This article rereads W.B. Yeats’s “Easter, 1916” through Jacques Rancière’s politics of aesthetics, with particular attention to the distribution of the sensible, police order, dissensus, political subjectification, and literarity. Rather than treating the poem primarily as an expression of Yeats’s political ambivalence, a judgment on the Easter Rising, an aestheticization of revolutionary violence, or a nationalist act of commemoration, the article shifts the focus to the poem’s reconfiguration of perception. In “Easter, 1916,” the future rebels first appear within an ordinary Dublin social order, where they are recognizable as acquaintances, professionals, eccentrics, objects of anecdote, or figures of private grievance, but not yet as political subjects. The Rising interrupts this perceptual regime and compels a new count of the common world. The article argues that “polite meaningless words” names the poem’s initial police order; that the refrain “A terrible beauty is born” registers the shock of dissensual appearance; and that “I write it out in a verse” performs a literary act of political inscription. By writing the dead into verse, Yeats gives them a public visibility that neither casual sociability nor state discourse can provide. The poem’s ambivalence is therefore not a failure of judgment but a formal mode of dissensus: it creates a public memory without converting that memory into ideological consensus.

(A terrible beauty is born)가 그 질서의 파열을 명명하며, “나는 그것을 시로 써낸다”(I write it out in a verse)가 죽은 자들의 이름을 공적 세계 안에 재배치하는 문학적-정치적 행위임을 논증한다.
