Recent changes in global supply chains have highlighted the strategic importance of logistics operations in firms' cost adjustment decisions. Although prior studies have identified various determinants of cost stickiness, including asset intensity, employee intensity, and inventory-related characteristics, relatively little attention has been paid to the logistics-related operating resources that firms maintain to support supply chain continuity and their role in shaping the asymmetric behavior of selling, general, and administrative (SG&A) expenses. This study examines whether logistics-related operating resources influence the stickiness of SG&A expenses. Rather than proposing a new empirical measure, it reinterprets the conventional Inventory-to-Sales Ratio, widely used as a measure of inventory intensity, as a proxy for logistics-related operating resources from a supply chain perspective. It also investigates whether Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO) moderates this relationship. Using a sample of manufacturing firms listed on the Korea Exchange (KOSPI and KOSDAQ) over the period 2012-2025, an extended cost stickiness model based on Anderson et al. (2003) is estimated. The results show that SG&A expenses exhibit significant cost stickiness and that firms with higher logistics intensity display significantly greater cost stickiness. These findings suggest that logistics-related operating resources are difficult to adjust because of their asset specificity and the substantial adjustment costs associated with logistics infrastructure, thereby limiting firms' ability to reduce SG&A expenses when sales decline. Furthermore, DIO significantly strengthens the positive relationship between logistics intensity and cost stickiness, indicating that longer inventory holding periods further constrain firms' ability to adjust logistics-related operating resources. This study contributes to the cost behavior literature by providing a supply chain-based interpretation of the conventional Inventory-to-Sales Ratio rather than introducing a new empirical proxy. It further demonstrates that not only the relative level of logistics-related operating resources but also the length of time they are maintained constitutes an important mechanism through which resource adjustment costs shape SG&A cost behavior.
