“Mt. Miwa-yama sorrow of parting song” is a travel song that was song when Nukananoookimi and Inoenoookimi give the court etiquette while doing downward to the Oumi country some time before transfering the capital according to the prefatory motto said, “Country of Ohumi in the under”. 본 논문에서는 누카타노 오키미(額田王)의 노래 중에서도, 지금 논쟁이 되고 있는 ‘額田王下近江國時作歌井戸王即和歌(1-17, 18, 19歌)’ 소위 ‘三輪山惜別歌’의 제 문제를 究明하여, 이 歌群를 올바르게 이해하는 길을 제시하고자 한다. ‘下近江國時’라고 하는 題詞에 의하면, ‘三輪山惜別歌’는 누카타노 오키미와 이노에노 오키미(井戶王)가 遷都以前 언젠가 近江國으로 하향하면서 宮廷儀禮를 올릴 때 부른 旅行歌이다. 누카타노 오키미의 노래는 야마토(大和)의 상징인 미와야마(三輪山)를 보려고 하는 인간의 願望과 그 실체를 보여주지 않으려고 하는 미와야마(의 主神)와의 갈등을 시적서정으로 형상화한 훌륭한 旅行歌인 것이다. 보아서는 안 되는 미와야마(의 主神)를 보려고 하는 것은 인간의 원초적인 비극에 해당하는 것이다. 왜냐하면, 미와야마(의 主神)를 보게 되면 앙화를 입게 되기 때문에, ‘보이지 않는다’고 형상화함으로서 야마토의 國魂인 미와야마(의 主神)를 진정시킬 수 있는 것이다. 이 노래는 표면적으로는 야마토를 떠나면서 미와야마(의 主神)을 보지 못한 석별의 정을 형상화하고 있지만, 이렇게 노래함으로써 여행자는 國魂의 보호로 안전한 여행과 무사귀환을 보장받는 것이다. 그러므로 이것은 의례의 실패가 아니라, 의례의 성공을 노래하는 것이다. 作者는 현재 나라야마(奈良山)에 당도하기 전에, 미와야마 부근 어디에선가 의례를 행하면서 이 노래를 부른 것이다. 이노에노 오키미의 노래는 ‘정체를 드러내지 않으려고 하는’ 미와야마(의 主神)의 意志에 反하여, 미와야마(의 主神)를 보려고 하는 인간의 願望을 노래하고 있다. 이것은 미와야마(의 主神)를 鎭魂하려고 하는 의도와는 상반된 抒情이기 때문에 누카타노 오키미의 和歌로서 어울리지 않는 것이다. ‘大和中心思想’에 입각하여, 近江國으로 옮기는 遷都는 나카오에노 미코(中大兄皇子)의 잘못된 선택이라는 사실을 강조하기 위하여, 누카타노 오키미의 ‘三輪山惜別歌’를 御歌로 한 것이 ‘類聚歌林’의 입장이 아닌가 한다. 이러한 해석은 후대의 승자의 입장에서 이 노래를 해석하는 것으로, 이러한 해석은 노래가 불린 시대정신에 적합하지 않는 것이다.
