The increase in visitors to tourist attractions is known to bring about a positive ripple effect on the local economy by promoting consumption of related industries such as transportation networks, lodging facilities, and commercial districts. However, on the one hand, the increase in visitors leads to problems with overtourism, traffic congestion, safety accidents, and convenience facility operation. In this context, it is important not only for tourists but also for local residents to predict and respond to visitors. In this study, the model for predicting the number of visitors was compared by using ARIMA, which is generally applied to prediction, and GRU, a deep learning model. As a result of the analysis, the MAPE based on the 90-day reference period of the GRU model was about 9%, indicating that the predictive power was relatively superior to that of the ARIMA model of 30%.
