With the increasing adoption of Electric Vehicles (EV), fire accidents are also on the rise. Consequently, the development of investigative techniques to scientifically determine the causes of fires is becoming increasingly important. Because EV batteries are organically connected to the vehicle's electrical components and wiring, failures such as short circuits in high-voltage electrical components can transmit electrical shocks to the battery. Terminal fuses installed in battery packs not only function as circuit protection devices but also provide valuable evidence reflecting the electrical conditions before and after a fire. This study suggests that analyzing the fuse melting pattern can be a key clue in identifying the cause of fire in EV fire investigations. By analyzing microscopic traces of thermal, electrical, and physical damage on fuse elements using precision analytical equipment, we explored distinguishing factors for each cause of damage.
