독도가 암초로 된 작은 섬임에도 불구하고 독도와 관련된 고지도와 고문헌이 많이 존재하는 편이 다. 이들 모든 고지도와 고문헌은 한결같이 독도가 한국영토임을 증명하고 있다. 그런데 일본은 이러한 역사적 증거를 무시하고 1905년 ‘죽도’라는 이름으로 주인 없는 섬을 일본영토에 편입했기 때문에 국제법적으로 신영토를 취득했다고 주장한 다. 일본은 자신들의 조치가 정당함을 내세우기 위해서는 한국영토로 해석되는 수많은 역사적 증거를 부정해야한다. 그 래서 시마네현이 설치한 죽도문제연구회가 이런 작업에 앞장서고 있다. 조선시대에 존재했던 우산도는 지금의 독도를 말한다. 그런데 연구회 논리적인 논증 없이 우산도는 독도가 아니라고 강변한다. 또한 메이지정부는 ‘죽도’(울릉도)와 더 불어 ‘송도’(독도)가 일본영토가 아님을 명확히 했다. 그런데 연구회는 죽도도 송도도 모두 울릉도를 말한다고 주장한 다. 대한제국의 ‘칙령41호’ 는 울도군을 설치하여 그 관할범위를 ‘울릉전도, 죽도, 석도’로 정했다. 여기서 석도는 독도임에 분 명하다. 그런데 연구회는 논리적인 논증 없이 ‘석도’는 독도가 아니고 ‘관음도’라고 주장한다. 이처럼 일본이 독도가 한국영 토인 것을 부정하고 일본영토임을 주장해야했다. 그러기 위해서는 설득력 있는 주장이 있을 수 없다. 연구회는 제대로 된 논증 없이 무조건적으 로 ‘한국영토론’을 부정하는 방식으로 사료해석을 조작하여 일본영토론을 만들어내고 있다.

The Study group is claiming that Usando is Dokdo without the right logical interpretation. The Meiji government also clearly said ‘Takeshima’(Ulleungdo), and ‘Matsushima’(Dokdo) was not the territory of Japan. But Takeshima Issue Study Group is insisting that all of Matsushima and Takeshima are Ulleungdo. ‘Empire of the Korean Emperor command’ No. 41 installed Ulleungun with Ulleung Jeondo, Jukdo, Seokdo. Dokdo. It is clear that Seokdo’is Dokdo. But The Study Group argue Seokdo is not Dokdo, Seokdo is Kaneomdo thus they deny that Dokdo is Korean territory, Japan had argued that Dokdo is Japanese territory. To do this, there can be no convincing argument to the Takeshima Issue Study Group of Japan. The Takeshima Issue Study Group create Japanese territory theory unconditionally without proper demonstration to deny Korea territory theory how to interpretation of the negative feed in a way.
