For Deleuze, the problem of the One-Multiple, that is, the immanent and irreducible identity of the One and the Multiple, constitutes a fundamental problem of his philosophy that persists not only in the thesis of ‘univocity’ in Difference and Repetition but also through to A Thousand Plateaus. However, the formula of the pure identity of the One and the Multiple presents interpretive difficulties due to its conceptual density and paradoxical character; above all, the question of how it can be distinguished from a monistic configuration that subordinates the Multiple to the One remains a serious one. With regard to this problem, this paper draws attention to the fact that Deleuze himself is acutely aware of precisely this risk and sets up clear boundary markers at the points where it emerges, and to the fact that this is distinctly manifested in his readings of Plato, Spinoza and Bergson. On this basis, the paper examines Deleuze’s readings of the three philosophers, with a particular focus on Difference and Repetition, and reconstructs three risks that emerge in different ways. In Plato, the risk is found in the relation between immanence and transcendence; in Spinoza, in the relation between the One and the Multiple; and in Bergson, in the relation between the virtual and the actual. In each case, what is disclosed is a different risk that the immanent and irreducible identity of the One and the Multiple may incline toward a One-centered configuration. If Deleuze’s thought of the One-Multiple is formed in an antagonistic relation with these risks, the present discussion, conversely, allows for a richer and more multidimensional illumination of Deleuze’s thought of the One-Multiple.

들뢰즈에게 일자=다자의 문제, 즉 일자와 다자의 내재적이고 비환원적인 일치는 『차이와 반복』의 ‘일의성’ 테제에서는 물론, 『천 개의 고원』에 이르기까지 지속되는 그의 철학의 근본 문제를 이룬다. 그러나 일자와 다자의 순수 일치라는 정식은 그 압축성과 역설성으로 인한 해석적 난점을 갖고, 무엇보다, 그것이 어떻게 다자를 일자에 종속시키는 일원론적 형상과 구별될 수 있는지는 중대한 의문으로 남는다. 이러한 문제에 대해 본고는 들뢰즈 자신이 바로 그 위험을 예민하게 인지하고, 위험이 출현하는 지점들에 분명한 경계표를 세운다는 점에, 그리고 이는 플라톤, 스피노자, 베르그손에 대한 들뢰즈의 독해와 함께 명료히 드러난다는 점에 주목한다. 이로부터 본고는 『차이와 반복』을 중심으로 세 철학자에 대한 들뢰즈의 독해를 살피며, 각기 다른 방식으로 드러나는 세 가지 위험을 재구성한다. 플라톤에게서는 내재성과 초월성의 관계에서, 스피노자에게서는 일자와 다자의 관계에서, 베르그손에게서는 잠재적인 것과 현행적인 것의 관계에서 일자=다자의 비환원적 일치가 일자 중심의 형상으로 기울어질 위험들이 발견된다. 들뢰즈의 일자=다자의 사유가 이러한 위험과의 길항관계 속에서 형성된다면, 본고의 논의는 역으로 들뢰즈의 일자=다자의 사유를 더욱 풍부하고 입체적으로 조명하는 결과를 가져온다.
