The VLC (visible light communication) system is communication technology using visible rays (RGB) that come out in LED device. It is energy curtailment effect and possible in ubiquitous network service applications. Also, VLC system has the above advantage about that the communication throughout the whole room is enabled by high power lighting and lighting equipment with white colored LED which are easy to install and have good outward appearance. However, the signal detection performance for the receiver near the network of transmitter boundary is severely degraded and the transmission efficiency decreased due to the influence of the interference signal from the adjacent networks. In this paper, we propose an interference mitigation method with optical relay and optical beamforming scheme in VLC systems, and evaluate the reception performance. For the system BER, the proposed system demonstrates the performance enhancement compared to the not using the optical relay and optical beamforming scheme, and SNR performance gain and higher channel capacity is achieved.

The primary goal of this study is to develop a simulation platform that ensures a synergy between WiMAX and WiFi at the PHY and MAC layers, manages the available resources efficiently, mitigates electromagnetic interference (EMI), and enhances the overall performance of heterogeneous networks. To achieve this synergy, the OFDMA physical layer protocol is implemented and combined with radio resource exploitation strategies and judicious power allocation to users. The COOPERATIVE subcarrier allocation strategy outperforms the RANDOM strategy in terms of mean capacity and EMI mitigation, because it efficiently manages radio resources and inherently combats CCI (hence, EMI is mitigated). Results also show that in real scenarios (low SINR WiFi ), the synergy between WiMAX and WiFi leads to a high mean capacity (and in some cases, a 15-fold increase). In terms of power levels, the dissipation by a user corresponds to less than 23% of the total available power (1 W).

Improving the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver robustness in a radio interfered environment has been always one of the main concerns for the GNSS community. Due to the weakness of the signal impinging the GNSS receiver antenna, GNSS receiver performance can be seriously threatened by the presence of stronger interfering signals. In these scenarios, classical interference countermeasures may fail due to the fact that interference detection and removal process causes also a non-negligible degradation of the received GNSS signal. This paper introduces an innovative interference detection and mitigation technique against the well-known jamming threat. This technique is based on the use of the Karhunen-Loeve Transform (KLT) which allows for the representation of the received interfered signals in a transformed domain where interference components can be better identified, isolated and removed, avoiding significant degradation of the useful GNSS signal.

This paper presents field experiment results that illustrate the impact of cross-link interference on the cell search procedure in a 5G time division duplex system. We initially show how cross-link interference affects to the cell search procedure from an analytic aspect. An example of an experimental result provided in this paper shows how the user equipment wrongly estimates the symbol timing offset due to cross-link interference. Furthermore, we propose a modified cell search algorithm which is robust against the strong influence of cross-link interference. The proposed modification efficiently suppresses the effects of cross-link interference by applying selective energy normalization to the correlation process. The experimental results show that the modified algorithm can accurately estimate the symbol timing offset with a negligible increment in computation time.

The Proximity Service, which is one of the most popular network capacity improvement methods, uses the frequency reuse in order to increase the frequency efficiency. As a result, inter-cell interference between cellular and proximity service users occurs at a cell edge. In this paper, we proposed a mitigation scheme for inter-cell interference, where we suggested a new function of and eNB with ProSe function exchanging information about ProSe parameters and ProSe user equipment with neighboring cells via the X2 interface. As the first step, the resource which did not cause the inter-cell interference problem were pre-allocated through the frequency sensing in the ProSe direct discovery. As the next step, the inter-cell interference problem was solved by reallocating appropriate resources based on the ProSe application code, the ProSe application QoS, the ProSe application ID and validity timer in ProSe direct communication.

Interference mitigation between IMT-Advanced and Fixed Satellite Services (FSS) is presented in this article. Toward this goal, an analytical model has been developed based on the deterministic analysis of the propagation model. The IMT-Advanced system parameters have been represented by Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) 802.16e. The use of VSAT unit and different shielding materials is considered. The testing is performed in the Anechoic Chamber as well as outdoor, and deployment is designed to fulfill FSS signal receiving criteria. A strong positive correlation was found between path loss parameters various terrains for different deployment areas. The Antenna discrimination has been discussed alongside the shielding absorption coefficients of the suggested materials. Then the antenna discrimination proposal is demonstrated with a high degree of capability to reduce the harmful power interference from IMT-Advanced base station towards the FSS receiver.

