A Study on Digital Processes in the AI Era : Conceptual Definition and Comparative Analysis of Analog and Digital Robotic Processes
This study tentatively defines robotic processes in the AI era as the ‘Digital Process’ and examines its conceptual validity through comparison with traditional robotic processes. As it is used interchangeably with digital transformation and smart factory, academic criteria are needed. A working definition is first derived from prior studies and adjacent concepts; diffusion drivers, performance indicators, and discriminating criteria are then separated into distinct layers and compared across six dimensions. Firm-level statistics (e.g., a 30.0% productivity gain over pre-adoption levels) serve only as separate context. A process is classified as digital only when three necessary conditions (data-based perception, real-time judgment, autonomous/adaptive control) are all confirmed by evidence, with judgment withheld when evidence is insufficient; human-robot collaboration is a separate, task-dependent axis. Boundary cases and public cases illustrate the scope.

Ever since next generation convergence technology became one of the most important industries in the nation, computing professionals have encountered a growing number of challenges. Along with scholars and colleagues in related fields, they have gathered in avariety of forums and meetings over the last few decades to share their knowledge, experiences and the outcome of their research. These exchanges have led to the founding of the International Next-generation Convergence technology (INCA) on December 1, 2015. INCA was registered as an incorporated association under the Ministry of Information and Communications. The main purpose of the organization is to improve our society by achieving the highest capability possible in next generation convergence technology.
