This study examines the current status and problems of apartment house which has been large-scaled and clustered on urban space structure for the purpose of improving urban image and achieving qualitative enhancement of view, compares and analyzes the current status of external color of apartment houses located at the roadside and color features by their properties and further suggests basic materials for planning external colors of apartment house according to characteristics of waterside space. It surveys external colors of apartment houses within the seaside space in Mokpo city and obtains the following results of analyzing characteristics and problems by regions First, external colors of apartment houses within the waterside space of Hadang region were mainly Y, YR series and showed bright atmosphere, but they had lower association with its surrounding sea (BG series) and natural colors. External colors of apartment houses within the seaside space of Bukhang (North Port) region showed a variety of Y, YR and GY color series and these produced disharmony with surrounding view. Second, in the harmony of coloring at Hadang region, main and secondary colors showed harmony by same coloring at most apartment houses and those of Bukhang region showed harmony by color contrast.
