The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of the emotional education program on emotional intelligence and friendship of the elementary school students.
To achieve this purpose, the following research hypotheses were established:
First, the experimental group received the emotional education program will show a significant increase than the control group on emotional intelligence.
Second, the experimental group received the emotional education program will show a positive improvement than the control group on the level of friendship.
The subjects in this study were 40 students in their third years of elementary school in Changwon city, Kyoungnam province. Then a pre-test measuring the emotional intelligence and the level of friendship was given to subjects and were assigned into the same quality with the experimental group(N=20) and the control group(N=20). Disposal about experimental group executed the emotional education program for 60 minutes, 12times, once a week while the control group didn't. After the experiment, a post-test was given to verify the effects of the
program. Collected data from two groups were analyzed through one-way ANOVA using SPSS 12.0.
The results of this study were as follows:
First, the experimental group, which received the treatment of an emotional education program, had significant difference in the emotional intelligence compared to control group.
Second, the experimental group, which received the treatment of an emotional education program, had significant difference in the level of friendship compared to control group.
The result above proves that emotional education program improves the emotional intelligence and the level of friendship of elementary school students.
Elements of affective aspect like emotional intelligence and friendship are very important variables for achieving goals of the education for the whole man as the school education Therefore, it's significant to study the way of growing up the friendship of elementary school student by guiding their emotional intelligence to positive direction.
This study have shown that emotional education program which was applied for elementary school students is effective for their educational intelligence and friendship. However, it takes a long time that improvement of emotional intelligence and friendship brings out changes of acts. So it need to apply long term emotional education program for elementary school students' successful school life.

본 연구에서는 심성계발 프로그램이 초등학교 아동의 정서지능 및 교우관계에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 경상남도 창원시 S초등학교 3학년 총 40명을 연구대상으로 하였으며, 실험집단에 대한 처치는 12회기의 심성계발 프로그램을 투입하였다. 연구에 사용된 검사도구는 문용린(1996)이 제작한 정서지능 검사지와 김형태(1989)가 제작한 교우관계 검사지이며, 그 결과를 알아보기 위해서 ANOVA검증을 실시하였다. 연구의 결과 및 결론을 요약하여 제시하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 일정기간 동안 심성계발 프로그램에 참여한 실험집단은 참여하기 전보다 정서지능점수와 정서지능의 모든 하위영역에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였다(p<.01). 이는 본 연구에서 사용한 심성계발 프로그램이 아동의 정서지능 향상에 효과가 있음을 말해주는 것이다.
둘째, 심성계발 프로그램에 참여한 실험집단은 참여하기 전보다 교우관계 총 점수에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였다(p<.001). 하위영역별로는 친구의 유무와 신뢰도, 교제의 지속성, 친구간의 적응에서 차이가 나타났다(p<.05). 따라서 심성계발 프로그램이 교우관계를 향상시키는데도 긍정적인 효과를 가져왔다고 볼 수 있다. 그러므로 교육현장에서는 심성계발 프로그램과 같은 집단상담 프로그램을 통한 생활지도와 상담활동을 통해 아동의 정서지능을 향상시키고 아동들 간의 교우관계 형성을 촉진하는 방안이 지속적으로 모색되어야 할 것이다.
