Objectives This study analyzes research trends in dance studies in Gwangju and Jeonnam from 2000 to 2025, using topic modeling techniques applied to academic papers and theses. Methods A total of 188 papers (32 journal articles, 156 theses) collected from RISS were analyzed using TF-IDF keyword analysis, LDA topic modeling (k=10), and linear regression to classify topics as Hot (β > 0) or Cold (β < 0). Results Region-specific keywords such as "Gwangju" and "municipal" ranked prominently in the TF-IDF analysis. Ten topics were extracted, including region-specific themes such as "Cultural Marketing Strategies in Gwangju" and "Gwangju Municipal Ballet and Creative Performances." Based on regression coefficient direction, five topics—including "Middle School Dance Classes and Happiness" (R² = .157)—were classified as Hot, and five topics—including "Dancers' Self-Management and Stress"—were classified as Cold. As an exploratory analysis of directional trends rather than a causal test, these classifications should be interpreted with the study's thesis-dominant sample composition (83.0%) in mind. Conclusions This study provides empirical evidence of the accumulation and gaps in dance research specific to Gwangju and Jeonnam, offering foundational data for regional dance scholarship and cultural policy discussions following the establishment of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City in July 2026.

본 연구는 RISS에서 수집한 광주·전남 무용 관련 학술논문 및 학위논문 188편(학술논문 32편, 학위논문 156편)을 대상으로 TF-IDF 분석, LDA 토픽모델링(k=10), 선형회귀분석을 적용하여 2000년부터 2025년까지의 연구 트렌드를 분석하였다. TF-IDF 분석 결과‘광주',‘시립' 등 지역 특수성을 나타내는 키워드가 상위 빈도로 나타났으며, LDA 토픽모델링을 통해‘광주 지역 문화의 마케팅 전략',‘광주 시립발레단과 창작 공연' 등 지역 특화 주제를 포함한 10개 토픽이 도출되었다. 선형회귀분석에서는 회귀계수(β)의 부호를 기준으로‘중학교 무용 수업과 행복감'(R²=.157) 등 5개 토픽이 Hot으로,‘무용수 자기관리와 스트레스' 등 5개 토픽이 Cold로 분류되었다. 다만 본 연구의 회귀분석은 인과관계 검증이 아닌 시계열적 증감 방향성을 탐색하는 데 목적이 있으며, 학위논문이 83.0%를 차지하는 표본 구조로 인한 해석상의 한계를 지닌다. 본 연구는 전남광주통합특별시 출범을 앞둔 시점에서 광주·전남 지역 무용 연구의 축적현황과 공백을 실증적으로 제시함으로써, 향후 지역 무용학 발전 방향을 모색하는 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있다.
