The purpose of this study is to analyze the Korean film, 'Old Boy' which has shown a successful
attempt to add color effectively in the movie. First, this study demonstrates four symbolic colors in
'Old Boy' in detail to provide an in-depth analysis of their symbolic features. Based on the findings, this study discusses that color is used to better deliver the message of films and beautify the socially tabooed subjects in films. Secondly, this study investigates each character's fashion color and interior color. The results indicate that colors are used to mark the characters in this film and reveal the delicate shades of their psychology. On the whole, this study investigates the underlying effects of colors and their relation with other elements in the film in an effort to enhance a proper use of color in the field of films.
