William Blake introduced the technique of the prose satirical drama in An Island in the Moon, thereby creating a dramatic work that differs significantly from traditional drama. This drama candidly portrays the social, political, and religious problems that accompanied the rise of industrialization in Britain. Blake denounces and satirizes Enlightenment rationalism, the unquestioned faith in science, the commercialization of art, the authority of the institutionalized art world, and hypocritical religion and moralism, while defending the importance of creative freedom and imagination. As a result, this prose satirical drama continues to raise contemporary readers’ awareness, especially in the age of artificial intelligence, of the significance of individual life, society, and the nation.

윌리엄 블레이크는『달 속에 있는 섬』에 산문 풍자극 기법을 도입하여 기존의 드라마와 색다르게 드라마를 구성했다. 이 드라마는 영국에서 산업의 발달로 생긴 사회적, 정치적, 종교적 문제를 적나라하게 풍자한다. 그는 계몽주의 이성과 과학만능주의, 상업화된 예술과 제도화된 예술계의 권위에 대한 분노, 위선적인 종교와 도덕주의를 비판하고 조롱하면서 창조적 자유와 상상력의 중요성을 옹호한다. 그래서 이 산문 풍자극은 인공지능 시대를 살아가는 현대인들에게 개인의 삶과 사회, 그리고 국가의 의미에 대한 경각심을 불러일으키고 있다.
