This paper is to clarify the management of anger for the pastor’s selfmanagement. If a pastor is negligent of such self-management, he/she is bound to give up his/her own ministry. Accordingly, self-management is significantly critical in the pastor’s lifestyle. Richard Clinton and Pau Leaveworth analyzed that, unfortunately, barely 30 percent of modern day ministers retire from their ministry successfully. In addition, they emphasized that the reasons for such failures are derived from six areas of pastors’self-management. In brief, six such reasons of failures in pastor’s lives consists of misuse of money, conceit, sexual desertion, failure in family relationships, and ministry without the Holy Spirit. Richard Clinton and Paul Leaveworth, however, did not mention psychological, nor practical ministerial areas. If a minister does not control or manage his/her anger, his/her ministry will not achieve success. In this research, the researcher dealt with definition, notion, influence of anger, anger in the old & new testaments, anger of pastoral psychological, ministerial view points, phenomena of anger, evil effects of anger in ministry, and methods of anger management. Normally, a pastor makes their spouse, children, church members, and deacon(ness), elders, and even God as an object of anger. In conclusion, the researcher suggested the cognitive therapy by William Backus & Marie Chapian as solution for anger. Actually, the TRUTH is similar with REBT by Albert Ellis and TCRRS by Parrott.

본 연구는 목회자의 자기관리에서 분노관리가 중요하다는 것을 밝히려는 것이다. 목회자는 어떤 직종에서 근무하는 사람보다도 철저한 자기관리가 요구되는 사람이다. 목회자가 자기관리에 소홀하면 목회에 실패할 가능성이 높다. Richard Clinton과 Paul Leaveworth는 현대 목회자 가운데 불행하게도 대략 30%만이 그들의 목회 사역을 성공적으로 마치고 있다고 분석했다. 목회자의 자기관리에 실패하는 요인은 물질의 오용과 남용, 권력의남용, 자만, 성적 탈선, 가족관계의 실패, 성령의 임재 없는 목회 등 여섯가지 요소라고 보았다. 하지만 그들은 목회자의 자기관리 가운데 분노관리에 대해서는 언급하지 않았다. 목회자는 교회에서 신자들에게 분노하지 않을 사람의 대명사처럼 인식되고 있다. 분노가 조절 및 관리되지 않은 목회자들은 대체로 성공적인 목회를 하는 경우가 드물다. 본 연구에서는 분노의 개념에서 분노의 정의, 성경에 나타난 분노, 목회심리학적 분노 이해, 목회자의 분노의 원인과 증상, 분노의 목회적 영향 및 폐해, 분노관리 방법 등을 다루었다. 목회자의 분노대상으로는 자녀와 아내, 신자들과 교회 중직자 그리고 하나님에게 분노를 나타내는 경우가 있음을 살펴보았다. 본 연구에서는 목회자의 분노관리에서 합리적 정서행동 치료적인 입장이라고 할 수 있는 인지치료적 기법에 기초하여 분노를 다루어야 한다는 것을 강조하였다. 본 연구자는 현대 목회자들이 자기관리를 잘 하여 훌륭한 목회를 해야 한다는 것을 주장했다.
