In general, the Internet environment as of 2003 has been called 'Web 2.0.' One of the most
striking traits in the age of Web 2.0 is the concept of "user-friendly web.” It is a phenomenon, in which a large number of users, not a single leader, are creating cultural contents. In such an environment, web navigation allows users to use the web far more conveniently than ever efore. The existing web navigations had some limitations on the infra in the Web 1.0 environment so that their HTML-based texts or JAVA programming language had less efficient in creating visual effects. However, along with the completion of infra and stability of Web 2.0, the production of various visual navigations has been recently appealing more to the users than before. The use of digital illustration has created particular effects. First of all, it could supplement the shortcomings such as the disharmony of simple texts and layout. However, its use would not be always appropriate. It should be used according to the nature of each website, types of visitors and purposes. In particular, it is highly desirable to let people use the web navigation during the peak time and not lose their directions. Digital illustration should be utilized to express the roles of web navigation in a more efficient way.
To this end, this study was aimed to analyze the websites where digital illustration has been
used and to lead the users to apply the illustration that could be utilized in web navigation more efficiently.

일반적으로 2003년대 이후의 인터넷 환경을 웹2.0이 라 부르며 웹2.0시대에서의 대표적 특성은 “사용자 중 심의 웹” 이라고 할 수 있으며 1인 리더가 아닌 사용자 다수가 문화컨텐츠를 만들어 가는 현상을 말한다. 이러한 환경에서 웹 네비게이션(Web navigation)은 사용자를 더욱 더 편리하게 웹을 이용할 수 있도록 유도한다. 기존의 웹 네비게이션은 웹 1.0 환경에서의 인프라에 대한 제약으로 HTML 기반의 텍스트나 JABA란 프로그래밍 언어로 비쥬얼 효과가 매우 적었다. 하지만 인프라의 완성과 웹 2.0의 안정기에 들어선 현재, 다양한 비주얼이 강화 된 네비게이션의 제작은 사용자로부터 더 많은 호응을 얻기에 충분하다. 디지털 일러스트레이션의 사용에 따라 디자이너들은 많은 효과를 볼 수 있었으며. 단순 텍스트와 레이아웃과의 부조화를 디지털 일러스트레이션의 사용을 통해 충분히 보완할 수 있었다. 하지만 이러한 디지털 일러스트레이션의 사용이 무조건적으로 적절하지는 않기 때문에 각 사이트들의 특성, 방문자계층, 목적에 따라 디지털 일러스트레이션를 활용하여야 할 것이다.
