Twenty Years of Senior Entrepreneurship Research in Korea: Trends and Structural Changes

- This study aims to systematically examine the research trends and academic structure of senior entrepreneurship studies in Korea. A bibliometric analysis was conducted using senior entrepreneurship-related articles published in the Korea Citation Index (KCI) over the past two decades. Frequency analysis, time-series analysis, heatmap analysis, and citation impact analysis were employed. The results indicate that research on senior entrepreneurship remained at an exploratory stage during the 2000s but has steadily increased since the mid-2010s. In recent years, the field has expanded into diverse academic disciplines. Business administration and entrepreneurship/venture studies consistently served as the core research domains with the highest citation impact, forming the intellectual foundation of the field. Since 2019, senior entrepreneurship research has increasingly spread across academic disciplines, suggesting a shift from a discipline-centered field toward a more multidisciplinary research domain. This study contributes to the literature by providing an integrated analysis of both the quantitative growth and academic influence of senior entrepreneurship research. The findings offer a valuable foundation for future research directions and policy development related to senior entrepreneurship.

- 본 연구는 시니어 창업에 관한 국내 학술 연구를 대상으로 연구 동향과 학문적 구조를 체계적으로 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 국내 학술 데이터베이스(KCI)에서 수집한 20여 년간의 시니어 창업 관련 논문을 대상으로 빈도분석, 시계열 분석, 그리고 피인용 횟수 기반 영향력 분석을 수행하였다. 분석 결과, 시니어 창업 연구는 2000년대에는 제한적인 탐색 단계에서, 2010년대 중반 이후 점진적으로 증가하였으며, 최근에는 다양한 학문 분야로 확산하는 양상을 보였다. 특히 경영학 및 창업·벤처기업 분야는 전 기간 핵심 연구 영역이었으며, 피인용 분석에서도 높은 인용 수준을 보여 학문적 중심 영역으로 확인되었다. 하지만 2019년 이후 다양한 학문 분야로 확산되는 경향을 확인할 수 있었으며, 이는 시니어 창업 연구가 단일 학문 분야를 넘어 다학제적 연구 영역으로 확대되고 있음을 보여주었다. 본 연구는 시니어 창업 연구의 양적 성장과 질적 영향력을 통합적으로 분석하여 향후 연구와 정책 수립의 기초 자료를 제공한다.
