Picture books help children's emotional stability and school adjustment during the transition to elementary school. However, previous studies focused primarily on their use and effects, rarely examining narrative structures and foundational competencies for transition education together. Therefore, we selected 24 picture books fro m the Ministry of Education’s (2022) "Stepping-Stone" list themed around school adjustment. By modifying Jeong's (2018) instrument and utilizing the 2025 Standard Guidelines for Five-Year-Old Children, we evaluated bot h sentences and illustrations by scene, securing a reliability coefficient of .91 through expert cross-validation. W e found imbalances in narrative structures and foundational competencies, where non-family characters, first-person protagonist perspectives, and single internal narrators predominated. Among the foundational competencies, social-emotional and self-regulation competencies were above average, whereas lifelong learning and physical movement were below average. We suggest that these results reflect an emphasis on school environments and relations hips, underscoring the necessity of balancing narrative structures and foundational competencies in future book development. This study revealed the visual value of picture books as educational media and suggested directions and cautions for future development and educational use.

그림책은 초등학교 전이를 앞둔 유아의 정서적 안정과 학교생활 적응을 지원하는 교육매체로 활용되고 있으나, 선행연구는 그림책의 활용과 효과에만 초점을 두어 그림책의 서사구조와 이음교육 기초역량을 함께 분석한 연구는 부족하였다. 이에 연구대상으로 교육부(2022)에서 발간한 이음교육 지원 자료의 '징검다리 그림책' 중 학교적응 주제와 '초등학교', '여덟 살', '일 학년'이 포함된 그림책 24권을 선정하고, 서사구조와 이음교육 기초역량을 분석하였다. 정혜진(2018)의 분석도구를 토대로 유아교육 전문가와 협의를 거쳐 서사구조 분석도구를 구성하고, 기초역량은 『2025 5세 이음교육 표준안』에 제시된 내용을 기준으로 삼아 분석 과정에서 그림책의 그림을 장면 단위로 빈도결과를 도출하였으며 전문가 교차검증을 실시하여 신뢰도 .91을 확보하였다. 연구 결과, 서사구조와 기초역량의 구성에는 편중이 나타났다. 서사구조에서는 가족 외 인물, 1인칭 주인공 시점, 내적 단일 서술자가 높게 나타났다. 이음교육 기초역량에서는 사회정서와 자기조절이 전체 평균보다 높게 나타났으나, 생애학습과 신체운동은 전체 평균보다 낮게 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 유·초 이음교육 관련 그림책이 학교 환경과 관계 형성을 주요하게 다루며, 서사구조와 기초 역량 구성의 다양성과 균형을 보완할 필요가 있음을 시사한다. 본 연구는 교육매체로서 그림책의 시각적 가치를 발견 할 수 있는 서사구조 분석결과를 도출하였다는 점에서 큰 의미가 있다. 일부 편중된 내용을 밝혀 이후 유·초 이음교육 그림책 개발 방향 및 교육에서 그림책 활용의 주의점을 밝힌 데에 의의가 있다.
