The purpose of this study was to investigate the trend of music therapy publication in and out of Korea from 2000 to 2006. The data consisted of the publications on the field of music therapy publications written in English which were posted on the Internet site "AMAZON" in the title of "Music Therapy" and publications written in Korean, which were surfed through the homepage of The National Library of Korea and Korea Education & Research Information Service by using the way of on-line and off-line alternatively. Using Excel 2003 pivot table analysis, the researcher classified the whole data into 5 categories which were the annual number of issues, contents, the type of writing (co-writing or single), and status of translation and career of the author. The results were first, there were 117 publications in total, 82 publications written in English and 35 in Korean. Second, in terms of contents, they dealt mainly with the introduction of music therapy, particular models or methods, manuals of practical music therapy, the method of study on music therapy and medical applications or case studies about certain clients. The result showed that the contents like medical application or case studies about certain clients were frequently dealt 41%(48 out of 117), and then the introduction of music therapy follows(32%). Third, the number of issues through the type of writing indicated that publication authored by one person has 64%(75 out of 117) ratio in the field, comparing with 34% of co-writing(30 out of 117) and 2% of others like group-writing. Forth, in accordance with the status of translation, 54%(75 out of 117) of whole publications were not translated while 46%(16 out of 117) were translated. Finally, the career of authors who published music therapy-related books was revealed that the music therapist’s writings were dominant in the ratio of 68%(80 out of 117). Meanwhile, the rest or anonyms(11%), the writers working in music-related jobs such as music coordinators(10%), co-writers between music therapists and experts on the other subjects(9%) and others such as psychologist, philosopher, social welfare and art therapist were 2%.

이 연구의 목적은 2000년부터 2006년 사이에 출판된 음악치료 국외와 국내 서적의 출판경향을 조사하는 것이었다. 국외서적의 경우 아마존 홈페이지에서 ‘음악치료’ 키워드로 검색된 도서목록 중 출판언어가 영어인 출판물을 중심으로 주요출판사의 홈페이지에서의 온라인작업 및 대학 중앙도서관을 통한 오프라인 작업으로 대상 서적을 선정하였다. 국내서적의 경우 국립중앙도서관 및 한국교육학술정보원의 홈페이지와 이들을 소장한 대학도서관, 국립중앙도서관의 서적 목록을 기초로 대상 서적을 선정하였다. 연구자는 연구대상 목록을 연도별 출판현황, 내용, 집필형태, 번역여부, 저자이력 등으로 범주를 나눠 분류하였으며, 각 항목을 코딩한 자료를 엑셀 2003 피벗테이블의 범주분석을 통해 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다: 첫째, 국외 음악치료관련 서적은 82권, 국내 음악치료관련 서적은 35권으로 총 117권이 출판되었다. 둘째, 국내외 음악치료 관련서적의 내용은 음악치료 개론, 특정모델 또는 방법, 음악치료활동 매뉴얼, 음악치료 연구법, 의학 및 기타분야 또는 특정 클라이언트에 대한 사례 등 5가지로 분류 되었다. 총 117권 중 의학 및 기타분야 또는 특정 클라이언트의 사례를 다룬 음악치료 서적이 48권(41%)으로 가장 많았으며, 다음은 음악치료개론서 성격의 서적이 37권(32%)이었다. 셋째, 집필 형태별 출판 부수는 총 117권 중 단독집필이 75권(64%)으로 가장 많았고, 공동 집필이 40권(34%)이었으며, 기관 집필은 2권(2%)으로 가장 적었다. 넷째, 국내 서적을 번역서의 여부로 분류한 결과 35권의 서적 중 번역서가 아닌 것이 19권(54%), 번역서인 것이 16권(46%)으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 음악치료관련 서적을 출판한 저자의 이력으로 분류하였을 때 음악치료사에 의해 출판된 서적이 117권 중 80권(68%)으로 주류를 이루었고, 나머지 32%는 그 외 또는 미상이 13권(11%), 음악(교육･특수교육)교수 / 코디네이터 / 디렉터 등 음악관련 직종에 종사하는 저자에 의해 출판된 서적이 12권(10%), 음악치료사와 다른 분야 전문가와의 공동 저자에 의한 서적이 10권(9%), 심리 / 철학 / 사회복지 / 그 외 예술치료사에 의해 출판된 서적이 2권(2%)인 것으로 나타났다.
