The purpose of this research was to grasp how the value education has been progressing in the current curriculum of moral education, and also to assert what should be further complemented thereto. To back up such an assertion, the researcher made an attempt to conduct an empirical analysis of how value education has been implemented with a focus on the current 9th grade moral textbook. As for the problems revealed amid such analytical works, and the parts that required for further complements, the researcher established a theoretical basis for new methods of value education through Hessen’s theory of values. Furthermore, as a specific method to realize Hessen’s ethics of insight in the respect of his personalism, the searcher presented the significance of Vipassana Meditation, which is a method for cultivation of Buddhism of Southern Asia, with the intent of using such a way of meditation as a new method for value education.

본 연구의 목적은, 현재 도덕 교과에서 가치 교육이 어떻게 진행되고 있으며 어떤 점이 더 보완 되어야 할 것인가를 주장하고자 했다. 이러한 주장을 뒷받침하고자 현재 9학년 도덕교과서를 중심으로 가치 교육이 어떻게 이루어지고 있는지 경험적인 분석을 시도해 보았다. 그 속에서 드러나는 문제점과 보충될 필요성이 있는 부분에 대해서 헤센의 『가치론』 을 통해 새로운 가치교육방법론의 이론적 토대를 마련하였다. 나아가 헤센의 인격주의 통찰 윤리학을 실현 시켜줄 구체적인 방법론으로 남방불교의 수행방법인 위빠사나 명상을 가치교육의 새로운 방법으로 시도해보고자 그 의의를 제시하였다.
