 2) household consumption due to wage and salary of South Korean workers working in Gaesung, and 3) investment due to corporate profit of South Korean firms operating in Gaesung. The findings from the analysis can be summarized as follows: First, about 90% of total economic impacts of Gaesung Industrial Estate is generated by exports to Gaesung, which include construction and production facilities, and intermediate goods for production in Gaesung. Second, about 2/3 of total economic impacts generated in South Korea takes place in the Seoul Metropolitan Area (SMA), indicating the SMA is the biggest economic beneficiary of Gaesung Project. This finding suggests that the SMA will play a crucial role in the development of South-West region of North Korea including Gaesung and Pyungyang after reunification, and policy-makers need to pay attention to the development of northern part of the SMA, which will be an outpost of economic development of North Korea

The purposes of this study are twofold: to estimate the economic ripple effects on marine leisure activities in Busan and outside Busan regions and to get recommendation for further study to get more accurate result about economic ripple effect. To achieve them, multiregional input-output model was applied. The author find that overall production inducing effect of 1,012 billion won was generated in total with value added inducing effect of 554 billion won. In employment inducing effect, 13,066 jobs are created nationwide. Among them 10,105 jobs are founded to be generated in Busan region occupying 77.34% while job of 22.66% was induced in other regions. The study shows that economic ripple effect of marine leisure activities influences Busan region as well as other regions in economy.

농촌진흥청(Rural Development Administration)은 농촌경제의 활성화와농외소득 향상을 위하여 2007년부터 농가맛집(Farm Restaurants) 시범사업을실시하여 왔다. 이에 본 연구는 2007년부터 2011년까지 선정된 농가맛집의 운영효과를 파악하기 위하여 전국 농가맛집의 경제적 파급효과(Economic Impact)를분석하였다. 전국 74개소 농가맛집 중 53개소에 대한 사업화 투입비용과 방문객소비지출 설문조사를 토대로 다지역산업연관모델(Multiregional Input-output Model)을 실시하여 승수를 도출하였다. 전국 농가맛집의 지역 경제적 파급효과분석결과 생산유발효과(output impact)는 45,768백만 원, 부가가치유발효과 (value-added impact)는 19,832백만 원, 고용유발효과(employment impact)는 660명으로 분석되었다. 지역별로는 전남 지역이 생산유발효과 7,340백만 원, 부가가치유발효과 2,957백만 원, 고용유발효과 123명으로 가장 높게 분석되었다.

Rural Development Administration has implemented pilot projects of “Farm Restaurants” to revitalize rural economy and increase nonfarm income since 2007. In this context, this study analyzed the economic impact of the rural restaurants nationwide in order to examine the operational effects of the rural restaurants selected from 2007 to 2011. Based on questionnaires of visitors’ consumption expenditure and input costs for the projects for 53 among 74 rural restaurants nationwide, multiregional input-output model was analyzed to draw the multiplier. An analysis of regional economic effects of the rural restaurants nationwide indicates that the output impact is 45,768 million won, the value-added impact is 19,832 million won, and the employment impact is involved with 660 people.