Dense network deployment is an important approach to meet the requirements of the future mobile communications. LTE-Advanced Heterogeneous Networks (HetNets) has been introduced by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) to increase cell throughput, offload data from macro-cell and improve indoor coverage. However, it also brings serious inter-cell interference with the co-channel deployment. Although the Almost Blank Subframes (ABS) scheme, one solution of Enhanced Inter-Cell Interference Coordination (eICIC), mitigates the interference, it results in undesirable fairness, huge difference of users’ throughput in the system and even the incapability of communication. To address this problem, we introduce Dynamic Subframes Assignment Guaranteeing Fairness (DSAGF), in which the ABS pattern is set to mitigate inter-cell interference while guaranteeing fairness. As demonstrated in the simulation results, DSAGF significant decline in outage ratios of user equipments, narrowing difference of users’ throughput, and improvement for fairness with inter-cell interference mitigation.

In Heterogeneous Network (HetNet), the small base station such as femtocells are deployed in indoor and multiple business complexes in order to extend the coverage and capacity. The deployment of co-channel (i.e. shared channel) for femtocells along with macrocell induces the severe interference issues. This is because of effects on SINR and thereby capacity become deteriorated. Therefore, this paper investigates the interference mitigation techniques and come out with a proposal to improve the Signal to Interference Noise Ratio (SINR) performance as well as total capacity in Heterogeneous Network (HetNet). The simulation results show that the achieved capacity is maximized than the existing technique.

To make normal operation of S-Band PSR(Primary Surveillance Radar) which are in operation near distance, Minimizing the mutual frequency interference was studied in this paper. First, the phenomenon of radar receiver was analyzed when the interference between PSR was occurred. And next, the proper S-Band Bandpass filter(BPF) was chosen to deal with the interference. And inhibition performance of BPF was verified by comparative analysis of Radar’s RF reception characteristic before and after of BPF application. There is 6.4~7.7 dB passband attenuation when BPF was applied at Radar receiver. So the PSR probability of detection were compared and analyzed to check the radar detection performance was deteriorated or not, And this result proved the usefulness of this study.

This article considers a model of cooperative spectrum sharing between primary and secondary systems in which transmission occurs in two phases. In this scheme, we introduce that a single secondary transmitter, ST, employs a quadrature-phase-based signal to present the secondary message, while the primary message is presented by an in-phase-based signal. This allows simultaneous spectrum sharing without mutual interference. Therefore, an interference constraint is not necessary to protect primary operating performance from being degraded by the secondary user operations. Theoretical analysis and Simulations are then provided to confirm the superiority of the proposed scheme over the the current conventional methods.

In this paper, we propose an efficient and robust interference mitigation technique based on a nullsteering multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) spatial division multiple access (SDMA) scheme for frequency sharing between IMT-advanced and fixed satellite service (FSS) in the 3400-4200 and 4500-4800 MHz bands. In the proposed scheme, the pre-existing precoding matrix for SDMA unitary precoded (UPC) MIMO proposed by the authors is modified to construct nulls in the spatial spectrum corresponding to the direction angles of the victim FSS earth station (ES). Furthermore, a numerical formula to calculate the power of the interference signal received at the FSS ES when IMT-Advanced base stations (BS) are operated with the interference mitigation technique is presented. This formula can be derived in closed form and is simply implemented with the help of simulation, resulting in significantly reduced time to obtain the solution. Finally, the frequency sharing results are analyzed in the co-channel and adjacent channel with respect to minimum separation distance and direction of FSS earth station (DOE). Simulation results indicate that the proposed mitigation scheme is highly efficient in terms of reducing the separation distance as well as robust against DOE estimation errors.

