This study employs a literature-based methodology to propose new principles for pastoral care in the age of climate crisis. Despite the severity of the climate crisis, many people fail to experience it existentially or recognize it as their own problem. Drawing on the author's own experience as a pastoral counselor during the flooding of Gangnam-daero in Seoul, this study argues for the importance of existential experience in relation to the climate crisis. Moreover, it argues for the necessity of connecting the climate crisis with pastoral care. The paper then proceeds to analyze the climate crisis itself. First, it examines the lack of awareness among agents who fail to recognize the severity of the climate crisis, arguing that the primary cause of the crisis must be confronted as originating in human beings themselves. Second, it identifies agents' lack of relational competence, a term drawn from Relational Cultural Theory, which is needed to address the climate crisis. Relational competence refers to the capacity to recognize that the self as agent is interconnected with others and the world, and to cultivate relationships in the service of mutual care; the absence of this competence leads most people to make daily life choices from a closed, self-interested perspective. Third, although the climate crisis demands transformation on the part of individual agents, it remains a crisis defined by historical, political, economic, collective, and complex dimensions. Stephen Gardiner describes this as a "perfect moral storm," constituted by a global storm, an intergenerational storm, and a theoretical storm. The climate crisis, therefore, is a complex crisis requiring both a change in individual agents' awareness and transformation at multiple systemic levels. Accordingly, this study proposes three dimensions of pastoral care for the age of climate crisis. First, pastoral care that fosters awareness of the interconnectedness of self, others, the world, and the Kingdom of God; second, care that follows Jesus Christ as a symbol of resistance to systems driving the climate crisis; and third, care that embodies a spirituality of creation through sacrifice, service, inclusion, compassion, preaching, worship, and diakonia. In conclusion, this study proposes that authentic pastoral care for the age of climate crisis becomes possible only when the recovery of individual agents' awareness is integrated with the public practice of the church community.

이 논문은 문헌연구 방법론을 통해, 기후위기 시대의 목회돌봄에 대한 새로운 원리를 제언하는 논문이다. 우선 논문의 문제제기는 기후위기의 심각성에 비해서 많은 사람들이 기후위기를 실존적으로 경험하지 못하고, 자신의 문제로 인식하지 못하는 부분에 대한 주목으로 시작한다. 첫째로 필자가 서울 대도시 강남대로 침수 사건을 경험한 사례를 시작으로, 기후위기에 대한 실존적 경험의 중요성을 주장하며, 둘째로, 이 사례를 토대로 기후위기와 목회돌봄의 상관성에 대한 주장을 한다. 그리고 기후위기에 대한 문제를 분석하여, 첫째 기후위기의 심각성을 인식하지 못하는 행위주체자들의 인식결여를 분석하고 있다. 실제로 기후위기의 원인을 제공하는 대부분의 원인은 인간 자신이라는 사실을 직시해야 한다는 것이다. 두 번째는 행위주체자들이 기후위기를 해결하기 위한 관계적 능력이 구비되지 않았다는 것이다. 관계적 능력은 관계 문화 이론의 용어로서 행위주체자인 자기와 타자, 세계와 모두 연결되어 있다는 관계성을 인식하여, 서로의 돌봄을 위해서 관계를 증진하고 계발하는 능력이다. 기후위기에 관련된 자기, 타자, 세계와의 관계적 능력의 부족으로 폐쇄적인 관점으로 자기 욕망에 사로잡힌 매일의 삶의 선택을 하고 있는 경우가 대부분이다. 세 번째로 기후위기의 문제가 행위주체자의 변화를 요청하는 문제이기는 하지만, 여전히 역사적, 정치적, 경제적, 집단적, 복합적 위기로 정의되는 문제이다. 스티븐 가디너는 이것은 전 지구적 문제, 세대 간 문제, 이론적 문제라고 지칭하며 완벽한 도덕적 폭풍을 일으키는 구성이라고 했다. 따라서 기후위기의 문제는 개인적인 행위주체자의 인식변화와 다층위적인 시스템의 변화를 함께 고려해야만 하는 복합적인 위기이다. 따라서 첫째, 자기, 타자, 세계, 하나님 나라의 상호 관계성 인식을 증진시키는 목회돌봄을 제공해야 하며, 둘째, 기후 위기를 야기하는 시스템에 저항하는 상징으로서 예수 그리스도를 따르는 목회돌봄을 실천해야 하며, 셋째, 기후위기에 저항하는 설교, 예배, 디아코니아를 실천함으로써 희생, 섬김, 포용, 박애 정신을 실천하는 창조의 영성을 구현해야한다. 결론적으로 본 논문은 행위주체자로서의 개인적 인식 회복과 교회 공동체의 공적 실천이 통합될 때 비로소 기후위기 시대에 요청되는 진정한 목회돌봄이 가능함을 제언한다.
