The purpose of this study is to examine the structural relationship between relative deprivation, hopelessness, and stock addiction tendency among young adults facing structural inequality and reduced social mobility. An online survey was conducted with 515 young adults aged 19 to 39 in South Korea. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, hierarchical regression analysis, and the bootstrapping method via SPSS PROCESS Macro (Model 4) with 5,000 resamples. The main findings are as follows. First, relative deprivation had a statistically significant positive effect on stock addiction tendency. Second, relative deprivation significantly increased the level of hopelessness. Third, hopelessness partially mediated the relationship between relative deprivation and stock addiction tendency. These findings demonstrate that problematic stock investment among young adults is not merely a matter of financial literacy or personal greed, but a behavioral addiction arising from the intersection of structural deprivation and cognitive despair. Based on these results, this study proposes policy and practical implications, including integrated financial-psychological intervention systems and enhanced social safety nets to prevent financial behavioral addiction among youth.

본 연구는 구조적 불평등과 계층 이동성 둔화에 직면한 청년 세대의 문제적 주식투자 행위에 주목하여, 상대적 박탈감이 절망감을 매개로 주식중독 성향에 미치는 영향 경로를 실증적으로 규명하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 전국 만 19세 이상 39세 이하 청년 515명을 대상으로 온라인 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 수집된 자료는 기술통계, 상관분석, 위계적 회귀분석 및 SPSS PROCESS Macro(Model 4) 부트스트래핑(5,000회)을 활용하여 분석하였다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청년의 상대적 박탈감은 주식중독 성향에 통계적으로 유의미한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 상대적 박탈감은 매개변수인 절망감을 유의하게 증가시키는 것으로 확인되었다. 셋째, 상대적 박탈감과 주식중독 성향 간의 관계에서 절망감의 부분매개효과가 통계적으로 유의미하게 검증되었다. 이러한 결과는 청년의 문제적 주식투자가 단순한 재무적 역량 부족이나 개인의 일탈을 넘어, 사회구조적 불평등과 미래에 대한 인지적 무력감이 교차하여 발현되는 행위중독적 양상임을 시사한다. 본 연구는 실증분석 결과를 토대로 청년 금융위험 대응을 위한 통합적 금융·심리 개입 체계 구축 및 사회안전망 강화 등 정책적·실천적 방안을 제언하였다.