For mobile wireless systems with full frequency reuse, co-channel interference near the cell coverage boundaries has a significant impact on the signal reception performance. This paper addresses an approach to efficiently mitigate the effect of downlink co-channel interference when multi-antenna terminals are used in cellular environments, by proposing a signal detection strategy combined with a system-level coordination for dynamic frequency reuse. We demonstrate the utilization of multi-antennas to perform spatial demultiplexing of both the desired signal and interfering signals from adjacent cells results in significant improvement of spectral efficiency compared to the maximal ratio combining (MRC) performance, especially when an appropriate frequency reuse based on the traffic loading condition is coordinated among cells. Both analytic expressions for the capacity and experimental results using the adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) are used to confirm the performance gain. The robustness of the proposed scheme against varying operational conditions such as the channel estimation error and shadowing effects are also verified by simulation results.

In this paper, we apply a discrete wavelet packet transform (DWPT) to reduce the influence of interference in global positioning system (GPS) signals and compare the interference mitigation performance of various wavelets. By applying DWPT to the received signal, we can gradually divide the received signal band into low-pass and high-pass bands. After calculating the average power for the separate bands, we can determine whether there is interference by comparing the value with the given threshold. For a band that includes interference, we can reconstruct the whole band signal using inverse DWPT (IDWPT) after applying a nulling method that sets all of the wavelet coefficients to 0. The reconstructed signals are correlated with the pseudorandom noise (PRN) codes to acquire GPS signals. The performance evaluation is based on the number of satellite signals whose peak ratio (defined as the ratio of the first and second correlation peak values in the acquisition stage) exceeds the threshold. In this paper, we compare and evaluate the performance of 6 wavelets including Haar, Daubechies, Symlets, Coiflets, Biorthogonal Splines, and Discrete Meyer.

This paper presents the impacts of Ultra-wideband(UWB) applied in the communication applications using frequency band from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz on Broadband Wireless Access(BWA) based on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) using frequency band of 3.5 GHz. It proposes low duty cycle(LDC) for enabling UWB to mitigate strong interference to BWA. The effects of interference mitigation are evaluated and analyzed in the environment of UWB coexistence with BWA. UWB with LDC scheme will be given to bring higher transmit power level corresponding to Federal Communications Commission(FCC) provisional limit for enabling UWB operation at 3.5 GHz bands.

Ultra-dense small cell networks (UD-SCNs) have been identified as a promising scheme for next-generation wireless networks capable of meeting the ever-increasing demand for higher transmission rates and better quality of service. However, UD-SCNs will inevitably suffer from severe interference among the small cell base stations, which will lower their spectral efficiency. In this paper, we propose a software-defined networking (SDN)-based hierarchical agglomerative clustering (SDN-HAC) framework, which leverages SDN to centrally control all sub-channels in the network, and decides on cluster merging using a similarity criterion based on a suitability function. We evaluate the proposed algorithm through simulation. The obtained results show that the proposed algorithm performs well and improves system payoff by 18.19% and 436.34% when compared with the traditional network architecture algorithms and non-cooperative scenarios, respectively.

In this paper, we propose a low complexity multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) detection algorithm with adaptive interference mitigation in downlink multiuser MIMO (DL MU-MIMO) systems with quantization error of the channel state information (CSI) feedback. In DL MU-MIMO systems using the imperfect precoding matrix caused by quantization error of the CSI feedback, the station receives the desired signal as well as the residual interference signal. Therefore, a complexMIMO detection algorithm with interference mitigation is required for mitigating the residual interference. To reduce the computational complexity, we propose a MIMO detection algorithm with adaptive interference mitigation. The proposed algorithm adaptively mitigates the residual interference by using the maximum likelihood detection (MLD) error criterion (MEC). We derive a theoretical MEC by using the MLD error condition and a practical MEC by approximating the theoretical MEC. In conclusion, the proposed algorithm adaptively performs interference mitigation when satisfying the practical MEC. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm reduces the computational complexity and has the same performance, compared to the generalized sphere decoder, which always performs interference mitigation.

In this letter, we propose a data randomization scheme for endurance and interference mitigation of deeply-scaled multilevel flash memory. We address the relationships between data patterns and the raw bit error rate. An on-chip pseudorandom generator composed of an address-based seed location decoder is developed and evaluated with respect to uniformity. Experiments performed with 2x-nm and 4x-nm NAND flash memory devices illustrate the effectiveness of our scheme. The results show that the error rate is reduced up to 86% compared to that of a conventional cycling scheme. Accordingly, the endurance phenomenon can be mitigated through analysis of interference that causes tech shrinkage.
