This study aims to argue that there is to be identified the two visions of moral educations in order to achieve the ideal goal in which virtue formation and virtue-centered community could flourish in MacIntyre's virtue ethics theory. The MacIntyre's project that he'll make a new ethics that could overcome both liberal-individualist and capitalist morality, and Stalin's totalitarian-utilitarian morality, seems to be originated from his Marxist Beliefs. The new virtue ethics which Aristotles's virtue ethics was revised into by MacIntyre is composed by three levels of virtue formation, that is, practice, narrative self, and tradition. And Practical rationality is a ability to control the process of virtue formation. However, the community in which the process and the practical rationality can operate properly live no longer exists in today liberal-capitalist societies except too few local communities. Therefore we must prepare a strategy for two moral educations in order to arrive at the ideal goal. The one is to formulate a ideal type of moral education that could be used in true community and tradition in the future positively. The other is to reject all liberal-capitalist moral education negatively. Macintyre holds that no theory could be value-free and partial. Thus, he may suggest that we should go through negative vision of moral education toward positive vision of moral education. Especially, MacIntyre insists that the shared universal virtue education in liberal societies would result to the virtue education that will teach how to be seemed to be virtuous without doing virtuous behaviors, which serves as ideology or simulacre by way of dominant political culture of political leaders and mass infected by rethorics of them. And so, we must resist and criticize them. However, MacIntyre's dichotomic theory is so rigid and partial that he could not help recognize capitalist reality too pessimistic and his plan too optimistic, therefore could not suggest a helpful or practical implication to moral education in our society. Still, any moral education that may include a abstract and pseudo-integration must listen to MacIntyre's suggestion.

매킨타이어의 󰡔덕의 상실󰡕 이전의 연구들은 그의 주장이 마르크스주의로부터 진화되어 왔음을 보여주고 있다. 그는 적어도 자본주의와 자유주의 개인주의 사회에 대한 비판에 있어서 마르크스주의가 여전히 유효성을 가지고 있다고 본다. 하지만 기존의 많은 논문들은 그의 덕 윤리학을 자유주의 도덕교육과 양립할 수 있다거나 적어도 부분적으로 자유주의 도덕교육에 접목할 수 있다고 보고, 그의 덕의 형성에 관한 주장을 보완적으로 혹은 적극적으로 수용하는 경향을 보인다. 그러나 본 논문은 매킨타이어의 덕 윤리학은 근본적인 수준에서 그러한 경향을 받아들이기 어렵다고 주장한다. 그의 이론과 실천의 통일 명제에 근거하면, 그것들은 지양의 대상이다. 그는 자유주의 국가에서 공통의 도덕 혹은 덕교육을 공적 수준에서 실시하는 것은 결코 진정한 덕을 형성시킬 수 없으며, 진정한 덕교육은 새로운 공동체에서만 가능하다고 본다. 그의 덕 윤리학은 이론적 제안이자 사회적 실천에 대한 요청이다. 매킨타이어의 덕 윤리학 속에는 아리스토텔레스를 급진적으로 해석하게 만드는 기독교적 마르크스주의의 요소가 담겨져 있다. 이것은 두 가지 형태의 도덕교육을 상정하게 만든다. 목표문화와 전이문화로서의 도덕교육이다. 현재의 자본주의 사회상황에서는 전자를 구현하기 어렵기 때문에 후자에 치중할 수밖에 없다. 특정한 실천양식과 공동체를 전제로 한 교육을 상정하기에, 덕교육에 있어서 자유주의 개인주의적 접근을 부정하게 만든다. 그러나 매킨타이어의 주장은 자신의 이론이 현실적으로 실천되기 어렵다는 것을 암시하고 있다.
