This study aimed to explore the relationship between residential type and digital information literacy among the elderly and to verify the moderating effect of public assistance. To this end, hierarchical regression analysis was conducted on 1,280 elderly individuals aged 65 or older using data from the National Information Society Agency (NIA)’s “2025 Survey on the Digital Divide.” The analysis results showed that the availability of public assistance influenced the digital information literacy of the elderly. Furthermore, public assistance was found to moderate the relationship between residential type and digital information literacy. These findings suggest the need to expand public support to improve the relatively low digital information literacy of elderly individuals living alone. This study is significant in that it empirically verified the interaction between residential type and public assistance regarding the information literacy of the elderly, an area that has remained largely unexplored until now.

본 연구는 노인을 대상으로 거주형태와 디지털 정보활용능력의 관계를 탐색하고, 공적조력의 조절효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국지능정보사회진흥원(NIA)의 「2025 디지털정보격차실태조사」자료를 활용하여 65세 이상 노인 1,280명을 대상으로 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 공적조력 여부는 노인의 디지털 정보활용능력에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 공적조력은 거주형태와 노인의 디지털 정보활용능력 간의 관계를 조절하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 상대적으로 낮은 독거노인의 디지털 정보활용능력을 향상시키기 위해서는 공적 지원이 확대되어야 할 필요성을 시사한다. 본 연구는 그동안 미진한 상태로 남아있던 노인의 정보활용능력에 대한 거주형태와 공적조력의 상호작용을 실증적으로 검증하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
