Utilization Patterns and Early Performance of an Infrastructure-Based Lightweight EV Support Program - Focusing on Firm-Level Operational Data -
This study analyzes the relationship between support utilization patterns and early performance and operational-experience indicators among beneficiary firms of the first phase of the “Lightweight EV Commercialization Platform Project.” Lightweight EV Component Manufacturers face not only testing, validation, and commercialization requirements arising from the transition to electric vehicles, but also additional constraints related to price sensitivity, lightweight and compact design, and limited unit prices. Using firm-level operational data submitted by 25 beneficiary firms during the 2023–2025 project period, this study conducts descriptive statistics, Spearman rank correlation analysis, non-parametric tests, cluster analysis, satisfaction-performance correlation analysis, and thematic analysis of open-ended responses. The results show that equipment use was concentrated in a limited number of testing facilities, while financial support, number of programs, years of participation, and equipment use were strongly associated with one another. Firms in automotive parts-related industries, multi-year participants, and firms in the intensive multi-year utilization group showed relatively higher median values in some early performance indicators. However, these findings are interpreted as observed associations within beneficiary firms rather than causal policy effects. Satisfaction scores were generally high but did not show clear positive associations with commercialization sales, new employment, or patent outcomes. This study contributes by integrating equipment utilization, support participation, early commercialization, employment and technological outcomes, and operational-experience data to structure the utilization patterns and improvement needs of the first-phase project. The findings suggest that the second phase should strengthen equipment utilization management, package-type support linking product development, testing and validation, and market access, and follow-up evaluation systems.
