This study examines what the schoolmasters and the teachers in the educational field think of the leadership of the schoolmistresses in the elementary schools, and aims to find out the differences in their appreciations of the leadership of the schoolmistresses by taking as the questions for this study how different the two groups are in their viewpoints.
First, the difference in the appreciation of the schoolmistresses' leadership was shown, according to genders and ages. The schoolmistresses showed higher scores than the schoolmasters, and the schoolmasters under the age of 50 showed higher than those over the age of 60. Second, the results of the survey showed the significant difference in the appreciation by the subjects' backgrounds of genders, ages, years of career and the service areas. But the result showed almost no difference by the subjects' working experiences with the schoolmistress and their ambitions for promotion. And the results in the teachers' response represented that the women teachers showed higher scores than the male teachers; the younger
teachers, than the older ones; the teachers with less years of service, than those with more; the teachers working in the small cities, than those in metropolises.
Third, the analysis showed the significant difference between the schoolmasters, the master teachers and the teachers in the appreciation of the schoolmistresses' leadership. For the most part, in the scores representing the level of positive appreciation, those of the schoolmaster showed the highest, and, on the other hand, those of the teachers showed the lowest.

본 연구는 초등학교 현장에서 근무하는 교장과 교사들이 여교장이 발휘하는 리더십을 어떻게 인식하고 있는지 조사하고, 교장과 교사 두 집단 상호간의 인식의 차이가 어떠한지를 알아보는 데 목적이 있다. 연구 결과 교장의 성별과 연령대별 인식, 교사의 성별, 연령대별, 경력별, 근무지역별 인식, 직급별로 교장과 부장교사, 그리고 교사들의 인식에 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 후속 연구에서는 이러한 인식 차이의 원인에 대한 연구와 더불어 인식차를 줄이기 위한 방안 모색을 위한 후속 연구가 요구된다. 또한 연구대상자의 배경변인을 다양하게 시도하여 리더십 인식특성을 좀 더 깊이있게 다루어야 할 것이다.
