Fundamentally goal of Guidebook for Moral Life is made to promote efficiency of elementary students' moral studying through assisting Disciplined Life and elementary Moralas main textbooks. In spite of this objective and significance, there is a doubt Guidebook for Moral Life as an secondary textbook has been doing well its role in elementary moral studying. The reason of this suspicion is significantly extended form the construction of Guidebook for Moral Life to the way of using it. Moreover it has added excessive burdens to both elementary learners and teachers because it is regarded as a extra textbook. However, it is possible to hold its position firmly as an essential learning material of elementary moral education and to improve the efficiency of students' moral studying through analyzing the causes and taking adequate solutions. In this respect of view this study is to explore how to establish direction of construction and description of learning contents for Guidebook for moral Life. Through it, ultimately it is aim to develop Guidebook for moral Life as a secondary book so as to satisfy both elementary students' and teachers' need. Also I hope that this study will help make Guidebook for moral Life as a good quality secondary textbook in next revision.

원론적으로 생활의 길잡이는 바른생활과 초등 도덕을 보조해 초등학생들의 도덕학습을 효율화하는데 가장 큰 의의와 목적을 두고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 보조 교과서로서 생활의 길잡이가 과연 그 역할에 충실했는가에 대해서는 의문의 여지가 있다. 물론 이러한 의문의 원인에는 그 구성에서 활용에 이르기까지 광범위하게 포진되어 있다고 할 수 있다. 그러나 중요한 것은 이러한 원인 제공이 종국적으로 학습자와 교사 모두에게 그것을 하나의 부담거리로 인식하게 만들고 말았다는 사실이다. 이로 말미암아 학습자와 교사 모두에게 그 가치 및 필요성에 대한 의문 제기와 더불어 거부의 대상으로 전락하게 될 가능성이 농후하다. 따라서 이러한 문제점들의 원인을 분석하고 또 그에 적절한 대응책을 세움으로써 그 실용적 가치와 필요성에도 불구하고 평가절하 되고 있는 보조 교과서로서 생활의 길잡이의 위치를 공고히 하고, 초등학생들의 도덕학습에 실질적으로 기여할 수 있는 보조 교과서로서 자리매김할 수 있을 것이다. 이와 같은 측면에서 본 연구는 개정 교육과정에서 생활의 길잡이가 바른생활 및 초등 도덕과 교육과정 요소의 하나로서 올바로 자리매김하고 초등 도덕학습의 효율화를 위해서는 그 내용 구성 및 기술 방향을 설정하는 것이 선행되어야 한다는 판단 하에 현재 개발이 진행되고 있는 생활의 길잡이의 내용 구성 및 기술 방향을 모색하고자 한다.
