This paper examines social network relationships among Korean politicians. The paper describes the structure of friendship network patterns among the 17th South Korean National Assemblymen and how the structure is associated with some other variables such as educational backgrounds, party identification, and home town location so on. The data
were obtained for 2004. Several techniques from social network analysis were used. The results reveal that political party turned out the most influential factor followed by high school, university, hometown, and experience.

제17대 국회의원들 간의 친구 관계가 어떻게 구조적으로 나타나고 있으며, 이 들의 지역, 학력, 그리고 경험(당선 회수) 등이 친구관계와 어떤 연관성을 갖는가를 살펴 본 연구이다. 제 17 대 국회의원들에게 물은 가장 친분이 있는 3인을 물은 설문과 이들의 출신 대학교, 활동 지역, 당선 경험 등의 데이터 간의 상관관계를 사회 관계망의 조사방법론을 사용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 한국의 정치망은 소속 정당이 친구관계에 가장 중요한 영향력을 미쳤으며, 이어서 출신 고등학교, 대학교, 고향, 그리고 경험의 순서로 영향력을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
