This study focuses mainly on what influences he has made on the ideology of the Study of Manners of the Kiho School of the Chosun Dynasty by inquiring deeply into the idea of Gu-bong Song Ik-pil (龜峯 宋翼弼 1534~1599) who led the Study of Manners of the School, centered on that philosophy of the study. He thought that whether doing good or not heavily relies on managing his or her mind, and as a way to do so, he developed 'Jik(meaning similar to "straightforward")' concept. This concept to him means a keeping straightforwardness and practicing straight-doing in and outside respectively, which affected the Study of Manners. The Study of Manners of him developed in a way that justifies his moral duty and materializes its orthodoxy based on the Jik thought. The ideology of the Study of Manners of Song Ik-pil has its basis on 'moral duty', 'circumstances' and 'moderation.' The ideology especially emphasized the establishment of the tradition that depends on the moral duty theory of the Sung Confucianism, following the principle of the book of the customary formalities of a family, written by Sung,朱子家禮. However, it has often shown flexibility by adopting the customs of the age on the condition that they are not against the manners tradition. Such ideology has ever since played a vital role in forming the Study of Manners of the Kiho School.

본 연구는 畿湖學派의 禮學을 啓導한 인물이라고 할 수 있는 龜峯 宋翼弼(1534~1599)의 사상을 주로 예학사상을 중심으로 고찰함으로써, 조선조 기호학파의 예학사상에 끼친 그의 사상적 영향을 살펴본 것이다. 龜峯은 善과 不善의 여부는 治心의 여부에 달린 것으로 보고, 治心을 위한 수양방법으로 直思想을 전개하였다. ‘直’思想은 구봉 사상의 중요한 특징이 되는데, 구봉의 直思想은 내적으로는 直心을 지니고 외적으로는 直行을 실천하는 것이다. 이는 禮學思想에도 영향을 주어, 구봉의 예학사상은 直思想을 기초로 名分을 지키고 正統을 구현하는 모습으로 전개되었다.龜峯의 禮學思想은 ‘名分’과 ‘時宜’, ‘中正’을 근본정신으로 하고 있다. 특히 성리학의 名分論에 입각하여 統을 수립함을 강조하였으며, 예법의 전개과정에서 비교적 朱子家禮의 원칙에 충실하고자 하였다. 그러나 한편으로 예의 원칙에서 벗어나지 않는 경우에는 時俗의 예법도 절충하는 입장을 보이고 있다. 이러한 그의 禮學思想은 이후 畿湖學派의 禮學을 형성하는데 중요한 역할을 하였다.
