The present paper aims to seek potential of philosophical therapy as a essential activity of life by examining theory of healing for temperament of Yulgok's mind-study. This will be a trial of contemporary characteristic to prepare theoretical foundation of traditional and interdisciplinary dimension of especially, philosophical therapy among projects of 'humanities therapy for promoting humanities.' At present, humanities therapy and philosophical therapy, it is not easy to define their exact concept, scopes and target. This is because the science in itself called humanities therapy and philosophical therapy is a beginning one which has just stated, and professional research workers who are studying is as a science are insufficient and accordingly, introduction and methodology of the study is different from each other. Basically, humanities therapy should be studied based on literature, history and philosophy. Even though significance of clinic and natural science in it is discussed, it should be conducted on the basis of humane thinking, and what compose it basically should be literature, history and philosophy. I am to seek the potentials of philosophical therapy of humanities therapy through theory of healing for temperament of Yulgok's mind-study. Through theory of healing for temperament of Yulgok, it can be a trial to give shape to a question on whether it is possible to treat today, contemporary society's so called 'the disease of mind' including moral crisis and loss of identity. For this, this paper will discuss its point of argument based on nature of mind, the possibility to treat human nature, and healing for temperament. Yulgok thinks that the ultimate goal of managing ourselves is reaching the state of a saint. In theory of healing for temperament, to correct temperament means that we restore our nature which is the essence of our mind. Correction of temperament refers to overcoming or conversing of its non-goodness or impurity. I propose that expansion of ethics through theory of healing for temperament of Yulgok's mind-study is effective and appropriate traditional application to philosophical therapy of 21 century's humanities therapy.

본 논고의 목적은 율곡 심공부의 교기질론에 대한 고찰을 통해 삶의 본질적 활동으로서의 철학치료의 가능성을 모색해보는 것이다. 이는 인문학 진흥을 위한 인문치료학 프로젝트 가운데 특히 철학치료의 전통적ㆍ학제적 차원의 이론적 토대를 마련하는 시론적 성격의 시도가 될 것이다. 현재 인문학 치료 및 철학치료는 개념, 범주 그리고 대상 설정 면에서 정확한 정의를 내리기가 그리 용이하지 않다. 이는 인문치료학 및 철학치료라는 학문 자체가 이제 막 걸음마를 내딛는 태동 초기의 학문이고, 학적 연구의 대상으로 삼는 전문 연구자가 부족하며, 그에 따라 연구의 입론과 방법론이 서로 다르기 때문이다. 기본적으로 인문치료학은 문ㆍ사ㆍ철 중심의 연구 진행이 중심이 되어야 한다. 설령 임상과 과학의 인문치료학에서의 중요성을 논하더라도, 이는 어디까지나 인문학적 사유의 기초 위에서 이루어져야 할 것이고, 그 인문학적 사유의 기초를 이루는 것은 문ㆍ사ㆍ철 중심이어야 할 것이다. 논자는 율곡 심공부의 교기질론을 통해서 인문학 치료의 철학치료 가능성을 모색해보고자 한다. 이는 오늘날 현대 사회가 안고 있는 정신적 위기 및 정체성의 상실 등 이른바 ‘마음의 병’을 인문학의 도움으로 치료할 수 있는가라는 문제를 율곡의 교기질론을 통해 구체화하려는 일단의 시도라 할 수 있다. 이를 위해 본 논고에서는 마음의 특징, 심기의 철학치료 가능성, 그리고 교기질적 치료를 중심으로 논지를 전개하고자 한다. 율곡은 수기의 최종적인 목표가 성인의 경지에 도달하는 것으로 본다. 교기질론의 기질을 교정한다는 것은 우리 마음의 본체인 본성을 회복한다는 것이다. 기질의 교정은 기질의 불선함이나 부정함을 극복하거나 전환시키는 것을 말한다. 논자는 이러한 율곡 심공부의 교기질론을 통한 윤리의식의 확대는 21C 인 문학 치료의 철학치료에 유효적절한 전통적 적용이라고 제안하는 바이다.
