This paper handled the ethical meaning revealed in the way of ecological thinking. First of all, the world-view in modern times was examined critically. That is, the problem of the way of mechanical thinking was explored. As the alternative to it, the way of ecological thinking requires the fundamental change of life. In other word, it puts more emphasis on the relationship of all beings than the former human-centrism. Accordingly it intends to deconstruct the human-centered hierarchy. The object of ethics is not confined to human being but expands it into animal, plant and elements of eco-system. In short, animal-centrism and eco-centrism can be named. These characteristics make you notice on the nature-centrism of Buddhism and Taoism because the way of oriental thinking focuses on not the conflict but the harmony between nature and human. Therefore, it distrusts the dualistic metaphysics of nature and human. It regards the relationship of harmonious community absolutely, which demands the retrospection about the attitude of life. Namely, it emphasizes the life of existence which centers on inner experience, not on possession-oriented life. Also this kind of lifestyle can be found in the way of oriental thinking and ancestors' lifestyle. This paper was to reinforce the ethical meaning shown in the way of ecological thinking. This sort of meaning is in demand of the reflection toward our life and the awakening of consciousness. Consequently ethics education should accept the ethical meaning revealed in the way of ecological thinking and open the horizon of harmonious life of human and nature.

본 글은 생태학적 사유 방식에 나타난 윤리적 의미를 찾아보고자 하였다. 먼저 논의는 근대의 기계론적 세계관에 대한 비판에서 출발하였다. 서양의 종교와 근대 철학의 기초가 되었던 합리주의에 토대를 둔 인간중심주의적 자연관과 그 입장의 문제를 조명해보고자 하였다. 자연과 인간의 이원론적 형이상학은 자연을 대상화하고 도구적 가치만을 인정하였다. 이것이 인간중심적 환경윤리라 볼 수 있고 이러한 입장은 극단적인 이기적 입장과 공리주의적 입장으로 나누어 볼 수 있었다. 그러나 생태학적 사유 방식은 근대의 기계론적 자연관에 대한 새로운 해석을 보여준다. 즉 근대적 사유 방식의 자연과 인간의 이원적 대립을 해체하고 종래의 인간중심적 입장의 문제를 제시하고 있다. 자연과 인간은 상호 대립적 입장이 아니라 조화로운 상호 의존성을 부각하고자 한다. 이것은 근대적 삶의 양식과 행위에 대한 획기적 전환을 의미하는 것이기도 하다. 이러한 생태학적 삶의 근거들을 형이상학적 일원론과 전일적 세계관을 통하여 대안을 제시해보고자 하였다. 그래서 본 글은 이러한 삶의 방향과 그 윤리적 의미를 가름해보자 하였다.
