Translation problems are considered to be objective or at least intersubjective. They are different from translation difficulties that a certain translator or trainee encounters in a translation process because of the deficiency of linguistic, cultural or situational knowledge. Translation problems may occur even with a professional translator in a translation process. This paper purports to study cultural problems in translation focusing on cultural implication. Texts are interrelated with culture in various ways, which may often arise translation problems. Culturally implied information or messages must be replaced by appropriate target culture material or described in more explicit ways to be understood by target readers. In some cases translator may drop cultural allusions or references. This paper tries to show and evaluate possible ways of solving cultural translation problems caused by cultural implication, and make suggestions for further research emphasizing the necessity of considering text characteristics within situation and culture.
