This qualitative case study examines how two university learners enact willingness to communicate (WTC) over time in a low-stakes extracurricular English clinic at a South Korean university. Drawing on longitudinal interactional data and post-study interviews, the study traces the participation trajectories of two focal learners with contrasting profiles across two semesters. The findings reveal two distinct but sustained enactment patterns: one learner gradually expanded spoken participation, moving toward stabilized and goal-oriented communication; the other consistently enacted WTC through selective and concise contributions that conveyed a clear evaluative stance without extended elaboration. Together, these cases demonstrate that WTC does not necessarily manifest through more extended spoken participation. Instead, limited or brief participation should not be automatically interpreted as unwillingness. This study contributes to WTC research by foregrounding enactment as an interactional phenomenon and by highlighting the pedagogical value of low-stakes spaces that legitimize diverse participation pathways.
