Domestic Research Trends on Cognitive Function in the Aged Using Text Mining and Topic Modeling

- This study aims to identify trends and major themes in domestic research on cognitive function in older adults. The data used for the analysis consisted of 534 papers identified by simultaneously searching for the keywords 'aged' and 'cognition' over a 10-year period from 2016 to 2025. A co-occurrence network was developed and analyzed using these keywords, and trends in research topics were analyzed through topic modeling and visualized using word clouds and sociograms. The top five most frequently occurring keywords were 'mild cognitive impairment', 'dementia', 'depression', 'disability', and 'quality of life'. The top five terms with the highest link centrality were 'mild cognitive impairment', 'depression', 'dementia', 'disability', and 'activities of daily living', while the top five terms with the highest betweenness centrality were 'mild cognitive impairment', 'depression', 'art therapy', 'dementia', and 'disability'. We analyzed the four topics identified through topic modeling as follows: 'Addressing depression and quality of life issues,' 'Perception of disability, facility utilization, and qualitative approaches,' 'Integrated analysis of cognitive improvement programs,' and 'Convergent approaches to cognitive-related issues.' Considering the research themes and trends regarding cognition in older adults identified over the past decade, research on interventions for various physical problems related to cognition and policy development studies should be conducted even more actively.

- 본 연구는 노인의 인지 관련한 국내 연구의 동향과 주요한 주제를 파악하기 위한 것이다. 자료는 2016년부터 2025년까지 10년 동안 '노인'과 '인지'의 핵심어를 동시에 입력하여 확인된 534편의 논문을 분석에 이용하였다. 핵심어를 이용한 동시출현네트워크를 개발하고 분석하였으며, 토픽모델링으로 연구주제의 동향을 분석하고, 워드클라우드와 소시오그램으로 시각화하였다. 다빈도 출현 핵심어는 상위 5위는 '경도인지장애', '치매', '우울', '장애', '삶의 질'로 나타났다. 연결중심성이 높은 상위 5위는 '경도인지장애', '우울', '치매', '장애', '일상생활수행능력'이 확인되었으며, 매개중심성 상위 5위는 '경도인지장애', '우울', '미술치료', '치매', '장애'로 나타났다. 토픽모델링으로 분석한 4개의 토픽은 '인지기능 저하 노인의 우울과 삶의 질', '인지기능 저하 노인의 일상생활수행능력에 따른 요양시설 이용 ', '신체활동을 통한 인지개선 프로그램', '독거노인의 인지기능 저하에 대한 융합적 접근'으로 확인되었다. 지난 10년 동안 연구에서 확인된 노인의 인지에 대한 탐구 주제와 흐름을 고려하였을 때, 인지와 관련한 다양한 신체적 문제에 대한 중재 연구와 정책 개발 연구가 더욱더 활발하게 수행되어야 할 것이다.
